Too often we hear people saying it's work doing Kingdom things and investing in fellow Christians. I've heard it said, heck, I've even said it myself. The thing with this way of thinking is that it puts us in the driver's seat and leaves us feeling unsatisfied and unfulfilled. In 1 John it flat out tells us that those who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. Newsflash! That means we are called to love every single believer regardless if we want to or not. It's in this love that we discover doing Kingdom work brings joy, lasting joy. It pleases the Father when our lives align with His heartbeat. We've got to stop trying to bypass people, especially in the church and we've got to start getting intentional. If we are willing to ignore our fellow brothers and sisters within the four walls of the church, we are more often than not going to ignore the people we encounter outside the church. "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome."
