What to do in Portland this Weekend!

It’s going to be a busy weekend in Portland! All of the big venues have activities and the music venues are poppin with some great shows. The weather has been beautiful the last couple of days for February, but it looks like the rain returns on Sunday so bring the rain coats! On NoFOMOFriday, don’t fear missing out, here is what’s happening in Portland this weekend! And if you find yourself thinking “Wait, what did he just say?” There is a full transcription of the episode in the show notes! You’re Welcome!

Friday, February 21st

The Portland International Auto show begins at 10am and runs through Sunday. Booth Babes, Lambos a car giveaway and free admission for kids under 12 on Sunday will bring 100k visitors to the Convention Center over the weekend. The show will have over 600 cars from 35 manufacturers and I can’t afford any of them.

The Portland Trailblazers start the second half of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans at the Moda Center at 7:30PM. Dame will not be playing, but if you are a Basketball fan, this is your chance to see Zion Williamson in person as he was injured when the Pels were last in Portland.

For the Suburbanites among us who have outgrown Rock and Roll shows and Raves, The Portland Home and Garden Show runs through the weekend at the Expo Center

If you need a break from the DNC debates and GoFundMe campaigns on your Facebook feed, go laugh instead as the NW Black Comedy Festival takes over Harvey’s all weekend with shows Friday through Sunday featuring Chaz Carter, Debbie Wooden and others.

The Australian Indie Rock/Pop Quartet  “The Jungle Giants” are at the Doug Fir Lounge.  The Jungle Giants are compared to The Kooks, Two Door Cinema and the Last Dinosaurs. The band might want to stop by Proud Mary Coffee for a taste of home and maybe a vegemite sandwich.

Portland’s own cover band “Cadillacs for Everyone” is at the Ponderosa Lounge

Underground Hiphop duo “Atmosphere” brings the “Wherever Tour” to  Portland at the Roseland Theatre, featuring Slug the Rapper and Ant the DJ

It’s Western Oregon University night as the #1 ranked Portland Winterhawks play the Seattle Thunderbirds at 4:30pm at the Memorial Coliseum. The Jack in the Box “Smash for Cash” will give away $1000 to two lucky ticket holders.

The Oregon Ballet performs Sleeping Beauty at the Keller Auditorium and to round out the night,

“The Emo Night Tour” returns to Portland and brings it’s dance party DJ’s  to  the Hawthorne Theatre playing a mix of songs from all the well known artists of the Genre.

On Saturday, February 22nd in Portland

The Oregon Symphony is in session at the Schnitzer at 7:30pm

The Rap quartet Bug Thones N Harmony are at the Roseland Theatre

Murder by Death, the Indiana Indie (see what I did there), Rock Band appears at Revolution Hall at 8pm MBD emerged when their song “Go to the Light” was used in the Destiny 2 trailer coinciding with the demise of the Cayde-6 character.

Rolling Stone calls Dave Hause’s pop-rock music “irresistible” and his followers multiplied exponentially when his song Saboterurs was used on the Showtime series “Billions”.  Hause brings his band The Mermaid to play Mississippi Studios Saturday night. I’ve got him rocking in my headphones right now, as I read this mesmerizing copy.

If you are feeling boozy and want to sample some spirits, 25 oregon Distilleries will post up at The R
