Julia sits down this week to talk with the co-founders of The Indigenous Foundation, Meera and Sena.

They discuss how climate change and environmental racism uniquely affects Indigenous communities, the horror of residential schools, the importance in teaching accurate and holistic history in schools, the epidemic surrounding missing and murdered Indigenous women, how can people appreciate but not appropriate the Indigenous culture, what makes a good ally, how to properly refer to an Indigenous person, stereotypes and inaccurate portrayals perpetuated by film and media, and so much more.

The Indigenous Foundation, or TIF, is a community organization, a collective of Indigenous/POC women, two-spirited, and non-binary folk focused on bringing awareness to Indigenous groups and rights. It was founded in November 2020 by Meera Baswan and Sena Yenilmez.
