This weekends spotlight event is the Portland Winter Light Festival Which runs Thursday through Saturday night from 6pm - 11pm. on both the East side at the Eastbank Esplanade, OMSI and the Oregon Rail Heritage Museum as well as the West side at Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the World Trade Center.  The Portland Streetcar is free after 5pm to give viewers a chance to see all of the exhibits.  The live events include an “Illuminated Bike Ride” starting at 7:30pm on Friday, and the Lantern Parade on Saturday night from 6-7:30.  Other events include the Glow Jam, a Fun LUv’n Silent Disco and a performance by the LED Hula Hoop Troupe.



The featured concert this weekend is the Stone Temple Pilots on Sunday night at the Roseland Theatre at 8pm



  

There is lots of music this weekend at all the usual venues:


 On Friday Night American Authors, Magic Giant play the Wonder Ballroom at 9pm - Magic Giant is is most notably known for their Billboard hit single, "Set On Fire."


The Doug Fir hosts instrumental electronic rock band Caspian at 9pm  - 


while “Minnesota” plays the Crystal Ballroom 


and “Pink Talking Fish” are at Mississippi Studios starting at 9pm


Finally Dark Star Orchestra plays the Roseland Theater at 8pm - Dark Star Orchestra is a Grateful Dead tribute band and has been performing since 1997




On Saturday night we have 


Goth Babe at the Wonder Ballroom 


Marcus King Band at the Crystal Ballroom and 


Dweezil Zappa at the Roseland Theatre 


The Oregon Symphony is in session at the Schnitz on both Friday and Saturday with a 7:30 show Friday night and a 2pm matinee on Saturday.


Rounding out the live music for the weekend is Big Business at Mississippi Studios on Sunday night at 9pm




In Non-Music related happenings around Portland this weekend


The One Motorcycle show takes over the Memorial Coliseum Starting at 5pm on Friday and running through Sunday.  Hosted by See See Motorcycle, and sponsored by Indian Motorcycle, rr b   the Motorcycle show will feature over 200 bike builds on display, 70 vendors, a flat track race and live music.


Also on Saturday, The Harlem Globetrotters are in town on Saturday with two performances  at the Moda Center at 2pm and 7pm


The entire Rose Quarter/Convention Center area will be busy this weekend with conventions and events.

capped off by the Portland Trailblazers playing the red hot Miami Heat on Sunday at 6pm
