Welcome to Unshakeable with Human Design, the show dedicated to
0:05
helping entrepreneurs use human design to shift from hustle to
0:09
flow without sacrificing results.
0:11
Come here to become an unshakeable human and build an unshakeable business
0:15
according to your human design. I'm your host, Nicole Laino.
0:22
Nicole Laino: Hello and welcome to Unshakeable with Human Design everybody.
0:26
I'm your host Nicole Laino and we are here for the fifth installment of our
0:33
Human Design Profile series, where we are going to talk about the Line 5.
0:38
And this is obviously the one I've been waiting for because the work
0:42
that I have done on becoming a five.
0:46
It still exists every single day. I think about what it means to be a five.
0:50
And I'm going to really reflect my own personal experience in this episode.
0:54
I try to do that as much as I can give you real and practical applications of
1:00
how all of these can look, but this one I'm going to talk a little bit more about
1:04
my story because I think it's relevant.
1:08
And I talk about these concepts, that in order to live your purpose, according to
1:13
your human design, in order to reach that summit that we're all waiting for, we're
1:19
all working toward, is to live our full potential, you've got to be your profile.
1:24
You've got to be acting like the person written on the page,
1:27
like the character description. And whatever that means to you.
1:31
And obviously I've used the analogy on here of a character in a movie.
1:36
That Forrest Gump was a character that was written on a page.
1:40
It was a description of what he was like.
1:44
And then they thought about different actors and what they
1:47
would bring to that description.
1:50
Now there were probably a lot of choices, people who could have played that role.
1:54
And then there were some that would feel really wrong playing that role.
1:58
I use that analogy of saying Jack Nicholson playing Forrest Gump
2:01
probably is not a movie that works, not in the same way for sure.
2:06
I don't know if you get what you need to get from Jack Nicholson in
2:09
order to be fully invested in the character that is Forrest Gump and to
2:13
feel the way that you feel for him. Now, could someone other than Tom Hanks have played that character?
2:19
Yeah. It would have been different, but they would have taken the base character
2:24
and added their own stuff to it. And that's what profile is.
2:28
There's no cookie cutter way to be a five or to be a two or to be a three.
2:35
There are guidelines. There are certain things where if you're not doing these things, then
2:40
you're probably not going to feel right. You're not going to be living as this character.
2:45
You're going to be doing something else. Jack Nicholson playing kind of innocent and sometimes clueless in
2:53
the most beautiful way, he might not have been able to bring that
2:57
same level to it that Tom Hanks did.
3:00
Where there was just this childlike innocence to him.
3:04
If you're not playing the innocence, if you aren't embodying the innocence
3:08
of Forrest Gump, then you're missing a key component of that character.
3:13
You're missing a key component that makes the movie work.
3:17
Your movie is your purpose.
3:20
The theme of your purpose is the plot line of your movie.
3:24
It is the greater theme that is playing out.
3:27
And all the activations in your human design chart that are playing
3:31
out, adding to what becomes you bringing you to this character.
3:37
But the character that is making its way through this story is your profile.
3:43
It is the role you are here to play.
3:45
And if you aren't playing it with, if it's the innocence, if it's the
3:49
open heart of the four, if it is the experimentation of the three, or what
3:55
we're going to talk about with the five, the practicality and the universalization.
4:00
If you aren't bringing these aspects to your life, then you're going to
4:05
miss the key storyline of your movie.
4:10
And then you wonder why the movie ends and it doesn't feel satisfying.
4:15
It doesn't feel like you lived your purpose, like your
4:18
potential was fully reached. So many of us are trying to reach our full potential.
4:25
Well, how do we do that? You gotta be yourself. That is above all things what human design teaches us.
4:31
That we have a purpose. That your potential is real.
4:33
That calling that you feel inside of yourself is real.
4:38
That little voice inside of you that says, there's more.
4:41
I could be more out in the world.
4:44
Well, what does that look like to you? And how do you bring your more out into the world?
4:49
What is the more? How do you find it?
4:52
Your profile is what helps you walk that path and to start to
4:56
see your potential come out. And it comes out really naturally, not in this way where you're thinking
5:01
about it all the time, reading books, listening to podcasts, downloading
5:07
Instagram carousels and saving them for later, all of that stuff.
5:11
No, it comes from the living. They can inform it.
5:15
They can be useful, but they are not even close to the whole game.
5:20
If that's all you're doing and you're not experimenting and embodying
5:23
your design and working toward that, then you're missing the game.
5:28
And if you don't know how to work toward embodying and integrating your
5:32
design, then that's where you seek help.
5:34
It doesn't have to be me. Just find somebody who can coach you, find somebody who can help you, who
5:39
actually cares, and I must say, who actually knows what they're talking about.
5:43
Who has actually embodied it themselves and they didn't just
5:45
read it in a book themselves and then try to sell you something.
5:48
Sorry, had to throw that in there. Feeling saucy today.
5:51
Talking about my five lines. I'm getting all excited. So, just before we start, if you want, we do have a free guide for
5:58
this that will help so that you don't have to remember these concepts.
6:00
The guide is on finding your brand voice, your X factor
6:05
through your human design profile. So we're going to talk a lot about what the five is in this episode.
6:12
And we talk about what they are and how the lines operate.
6:15
And then in the guide, we go into a little bit more about how you
6:18
could apply that to your brand voice, what that will look like.
6:20
We go into that a little bit deeper. So if you want the free guide, all you have to do is go to Instagram, and
6:25
DM me the word X Factor, the letter X, and then the word Factor, all one
6:29
word, and we will send it to you. Or go to nicolelaino.com/xfactor, and you can download it right there.
6:35
And then if you want to enter, we have a fun contest. If you'd like to have a reading on the show, if you'd like to come on the
6:40
show, chat with me, we look at your chart, you ask me whatever human design
6:44
questions you have burning on your heart and I will answer them for you.
6:48
If you would like to do that, subscribe to this show right now.
6:51
Hit the little follow button and then take a screenshot of this
6:55
episode that you're listening to. Share it on Instagram, on your Instagram stories.
6:59
Tag me. Again, I'm @NicoleLainoOfficial.
7:02
And then you're done. Tell us why you loved the episode and we will enter you into the contest
7:06
and you could win a spot on the show. We'll be announcing that after this series is over.
7:10
Okay, without further ado, let's talk about the five line.
7:13
This episode is for you if you are a 2/5 profile, a 3/5, a 5/1 or a 5/2.
7:24
Now, again, what we've talked about in the other episodes, the
7:26
first number, if you are a 5/1 or a 5/2, your 5 is your personality.
7:33
This is the one that you identify the most with.
7:35
This is going to be the person. The piece that you put out in the world, the five is something you're really
7:39
going to want to pay attention to. You are going to have a strong projection field that you are aware of and we will
7:44
talk about what the projection field actually means later in this episode.
7:48
This is a key part of understanding what it means to be a five.
7:51
So do not skip the end of this episode because the projection
7:55
field is almost everything.
7:58
It's so much. It's so much. Please don't miss it. So if you have the 5 in the front, you have the projection field, and
8:02
the 5 is your personality number. This is gonna be the part that you identify with the most.
8:07
You're gonna say, yeah, that's me. It's gonna be very in your face.
8:10
Now if you are a 2/5 or you are a 3/5, then the 5 is your
8:14
unconscious line, and this is going to be kind of a background thing.
8:18
You might be less aware of the projection field, you might be less
8:21
aware of some of these other things.
8:23
It's going to be something that other people see in you
8:26
more than you see in yourself. Now that 5 line, that projection, that can also feel a little
8:32
like, what's going on here? Because you don't identify with it.
8:36
So when I talk about the projection field, this might be something that you're like,
8:39
yeah, I know that happens, but I'm not as aware of it in my day to day life.
8:46
Whereas if you have a 5 in front, if you're 5/1 or 5/2 like me, I am a 5/1,
8:52
just for anybody who doesn't know already.
8:54
I talk about it a lot, but I'm a 5/1. Very aware of the projection field.
8:59
Where it can stop you in your tracks.
9:01
And it's something that you have to learn to work with.
9:04
So I highly recommend that if you're a five, get deeper into this topic.
9:07
Okay? So let's talk about this.
9:10
In traditional human design, the five line is called the heretic.
9:15
And Ra, who was the founder of human design, he was a 5/1.
9:19
He had strong thoughts and I think a bit of trauma about being
9:23
a five, because it's not easy. It is not easy to be a 5.
9:27
It's not easy to deal with the projection field because you are not
9:31
in control of it, and it controls the way that people see you.
9:35
Now, the 5, the heretic.
9:37
A heretic, you can think about them as somebody on their soapbox, talking
9:42
a good game, spreading the word about something, really selling it, so to speak.
9:48
And then the heretic gets burned at the stake. And I'll just say this about the five.
9:53
When I first read about the five, I was like, okay, I
9:56
downloaded my chart, you're 5/1. What's that mean?
9:58
I looked it up, and I was like, oh my god. This is the worst thing ever.
10:03
I felt there was truth in it. I did not at any point say, that's not true, I don't have that, that's not me.
10:09
I said, that's me, and oh my god, my worst fears have been realized.
10:14
It really is as bad as I always thought.
10:16
I'm doomed. Cause this sounds really awful.
10:20
Because when you're called a heretic, it's not exactly something
10:22
that you want to be called. It's not exactly a name that you want to attach to yourself.
10:26
And nobody wants to be burned at the stake.
10:29
Nobody wants to be stoned to death. And we can associate ourselves with that because of this name that it's been given.
10:37
But really what it means to be the five, to me, the archetype that
10:42
I use is you're a problem solver.
10:46
It's the archetype of a problem solver.
10:50
It's core to who we are. The way that I've structured talking about all of these lines in these episodes
10:56
are that the archetype is the being.
10:59
It's the how. It's the what we do.
11:01
And it is the living of the design. It is the living of the profile.
11:06
So you've got to be living as a problem solver.
11:09
It's why it makes us good marketers. It's why typically fives have a knack for being able to sell stuff.
11:16
Because we solve problems. And how do you sell stuff?
11:19
You sell problem solving. You sell solutions to people's problems.
11:22
That's why people buy things. Even if something feels good, it solves a problem.
11:27
A massage solves the problem of, I'm stressed out, or I need to relax.
11:32
I'm tired. I want to feel a certain way.
11:35
It's driving toward a desire, or it's running away from the pain.
11:40
We inherently understand that because we are problem solvers.
11:44
Whether you're selling something or not. You've gotta be solving problems.
11:47
It's who you're here to be. It is the essence of your being.
11:52
It's how you show up. It's how you live your purpose.
11:56
Your purpose has something to do with solving problems, usually
12:00
for other people, because we are in transpersonal territory.
12:04
With a five in the front, you are going to have transpersonal, energy.
12:08
If you are a 5/1 or a 5/2, your destiny is connected to other people.
12:15
You've got karma with everybody that you meet.
12:18
There's always something being worked out, so life can feel like
12:23
people can have and situations can have a very big effect on you.
12:28
They can feel like little moments or people can make big turns
12:32
and changes and shifts in your life, for better or for worse.
12:37
So we are on this ride of saying that when we're solving problems, when we are
12:41
interacting with the world, when we're being who we are meant to be, then we
12:45
are cleaning up the karma that we have. And I don't think about karma necessarily like, bad things
12:49
that happened in past lives. It just means you have a history with everybody you meet,
12:53
that there are no accidents. That you have the ability and the potential to be a stranger
12:58
of consequence in someone's life.
13:01
And they have the potential to be a stranger of consequence in yours.
13:06
There are no accidents if you're a 5/1 or a 5/2.
13:10
Now, if you have the 5 in the back, you still have this problem
13:14
solving leadership quality to you.
13:17
The 5 is a leader, but only if it's problem solving.
13:21
That's the moral of the story with all of these episodes is I want you to see that
13:26
there's potential in your profile, but you have to look at it and say, I'm accepting
13:31
and owning the fact that this is me. And I'm going to notice the shadows, and I'm going to recognize them, and I'm
13:40
going to own the gifts, and I'm going to really step into this, even if it's scary.
13:46
I'm going to accept the fact that this is core to who I am.
13:51
If I'm not solving problems, it doesn't mean I'm doing it 24 seven,
13:55
although I naturally look at things being like, how can I fix that?
13:59
We are the fixer. We are the savior.
14:03
It's the archetype of the savior is another way that people look at it.
14:05
I don't necessarily call it that because I don't want people to misunderstand that
14:11
they should be saving people all the time. We are always looking for practical solutions to problems.
14:18
We just naturally look at situations and go, that could be done more efficiently.
14:23
You know what would really help? Not everybody always wants to hear that though.
14:27
So we have to be careful about who we solve problems for.
14:31
Now, the potential to ascend for our brand, for our brand voice, for our
14:37
business with a five is the influencer.
14:42
When we're solving problems, and we are living it, and we are owning that
14:47
we are a unique, practical, powerful problem solver with the ability to
14:53
save people, if they are for us to save, that we can become an influencer.
15:00
And this is different than the influence of the four because the influence of
15:03
the five is about the larger audience.
15:05
It is an influence on strangers. It is an influence on more of the collective level,
15:10
than on the tribal level. That can be a little disheartening at times for us too, because we
15:16
can have very little influence on the people we know and lots of
15:20
influence on people who just meet us. So these are all things to consider when we build our business, when
15:26
we start to understand how our energy works, what people need from
15:29
us, and how they connect with us. Now, I started this out by saying that I hated my profile when I first read it.
15:37
I was just like, this is awful.
15:41
Emotional authority, I was like, oh my god, why did I get the hardest test in
15:45
life of this profile, this authority, and I don't know if my type is necessarily
15:51
the hardest, although they all have their challenges, but I certainly
15:54
looked at this like this is no good. This is not going to be fun.
15:57
Now I know why life has been difficult. But it became a lot less difficult when I stopped feeling that way
16:02
and I looked at it and I said, well, if this is what it is, then I
16:05
might as well make the best of it. There's nothing in human design that's all bad.
16:10
There is nothing in us that is inherently bad.
16:13
There's a spectrum and I can choose to work and integrate the best of
16:20
all the pieces that I am and work with them, challenges and all, figure
16:25
out how to ride that wave and how to navigate life as this being.
16:31
Not trying to be somebody else, because I tried that before.
16:34
I tried being other people. It did not work for me.
16:37
If you're a five and you try to go out there and live life as a four,
16:41
it probably will not work for you. Trying to make all these buddy buddy connections and have these close
16:46
friendships and all of this stuff. Doesn't mean that you can't.
16:49
It just means that it's probably not going to grow your business the
16:53
way that it grows a four's business. That's not how we do it.
16:58
Profile and our design in general can tell us where to put our energy.
17:02
What is the best way for us, the best method for us.
17:07
Where does our energy and our effort carry the furthest and carry the most weight?
17:14
So the projection field, let's talk about this.
17:17
The five carries a projection field, no matter where you have it.
17:21
All fives have it, all of those four profiles will have a projection field.
17:25
Now it's different than the projection field of the two.
17:27
Now if you're a 5/2, you have both. So understanding both of them is going to be important for you.
17:32
But people look into the two. They can see into you.
17:36
The five, we are more like a mirror.
17:39
The projection field shows people what we can do for them.
17:45
Or what they think. We can do for them.
17:48
And sometimes they're right and sometimes they are wrong.
17:51
It's what your authority tells you, whether you are there to
17:54
solve that person's problem or not.
17:58
They see something in us and we don't know what it is that they
18:03
really want, but they see the savior.
18:06
I think you can help me with X.
18:10
Welcome to the world of being a five. There's always people thinking, I bet you can help me.
18:15
You know what I need from you? And it can honestly be quite exhausting.
18:20
People always need something and they're always looking to you and we can solve
18:25
problems and we can fix things, but we can also feel like we have to be doing it all
18:32
the time and for everybody that we meet. And then when we don't meet the expectations that they set,
18:38
that they did not share with us. They don't even know sometimes, but there can be disappointment at the end.
18:46
Or there can be a feeling of, I thought you would do more for
18:51
me, or you would keep doing it. So relationships can be challenging with a five in your profile.
19:00
And learning how to work with the projection field, learning how it works,
19:05
one of the greatest lessons of my life.
19:08
And it is one that I reflect on every single day.
19:12
I don't harp on it, but I'm incredibly aware of it.
19:17
And I have learned how you can use it to your advantage with integrity.
19:22
It's always about how do I use this and use it to my
19:25
advantage grounded in integrity. It's really important for me as well.
19:30
My unconscious earth gate is about integrity, so I'm very
19:34
hyper aware of that as well. And this is how the design works.
19:38
We start realizing the pieces that are there.
19:41
And seeing that there is this through line.
19:44
There's always these threads connecting everything together.
19:49
Forming how we step into the highest version of ourselves.
19:55
And then when we do that, that's when we get in that, I'll
19:59
have what she's having energy. Where people just look at you and they're like, I see you for who you
20:05
are, I see you for what you do, and I want to be that authentic too.
20:11
They want to be near you. That is what magnetism really is about.
20:17
Magnetism is about you sending out a signal that's completely
20:20
and authentically you. And then the people who receive it say, I need this energy, this is the
20:27
thing that I'm seeking, this is the thing that I want to be connected with.
20:32
Whether it's a friend, a business colleague, a client, whatever it is,
20:37
but people get drawn to you because they are vibing with the signal.
20:41
And if you're not being authentic to who you are, you're sending out
20:44
an inauthentic signal and then you are attracting the wrong people.
20:50
You're getting people that don't guide you and help you along your purpose path.
20:57
Instead, you're getting people who hold you where you are.
21:01
And if you are part of that transpersonal world, where you have that five line
21:04
in the front, the 5/1, 5/2, and also if you're a 6/2, or 6/3, you have this
21:09
as well, this transpersonal profile.
21:12
That signal you send out is incredibly important because the
21:16
people you encounter are going to be the people you have karma with.
21:20
They are going to be the ones that have a significant impact
21:23
on your life, and you on them.
21:26
So this is how this all works.
21:28
I hope that this helps you understand the five.
21:31
I could honestly go on and on. I told you, I think about this every day.
21:34
Learning how to embrace the five, to embrace my role as a 5, the importance
21:42
of that, the challenges of that, to stay out of the shadows of that,
21:49
to be able to put myself out there as a true 5, to not be afraid of
21:54
the potential that exists as a 5.
21:59
All of that is what I work on every day and has transformed my life, my business.
22:07
I get very aligned people connecting with me now, joining my programs,
22:12
paying me for readings, paying me for one on one coaching.
22:15
The people who come to me now come to me for what I really can deliver.
22:20
And I can totally suss out the people who are not there for the right reasons
22:24
or who I'm not connected with in a way where I can really help them.
22:28
They don't have a problem I can solve, or they're not the
22:31
right person for me to solve it. All of that is tied to my design, all of that is tied to me following my authority,
22:37
following my strategy, being in alignment with my human design type as a manifesting
22:42
generator, and living life as a 5/1.
22:46
Nurturing both sides of my profile.
22:48
So I hope that you found this useful, I hope this gave you a window into how
22:51
you can more embody your 5 line, and again if you want that free guide, on
22:56
