Jerry B. Brown, Ph.D., is an anthropologist, author, and activist. From 1972 to 2014 he served as founding professor of anthropology at Florida International University in Miami, where he taught a course on “Hallucinogens and Culture.”

The Psychedelic Gospels is the result of Jerry and Julie’s (wife/co-author) anthropological journey throughout Europe and the Middle East. Based on stunning visual evidence found in the art and icons of many churches and cathedrals, The Psychedelic Gospels documents the integral role that visionary plants [entheogens] played in both the origins of Christianity and in the life of Jesus.

In today's show we discuss Jerry`s inspiration for writing the book, the correlations of iconography and scripture that link Jesus to sacred mushrooms, the history of Santa shaman, and why we don`t see or hear about entheogens in modern Christianity.
