Growth: taking steps towards spiritual growth.
WHY? We aren’t meant to be stagnant in our faith. Hebrews 5:11-6:1 Warning Against Apostasy (mandate for spiritual growth).
WHAT is spiritual growth?
It is spiritual maturity.
MATURITY in the world: decrease dependence on parent, increase independence to be healthy adults.
SPIRITUAL MATURITY: increase dependence on God- our Heavenly Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit, decrease independence on ME
John 3:30: He must become greater, I must become less.
More CHRIST: Closer, more intimate walk with Christ; surrender and obedience to the Lordship of Christ (living life so that it is more and more aligned with God’s Word), working for Christ’s Great Commission Mission (let’s go and make disciples)
HOW do we “Spur one another on toward love and good deeds?”
1. People won’t care about what you know until they know that you care about them. Be in touch with your people. Be sensitive to what is going on in their lives.
EASY WAY: when reaching out to your team re: schedule, updates, etc… : always end with “please let me know how I can be praying for you”
2. Keep up the awesome work of making sure team members are attending worship service.
3. Encourage team to be in the Word:
- Share scripture that you have been meditating, or that spoke to you recently.
- Forward devotionals you have read.
- Get in the Word as a team. Great resource: YouVersion’s Bible App allows you to virtually do a plan with other people.
4. Don’t forget: your own spiritual growth as well.

PJ Leaders Gathering – Monday, Jan 13. 7pm – Please get this on your calendar. I realize its quickly approaching after a busy season, but you don’t want to miss it! This will be where we present a Quarterly Report for our campus from our Campus Direction and Next Steps Teams. It is the story of our campus, and it’s important for you, your captain, and anyone else with leadership potential on your team to be there. The stories shared are ones you’ll want to share with your team. We will also be sharing what’s coming in 2020 for our campus with Let’s Go Love!
