Her specific research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including Pre-Raphaelite art, American Depression-era post office murals, Japanese American Internment art, and women artists. In 2005, for instance, she contributed the lead essay to the exhibition catalogue Love Revealed: Simeon Solomon and the Pre-Raphaelites for a centenary exhibition that toured Birmingham (England), Munich, and London.
