RATING
A lot of movie podcasts, specifically horror, tout deep cut reviews and discussions. Erica and Lance run with that sentiment and outright bury the competition with obscurity and variety. Unsung Horrors takes a popular premise of movie discussion and expertly adds a simple yet creative spin to the concept. The hosts are entertaining, the show is easy to listen to, and there’s something for every movie fan from fanatics to casual viewers. Give them a listen and subscribe now!
A podcast for next-level horror fans and my new favorite podcast. I love discovering "new to me" horror movies. Lance and Erica deliver exactly that. Their knowledge of not only horror movies but of tons of other genres is extremely impressive. You can tell these are true fans not only from their conversations about the films being reviewed, but of the other films connected with the film. I think fans of Pure Cinema and Colors of the Dark podcast will find this to be on that level. What really sets this podcast apart for me is that (GASP) they do a lot of work for each episode. They don't just watch the one movie for the podcast, but other films by the director and actors, so I always finish listening with multiple movies to add to my watchlist. Instead of being just another run-of-the-mill show in the ridiculous echo chamber of horror movie podcasts with goofy radio host schticks which all just review the same mainstream movies and with nothing new to be said, Unsung Horrors purposely avoids those and for that, I am thankful. I will never understand why people only want to listen to podcasts about their favorite mainstream horror movies over and over again. Try discovering new movies. There is more to life than Friday the 13th and Blumhouse. Even if I haven't seen the movies they cover, I still listen because I don't think of these discussions as spoilers, but as an endorsement to watch the movie.
Unsung HorrorsWow, thank you!
Love the discussions of these underseen horror movies and their double feature picks to go with them. They convinced me to finally get on Letterboxd, if only to keep up with all of the movies they talk about and recommend. Looking at the list of movies they cover may make the casual horror fan skip over this one, but I think a lot of those people could learn a lot by listening to this. Highly recommend.
Unsung HorrorsThanks so much!
Got some great stuff to add to my to-watch list. Lance seems like a really cool guy. Erica scares me a little but in a good way.
Unsung HorrorsHaha. Thank you!
Been following this podcast (and have since caught up on all episodes) since their Horror Gives Back Challenge back in October/November where the hosts donated money to charity for every horror movie they watched in October. That's enough reason for me to follow and listen, but I also found a great podcast about under seen horror movies that no one else is talking about. So of course if Podchaser is gonna donate for every review in April, I'm gonna give some love to this podcast.
