Chief Environmental Policy advisor to the President, James L. Connaughton, spent a day in Frankfurt to discuss U.S. Environmental Policy with German media representatives, environmental experts, and the general public on October 23. He addressed the upcoming G-8 summit in Germany next year and explained the administration's National Energy Plan and Comprehensive Climate Strategy in an interview, a web chat, organized by the State Department, and at a luncheon hosted by Consul General Powell. As a member of the U.S. delegation, Mr. Connaughton was on his way to Helsinki, where the European Union and the United States of America will conduct a High-Level Dialogue on Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainable Development on October 24-25.
