1:11

1:14

none other than the star of Josh

1:16

Mustwin. It's Josh Fox everybody. Hey guys.

1:19

Hello. How are you, Petal?

1:21

I'm so good. How are you? I'm

1:23

all right. I

1:25

feel like this is so weird to

1:27

see you in a different space because

1:30

obviously you've only ever existed to

1:32

me as Josh from Josh Mustwin.

1:34

Yeah. So this is a new

1:36

dynamic for our relationship, but I'm really enjoying

1:38

it. Have you been doing much stuff since

1:41

the show? No, I've met

1:43

up with the new engineer a couple of times and

1:45

we try to do a few things. We've done the

1:47

own podcast. I don't know when they're planning to release

1:49

it, but I think they're starting to do their first

1:52

guest. So who knows last coming out. But

1:54

yeah, it's just it's just taking it

1:56

easy. Really? I've been a.

1:58

I've taken it easy. you can step back

2:00

from that hospitality work. So I'm just enjoying myself at

2:03

the moment. Oh, bless you. I did

2:05

get a couple of messages when the show was

2:07

out from Peter being like, he works at my

2:09

pub, he's so nice. And Peter, we're being so

2:11

lovely about you, which

2:14

is obviously understandable. You know, I'm your biggest

2:16

fan. Sure.

2:19

I'm sure everybody who's listening

2:21

to this podcast, watch Josh Mustwin and

2:24

I'm sure they're fallen in love with

2:26

you. So let's go right back to

2:28

the start. How did

2:30

he apply for the show? I

2:32

got a message on Instagram. It

2:35

wasn't even on my radar. I didn't like go

2:37

on to the talent casting thing. I don't know

2:39

if you know Dave Fairbrane, I think his name

2:41

is E.M. Messer in Instagram. I need

2:44

to say, look, I've got this new show on channel four.

2:47

It sounds like something, or I think

2:49

something you'll be interested in. And to

2:51

be honest, the message did look like

2:53

quite a spam, giving you money

2:55

type message. Did you

2:57

think it was a Nigerian fella in a

3:00

call centre? Obviously, I thought a Nigerian fence

3:02

needed by bank account details. I thought it

3:04

was one of those. So I was so

3:06

afraid not to just not applying to

3:08

it. I thought, if it

3:10

on the off chance is something, what's

3:13

the reply cost me, you know, and

3:15

then turned into Josh Mustwin. So I'm

3:17

glad it wasn't there. A Nigerian fence.

3:21

May too. I've actually just

3:23

made a podcast about like how grim

3:25

that entire scene is and how professional

3:27

and organised it all is. So let

3:29

me just tell you, you had a

3:31

lucky escape. Although they're

3:34

not really using the reality show ruse just

3:36

yet, but I guarantee it won't be long. Obviously,

3:40

known you like I know you and

3:44

you know, everybody else has sort of seen you develop

3:46

on the show and stuff. It

3:48

was clearly out of your comfort zone. And you must

3:50

have been aware of that when you

3:52

got the message like, were you just thinking in

3:54

your head, this is going to be a

3:56

really exciting opportunity? Were you

3:58

thinking, you know, it's It's good to push yourself

4:00

out of your comfort zone. What was your thought process? It

4:03

was definitely a bit of both. At the time I

4:05

was still wrestling. So I think Pete said it on

4:08

the show. Like I kind of just went on the

4:10

show to kind of boost wrestling followers and

4:12

walking into the house, you know, being the first one there. I

4:14

remember one of the few years I just go, just go in

4:16

there, say what you see. You know, just

4:19

verbalise all your thoughts. I remember I was

4:21

just really awkwardly going around the room, like

4:23

looking in drawers and being quite nosy. I

4:25

thought, this must be the most boring way

4:27

that anyone has ever entered the reality show

4:29

in their life. No, honestly, Dawn, I

4:31

felt fear in that moment. Because I

4:33

feel like you won't know this because you would have probably

4:36

just been like a glint in your dah-zah, I mean,

4:38

at this point. But I was the first

4:40

person to ever walk into the Jodie Show house

4:43

like years ago, like 15 years ago now. And

4:47

it was actually not in the house that everyone knows.

4:49

It was in this different house. We had a house

4:51

first. And

4:54

we got kicked out of there after one

4:56

year. We actually devalued the entire street by

4:58

about 200 grand. Every house went

5:00

down that time. No way. Yeah, it was terrible. So

5:02

we ended up in like a warehouse on the river,

5:04

saying it was awful. It

5:08

was definitely not like your digs, which were gorgeous.

5:10

So yes, I remember walking in

5:12

there, Josh, and feeling the same, like

5:14

being so out of me comfort the

5:16

one thing. And this is bizarre. Like

5:18

I'm talking to myself about

5:21

the utensils and art.

5:23

It was such a cringe. And I can

5:25

remember feeling like really uncomfortable. So I felt

5:27

safe in that moment. It was a lot. I

5:30

think it must have only been about 10 or 15 minutes,

5:32

but it felt about like two hours. I was in there

5:34

by myself. Yeah, it

5:36

does. Time goes really slow when you feel

5:38

like a prick. Definitely,

5:41

yeah, dragged out quite a bit that time. I

5:44

feel you, babe. I'm being there. Did

5:47

you have any inkling what was going

5:49

on at any point? Because I think

5:51

we did a really good job of

5:54

keeping both shows running simultaneously and

5:56

keeping you guys in the dark.

6:00

production value on the favourite was good enough.

6:02

Yeah, yeah. I felt like we

6:04

were doing okay. The only time where ever I was

6:06

like, what the fuck is going on? It was when

6:08

that morph was chasing you around. In

6:11

that moment, I was thinking, they're going to

6:13

think they're being punked in this moment. I

6:15

remember being so fucking confused. Yeah. No,

6:18

no. It's

6:21

either we were all just really numb or dense

6:23

to what was going on or you just did,

6:25

I just had a fantastic job at keeping them

6:27

both separate. I think I don't

6:29

envy Grimy at all. If I was

6:31

in his role and I had to remember to say the

6:33

favourite and then Josh Moss win with you guys, I definitely

6:36

would have messed it up and I would have given it

6:38

away. Oh God, I fell for Grimy.

6:40

I don't know how we did this. Honestly,

6:42

when he walked in, I obviously recognised

6:44

him. I couldn't place him. I was

6:46

like, oh, I know you. And then

6:49

obviously, it's being the favourite and nothing

6:51

more to us. We just, I

6:53

think me and Jeanette and Sophia had a conversation.

6:55

It's like the last thing that you expect when

6:57

everything else is going on around you. It's like,

7:00

oh, hang on, maybe this isn't a show in

7:02

a show on another show.

7:04

There's just all the layers. But

7:07

no, you obviously, all of you did

7:09

a fantastic job and watching

7:11

it back, it was just so, so much

7:14

more in depth. And I couldn't

7:16

explain it really well to anyone who I was allowed to tell.

7:18

And then they watched it. I was like, oh, I get what

7:20

you meant. And I was like, yeah, I didn't explain it very

7:22

well. So honestly, though, I was exactly

7:24

the same because we filmed it so far

7:27

in advance to when it was actually like

7:29

T.S. is it? And everyone

7:32

was like, is that show you made ever going

7:34

to be on? And I was like, yes, it

7:36

is coming on. I don't know

7:38

if they told you this, but the reason they

7:40

waited so long is because Channel 4 and A4

7:42

were so proud of what they've created. That's

7:45

what I said. And they were so

7:47

they had so much faith in

7:49

this, like, almost

7:51

this brand new format. But this new,

7:53

like, I suppose,

7:55

like the the Gia shift for reality

7:57

TV that they would invoke. they

8:00

don't want it to be on at the same time

8:02

as any of their shows. So like

8:05

when we finished filming last year, like it became

8:07

like the reality TV juggernaut that was Love Island

8:09

started then of course, yeah, yeah. Big Brother

8:12

happened. Then it rolls into

8:14

like I'm a celeb and Strictly Territory. And then

8:16

we have the All-Star. So I'm just like, Oh

8:18

my God, is it ever going to be a

8:20

break? And we answer, yeah, is it ever

8:23

going to be a break for it? But yeah, so

8:25

when I was trying to explain it to everybody, I

8:27

was like, it's kind of like a show in a

8:29

show and everyone thinks they're on this one show. But

8:31

actually what we're doing is championing this young lad called

8:33

Josh Walla lot and people are like, I'm just going

8:35

to wait and watch it. I'll say,

8:37

yeah, I think it's a hard one

8:39

to explain. I found. But

8:41

yeah, no, they said the same thing. I said, we

8:43

want this to do really well. And if we didn't

8:45

think anything of it, we'd just get out whenever. But

8:47

we we're trying to find that sweet spot where we

8:49

can put it in between two shows. I actually said

8:51

like Big Brother and I'm a celeb and Strictly came

8:53

out and all the rest of it. I

8:56

was kind of thinking like, when is

8:58

it our turn? Yeah, is it when

9:00

when hello, do you still mess up

9:02

so much? And honestly,

9:05

what are you like keeping secrets? Because the

9:07

year I did the jungle, I

9:09

had fucking told absolutely everybody. I

9:14

I found that when I drink, I get a bit. I

9:19

was with anything like that. So I

9:21

have to do everybody. Yeah, yeah. So

9:23

I had to be very careful who who

9:25

I was drinking around and who knew and

9:27

who didn't. And they all became a bit

9:29

jungled. Like, I think he knows. I don't

9:31

think he knows. And they're together. So I

9:33

can't say anything. But then people obviously come

9:35

up and ask you about it. And like

9:37

working a normal hospitality job every day, my

9:39

manager was like, when's the show of yours

9:41

coming out? It's like, I don't actually know.

9:44

But it's on its way. I promise

9:46

you. Everybody think and you're like, OK,

9:48

lie. And there is no show.

9:50

Honestly, I've had about four or

9:52

five people say that I definitely thought you were lying. Well,

9:56

you proved them wrong, so didn't you? Yeah,

9:58

yeah. When they were watching. I wasn't lying. I

10:03

mean, tell me a little bit about

10:05

what life looked for you like before

10:07

all of this, you know, because we

10:10

had a small sneak peek into it

10:12

and you know, I

10:14

absolutely fell for

10:16

you as soon as I found out you had four chocolate

10:18

labs. But yeah, tell me a little bit about your life

10:20

outside of the show before you started. It

10:23

was literally just what I've been doing for a

10:25

year. Like since I was 17, I started training

10:27

and then all I was doing was training and

10:29

wrestling and just doing that on repeat. Like it

10:32

became so entrenched

10:34

in my mindset that if I'm working on wrestling,

10:36

if I'm not wrestling, I'm working. So it's very

10:38

much just like the same, the

10:40

norm every day. And

10:43

then obviously, you know, you have this massive thing

10:45

coming out. But before I even got contacted about

10:47

it, it was just I was so dead set

10:49

on being like a famous wrestler. That's all I

10:51

ever thought about. And then

10:53

obviously in the time since show comes

10:55

out, my priorities and aspirations and wrestling

10:57

changes have actually stopped at the moment.

10:59

So I'm not allowed to be a

11:01

fan again, which is nice. But yeah,

11:03

it was just going to work, going

11:05

to training in the evening with very

11:07

much the same. I was very

11:09

boring. I didn't do much. No,

11:12

Ruzin isn't boring like it's

11:14

good. Consistency is key.

11:17

Yeah. But when I think when

11:19

you've got that routine going and not much is coming

11:21

from it for years on end, you're like, maybe

11:24

a time for a change. And then obviously, it changes

11:26

the as you say, I

11:28

that can be demoralizing. In terms of reality

11:30

TV before you did, Josh must win. Were

11:32

you a fan of any shows? I

11:37

think much religiously watch I'm a celeb every

11:39

year. And that's not

11:41

on my bucket list. I really want to get in the

11:44

jungle. Honestly, speaking from

11:46

experience, it is very natural. I

11:48

would walk to Australia if that's what I meant being

11:50

meeting on the show. Well,

11:53

they normally fly first class, so I wouldn't worry.

11:55

Oh, well, that's why I say my legs. We'll

11:57

do that. Yeah. But

11:59

no. No, apart from like the main ones,

12:01

I kind of fantasized a big

12:04

brother, but then I fell out of interest

12:06

with it. But I'm a Seb, was just

12:08

the main one every year. But a lot

12:10

of Ireland, I never got into anything like

12:12

that. The, I think loaded in paradise or,

12:14

you know, anything that I just, it

12:16

was so under the radar for me, I have no clue

12:18

about it. So I feel like I had

12:20

to get quite adapting,

12:22

equipped with the ICT being the

12:24

one myself. Yeah, well, we

12:27

certainly did throw you

12:29

in at the depend.

12:32

What were the highlights of the experience for

12:34

you? Like, is there a moment that really

12:36

stands out? Is that, oh, that was really

12:38

nice. I can't

12:40

say there are many bad moments. I think

12:43

the toughest one, the toughest

12:45

day was definitely the first

12:47

one, just because it was

12:49

so overwhelming. But the punishment challenge was

12:52

memorable just because of what we did and all the rest

12:54

of it. The egg one, because it was kind of like

12:56

we knew we were winding down to a time to enjoy

12:58

all the challenges while we still

13:01

can. I

13:03

thought the party that we had would be

13:05

a memorable one, but that became the most

13:08

awkward party in the ICT. Was that when

13:10

Louis and Miles fell out? Yeah, yeah. We

13:12

hadn't seen that, you know, like

13:16

we spent so long in this

13:18

little, you seen the room we

13:20

were in the whole time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And honestly, we were in

13:22

there for like 16 hours a day, mate.

13:25

For everybody who watched it, it was exactly

13:27

how it seemed, the little control room. There

13:29

was no air, there was no windows, it

13:32

was just like breathing someone else's breath.

13:34

16 hours a day. And I

13:36

love Pete, Amber and Nick, but that wasn't

13:39

a lot for anybody. We were

13:42

in there for so long and I

13:44

was absolutely fuming when I watched that

13:46

episode because I was like, how many

13:48

hours did our folkmen sit in that

13:51

room? And I was unaware of this

13:53

argument. Like how could I have missed

13:55

it? And it was so spicy as

13:57

well. Like I echo Nick's

14:00

And then fight Louis Geforce loves around.

14:03

Lately. It's lives threat obsolete. Hell is other

14:05

and the like. I'm not mad as I was

14:07

of the same at his age. I think

14:09

it's hilarious, but I do think that

14:11

would have been really. Awkward They all to

14:13

the involved. Or. Yeah because of it

14:16

was like a combination of today where we

14:18

do done of those thing we were afraid

14:20

of the most I'm a ahmad how about

14:22

presented we looked at removes all the he

14:24

made his to be view of leave man.

14:27

Lot. Miles comes in that semenov heart musical

14:29

without jacket. the out on and it's just

14:31

with we we know like where you could

14:33

tell his phases like when they say with

14:36

the couch because of the about people so

14:38

much you see its phases and then movie

14:40

and moises look each other. you think voters

14:42

lists of Hollywood's it's this is mrs those

14:45

two now and then it was ah strides

14:47

keep the peace as a member looking at

14:49

jock or is and canvases can all good.

14:51

I do think six. Miles and

14:54

Lily like just such big personalities. How

14:56

many gotcha that he wanted? Bayless go

14:58

in a closet with he trusts as

15:00

as I love for Louis sense and

15:03

he says like they speak so much

15:05

now. Also is tommy the same fate

15:07

of not one of that the other the other

15:09

way as I think most is off beat them

15:11

every day as I lost. Completely. Contrast

15:14

for I know you to asses. Yeah,

15:17

Family that bury the hatchet and the opposite they

15:19

are. that. Sir A party that love each

15:21

other now. I see the all

15:23

well and oh fair in northern route is.

16:43

Outside the environment of the house, I

16:45

know we did our best to try

16:47

and make it enjoyable and fun, but

16:49

regardless of our best efforts, it is

16:51

still reality TV and all of those

16:54

situations again, speaking from experience, are

16:56

a complete pressure cook I made. Emotions

16:58

are running high, feelings

17:01

are completely escalated and

17:04

everything's just exacerbated by the

17:07

situation. I think outside of

17:09

that, I can understand why you

17:11

can say things a bit differently and people can get

17:13

on. Yeah, absolutely. Again,

17:16

when you're around each other so much, I think

17:18

people come in with an expectation of reality TV.

17:20

I definitely went in with an expectation of the

17:22

sort of people I'll be in there with and then

17:25

they all walk through the door and I was thinking,

17:27

oh Jesus Christ, what am I doing here? But

17:30

as you go on, I love Gillette and Louis,

17:34

but you do need your own space

17:36

and you need to remove yourself from

17:38

situations. But I think if it was a couple

17:41

of years ago, me and Miles

17:43

would have clashed massively because I would have

17:45

risen to what, like that little game that he

17:47

was trying to play, I definitely would have been. It would have

17:49

been like me and Miles instead

17:51

of Miles and Louis. But I

17:54

knew people come in with a game plan,

17:56

you know what they're trying to do. I

18:00

can't be asked with these little games in here. There's

18:02

so much else you should say going on. The

18:04

last thing you want to think about is some stupid little

18:06

comment that someone made to you. And

18:09

I do feel like what we saw, especially as like,

18:11

you know, the I don't know what

18:13

you'd even call us, the puppeteers, like so creepy.

18:16

But like we definitely saw that you didn't

18:18

rise to anything. I thought you were quite

18:20

measured. I thought you were quite grown up,

18:22

quite mature. And I'm sure the

18:25

viewers saw that as well. But I

18:28

wondered because we were so

18:30

keen to show that we were challenging people's

18:33

perceptions of you. Did

18:35

anybody in there like challenge your perception

18:37

of what a typical reality TV star

18:39

would be? Because I know you

18:42

and that isn't

18:44

your normal crowd. It is TV

18:46

show you would watch. But I watched you fall in

18:48

love with people in there. Like I

18:50

like your relationship with Jeanette and Louis

18:52

was so gorgeous. Like how you fell

18:55

for Sophia, who, by the way, is

18:57

just like cute as a bunny in a

18:59

bow tie. I don't challenge anyone. Not love. Yeah.

19:02

So I think you potentially went in there, especially

19:04

on your first day, feeling some type of way

19:06

about the people who were in there. And I

19:09

watched you really grow to love them. So I

19:11

wonder how that shocked you. Yeah.

19:14

Yeah. Remember that episode where

19:16

we were like taking our first impressions of

19:18

each other? So I said, I hated her

19:20

when she walked through the door because she

19:22

had this massive person that she came in

19:24

like like jumping and bouncing off the walls.

19:26

I thought, oh, God, there's another one. But,

19:28

you know, it's that perception that changed

19:31

pretty much instantly. As soon as we had

19:33

the first conversation, we just completely fell in

19:35

love with each other. And I knew I

19:38

knew there was something in Maddie, but I

19:40

feel like she was tied to Jack and

19:42

Miles. And then when they left, she was

19:44

like free to be herself. And Maddie's like,

19:46

people don't realize how funny Maddie is. Oh,

19:49

I know. Honestly, there was some comments she made that had

19:51

me absolutely decked me. I was really

19:53

pulled with like a deck chair over

19:55

her. She's great, which is a Jodi girl. Like

19:58

you can't forget that. Yeah. No,

20:00

she was found like she had me in

20:02

tears when she was reacting to

20:04

her photos. That was like something that was filmed

20:07

but that was like, you know, in the lull

20:09

periods where you're in between scenes

20:11

and she's just rambling off some comment or

20:13

some story and she's got you in tears

20:15

because of just how she is. So I

20:19

feel like she, I'm glad she got

20:21

the chance to show that she's really

20:25

bloody funny. But yeah, like

20:28

I kind of always had a bit of a relationship

20:30

with Louis like as soon as I saw him just

20:32

because I feel like I would get on

20:34

with him if I were to go on a night out. So

20:37

Fia was a bit toned down but

20:39

definitely Maddie and Jeanette, they walked in,

20:41

all guns blazing. I thought like this

20:44

is someone I'm going to carry on with and now I

20:46

speak to them too much every day. I

20:49

love that you support such good

20:51

friendships, so nice. Yeah. Obviously

20:55

our goal was to make you look great

20:58

and it really worked

21:01

but I think you made yourself look good

21:03

as well. Thank you. You didn't need much

21:05

of our help, like you're a really nice

21:07

person and the audience and the viewers they

21:10

saw that so we've had loads of questions

21:12

come in from people

21:14

who are just like super keen to know

21:16

the real Josh. So I

21:18

thought I would ask some

21:20

of them. Okay, Luciana wants

21:24

to know who was

21:26

your favourite player in the game? Well

21:30

I chose Jeanette as my favourite but

21:32

it was always a toss-up team, her

21:34

and Louis. But splitting

21:37

hairs between those two, I think, you

21:40

know, they know I love them both but I'd say if I have

21:42

to pick a favourite it might be, might

21:44

just buy a hair Jeanette.

21:47

You're such a savage, like I would be so

21:49

diplomatic there. I'd be like oh I can't choose, I

21:51

can't choose but like here's Josh, just like woke up

21:53

today and chose violence. I love that. But you

21:55

know, they know how important they

21:57

are to you. Oh absolutely. could

22:00

see that. Obviously three best friends. Amy

22:03

wants to know how your confidence has grown since

22:06

being on the shore and she also adds you're

22:08

a beautiful insider now. Oh

22:10

right. It's

22:13

definitely gone up, I'll

22:15

say that much because

22:18

you know I think that when people come up to you

22:20

just like strangers are just happy to see you and you're

22:23

not forced into a conversation but a conversation that

22:25

happens out of nowhere you have to be personable

22:27

and you can't just shut down because they are

22:30

just happy to see you. So I think in

22:32

I've definitely seen the change not

22:35

so much like when we came out of filming but since

22:37

the shows come out I think there's

22:39

definitely been like more of a jump

22:41

in confidence myself. So I'm kind

22:43

of in my I

22:46

think one of my friends put it in my f**k

22:48

about era at the moment.

22:51

As in with the ladies Josh

22:53

or just in general? A

22:55

bit of both I'd say. I'll say in

22:58

general because I don't want to say anything

23:00

too far but as I

23:02

said I'm enjoying myself so. Okay well.

23:04

A bit of a round. All

23:07

day for me to stop you

23:09

enjoying yourself but just remember we all liked you

23:11

because you were lovely and kind. Don't go being

23:13

some arse man. Oh no no no I'm still

23:16

lovely again. You better be. That's

23:18

not changing. Good

23:20

because otherwise this experiment is um really.

23:22

It's clear. Yeah Do

23:27

you know honestly like so weird you see like people coming

23:29

up me in Totney and stuff I've just made another show

23:31

with E4 there and

23:34

I was speaking to some of the commissioners who are just raving

23:36

about you by the way and they

23:38

basically said it's been their most successful

23:41

launch of a new series in about like

23:43

two years or something. Oh wow. Yeah and

23:45

the ratings are amazing and blah everybody

23:47

loves it so I can imagine like people

23:50

are stopping here and talking to you in

23:52

the street because you've got quite a distinctive

23:54

look. Are you coping okay with that? Like

23:56

I used to fucking hate it especially when

23:58

I was on Joy's Day. show because I

24:00

just knew people were going to I didn't know how they

24:02

were going to approach us like you

24:04

know since the jungle in Masterchef and everything else

24:07

like most of them are really lovely and I

24:09

have really nice chats and I'm so in

24:11

the space I'm in it's really nice

24:13

to watch my shows but when it was Geordie

24:15

Shaw I thought what are they gonna say like

24:17

people had such a device I was a divisive

24:19

character they had such a divided opinion of it

24:21

I was like oh this isn't gonna be nice

24:23

or not so I used to be so nervous

24:26

but I feel like because of the way you

24:28

come across because of the person you are surely

24:30

everyone's just being like oh I loved you well

24:32

done it's literally that

24:34

is 99% of the conversations that I

24:36

have you do have a few people

24:38

who like kind of invade

24:40

personal space and cross a bit of a line

24:42

to have to like calm them down but I'm

24:44

you know I'm still happy to talk to them

24:47

but it's just yeah 99% are just saying how

24:50

how lovely the show was how much they fair love

24:52

with me and they like

24:54

like almost surprised to know that I

24:57

am how I am like

24:59

have watched me like there's been a few people thinking

25:01

oh I thought you'd be completely different I thought it

25:03

was like an act or something you're putting on I

25:06

know I'm just I'm like it's

25:09

like if I can blow my own

25:11

heart I do try to be very

25:13

respectful of people very polite people um

25:16

but people are surprised it's just

25:18

just how I am and that's that's that's the

25:20

best thing for me yeah no I

25:22

think that's such a big compliment like people the

25:25

people's biggest surprise about me is that I'm small

25:29

they're always like you're so tiny and I was like I

25:31

know I look giant on the telly but in the morning

25:34

you're still taller than me I mean it's not hard to be taller than

25:36

me but you're still so am I we love

25:38

a short king in this household Josh

25:40

my fiance is oh

25:43

he's gone yeah he's not exactly

25:45

fucking Peter Crouch so um you're

25:47

in good company babes as far as

25:49

I'm concerned um we are running out

25:51

of time um and I've

25:53

absolutely loved short and dear I do have

25:55

one last question which has kind

25:57

of been on my mind since the short And

26:00

somebody's wrote in and said it so I feel

26:03

like I can ask it under the guise of

26:05

this person, but actually I was actually you I am

26:07

so desperate to know the answer to it This

26:09

would hurt my feelings if it was a certain answer,

26:12

but I'm gonna ask it anyway No,

26:15

no, be yourself answer however you want.

26:17

Um, were you disappointed? It wasn't

26:19

the public that saved you and we'd sort

26:21

of been tinkering away. How did

26:23

that make you feel? Because I had a cold

26:26

message me about that and I was like, I

26:28

feel like I Haven't

26:30

asked him this question that I should It's

26:33

not anything I thought like I just

26:35

appreciated being saved in general Because

26:38

we weren't sure how the voting was working Like

26:40

we kind of had an idea that they had

26:42

people in a room watching us. We didn't obviously

26:44

know it was you guys Yeah But

26:47

if I kind of went into the show

26:49

with the mindset of if I'm in here a

26:52

day great Whatever, but then when you do get

26:54

saved being so convinced that you're gonna go home

26:57

You just love anyone who's put you in that position

26:59

to stay So I wasn't

27:01

disappointed it was you guys not by

27:04

any means I was just very grateful and

27:06

appreciative that you did keep it Obviously,

27:09

well, you know Josh must win It's

27:13

been mad the public's reaction to

27:16

it like seeing somebody who is

27:19

Kind and normal and nice and like

27:21

has all of these like really brilliant

27:23

qualities that actually I don't think I

27:25

celebrated enough within the reality TV space

27:27

Yeah shows me that

27:32

The the world of TV was ready for a bit

27:34

of a shake-off Awful

27:37

lot of pressure like that is You

27:41

played such a big part in something that I

27:43

think is a really pivotal moment in British reality

27:45

TV Like yeah, do you

27:47

feel? Did you feel any

27:50

type of way about that? Like do you feel the pressure?

27:52

Do you feel excited? Do you just feel that it was

27:54

a necessary change that needed to

27:56

happen in this space and you're part proud to be a

27:58

part of it absolutely all of

28:00

the above. It's just, you know, you get it. I'm

28:04

telling the hell out. No, it's not. It's

28:07

not so much stress. It's just like, I know this

28:09

is a really big thing that's changed reality, I think

28:12

for the better. So being

28:14

like the catalyst and being the first

28:16

person, like really have a

28:18

spotlight put on them and take

28:20

it into a new venture. It's just

28:23

really humbling to me being like

28:26

that first person. Like I know

28:28

this does mean a lot to

28:30

reality TV, seeing something completely masquerade

28:33

as like a usual favorite reality TV

28:35

show, be something completely different. So

28:38

I can't say that I've actually thought about the

28:40

question of it until you've said it. But

28:44

yeah, basement on my head. No,

28:48

it's just that I do realize it

28:50

is a big change and a big shape up

28:52

in reality TV. And it's

28:54

just I'm honored and so

28:57

grateful to be at the forefront of that change.

28:59

I think it's change for the better. I think it

29:01

was long overdue. I think it was well

29:03

needed. So to be that first person,

29:06

it's just it's mad. It's absolutely dug

29:08

into my completely mental that I am

29:10

the one who has been have a

29:12

spotlight on them for this change. But

29:14

I'm honest. None of this is me.

29:17

But I think you were the right man for the job,

29:19

if I'm honest. Thank you. And

29:22

like I just got a couple of

29:24

little questions. OK,

29:27

so. Anybody

29:29

who's listening to this, who is feeling like

29:31

they're struggling to be their authentic self and,

29:34

you know, they're potentially being something they're not to

29:36

try and fit in. Do you have a message

29:38

for them? Yeah, absolutely.

29:41

Because I I always thought that if I

29:43

went home when I was up for elimination,

29:46

I would really tell myself a disservice because

29:48

it wasn't like I didn't get to show

29:50

myself. And it was only after the fact

29:52

that when I got saved and I carried

29:54

on with the show, what you saw is

29:56

just who I am. Like that horrible dancing

29:58

I multiply the people saw. I

30:00

forgot that I did. That's just me. I

30:02

do that at home all the time. Just

30:05

out of habit, I just do

30:07

it. But I think it

30:09

is really, really important to be yourself

30:11

and just not give a shit what

30:14

anyone thinks of you. Because when

30:16

you are yourself, you have the best time. And

30:18

I have the best time being myself. So

30:20

I've definitely been there. I've definitely felt like

30:23

I have to play some sort of character

30:25

and live up to certain expectations that are

30:27

set on me. But it's only until you

30:29

realise that what you want out of your own life, what

30:31

you want to look at yourself and see,

30:33

I think, just go with that and it

30:35

will be your best way to judge yourself. Oh,

30:38

I love that, Josh. And before I let you go,

30:40

here at Vicky Patterson, The Secret 2, we

30:43

always ask our gorgeous guests to give our lovely listeners

30:45

a couple of pearls of wisdom. What

30:47

you did within the reality TV space with a little bit of

30:49

help from us, of course, was

30:51

you broke them all. You challenged

30:54

perceptions. You gave

30:57

lovely audiences who were

30:59

crying out for something different. You

31:02

gave them that. And I think you

31:04

gave a lot of people a bit of hope about

31:06

what reality TV might look like in the

31:08

future. Sure. So I want to

31:10

know what your secret is to breaking the world. Again,

31:14

I think it ties into what that question you

31:16

just asked me, being yourself. I think

31:19

there are so many people like me, and

31:21

I've had so many people who have come up to me and said,

31:25

I was living by care for you in the

31:27

house because this is how I am. I

31:29

do get sick of people. I do need my

31:31

own space. And you have to be on all

31:33

the time. So I am

31:36

really floored by how many people have said that

31:38

they've seen a lot of themselves in me,

31:40

and it was good for them to be

31:43

represented through me on the show on such

31:45

a massive scale. So I

31:47

think it definitely needed the mold breaking.

31:51

And I think the

31:53

whole era of big personalities being

31:55

on all the time, pretending to be someone

31:57

they're not, I think that's a bit dead in the water now. to

32:01

move towards a more real

32:03

reality TV presentation. So

32:06

to be the one, like my

32:08

personality, break that mold of all the,

32:11

you know, all the fake bollocks basically,

32:13

that you see on every TV, reality

32:15

TV show, to be that person that

32:17

kind of stands against that and lead

32:19

the charge in a new

32:22

era, you know, that will

32:24

never not be mental to me, and will never not mean

32:26

a lot to me, that you guys

32:28

picked me out of position to be that change. Well,

32:32

honestly, Josh, I think we definitely picked the

32:34

right man for the job. Thanks

32:37

so much. You're so welcome. It's been

32:39

a pleasure to talk to you today, and I

32:42

wish you the very best of luck with whatever

32:44

happens next. Thank you so much. Thank you for

32:46

having me, and hopefully I'll see you at some point. This

32:49

can't be the end of us. We have to go on somehow.

32:52

We should all have a big reunion. Yes.

32:55

I would adore to do that. We'll all turn

32:58

off at your house unannounced, and we'll have a

33:00

big reunion. Do you

33:02

know how many people have gone to me? Is Josh coming

33:04

to your wedding? And I'll say, this

33:06

is the lad who I've known for a long time.

33:10

I mean, if the invitation's there,

33:12

Vicky, I'm up for it. Oh

33:15

my gosh, okay, I'll send you an invite. Not to

33:17

invite myself to your wedding, but you know, I could

33:19

make myself for you on the day. You're

33:22

the fucking star of the show. I'm not having

33:24

you upstage me, you're not bad. I

33:27

can't upstage you. I'm not that

33:44

Well guys, hello, it's the morning. We

33:46

all make everybody's favourite hotel dogs. The

33:48

star of Josh Must Win, Josh Paul.

33:51

I'm sure you can tell by now, I've got to prop

33:53

myself up for Josh. He's just

33:55

such a really honest, really lovable

33:57

character, and he truly deserves his little

33:59

moment. in the sun. If you haven't already

caught up on Josh Must Win, please do. It's

34:03

a great show. Bit of bias because they are

minute myself but I was very proud of this.

34:08

So like we sort of changed the narrative a

34:10

little bit of reality TV helps making a bit

34:12

more of a positive, more inclusive space which was

34:14

really nice to be a part of something kind

34:17

of pivotal I think. Maybe I'm just like tooting

34:19

my own horn. Yeah,

34:21

yeah absolutely fantastic

34:23
