You always wondered how you could improve your conversations? 1. Focus. 
Give the other person all of your attention. Don’t multitask. 
2. Don’t be condescending.
Don’t just tell them how much you disagree with them, also point the things you agree with. Give real feedback. 
3. Use open ended questions.
Don’t just ask “so did that make you feel angry?” Instead open the expand the conversation “how did that make you feel?
4. Go with the flow.
New ideas and thoughts are going to come to mind, be open to follow them. Specially if they are the other persons thoughts.
5. If you don’t know it, say it.
You don’t have to know everything.
6. Don’t make it about you.
If they tell you something that happened to them don’t balance the situation saying of yeah that’s happened to me also…. make it about them not about you.
7. Don’t repeat yourself.
It could give a bad impression on the other party and it can get pretty boring. 
8. Focus on The Why and Who not on the What.
People don’t care about details, names, days, time, etc. Details make the story less interesting. People care about you, not the details.
9. Listen.
Listen to understand not just to reply.
10. Be brief.
“A good conversation is like a mini skirt; short enough to retain interest, but long enough to cover the subject.”
