really enjoying this one so far. effective premise and presentation, awesome story building, along with great character performances (seriously i love everyone’s voices) and writing all bringing this mystery to life, i cannot wait for more as it continues to unfold!!
Treading the familiar found footage route, Wake of Corrosion rises above other similar shows due to the compelling world and central mystery that carefully build throughout the first series. Like The White Vault, the mystery and isolation of the main characters ratchets up the tension, the questions, and our attachment to the two brothers. There are absolutely terrifying and shocking moments, which I won't spoil here, but are played out to perfection.I'd recommend this to any fan of audio horror.
This an audio drama that made the right decisionswhere they count. Proper pacing, a natural story cadence, good sound effects. And often the downfall of many works of audio fiction is the dialogue, however, Wake of Corrosion nimbly dodges the chasm many productions fall into. Great job!
What elevates this story from similar ones in this genre is the clever way the same story is told three different ways. Each of the brothers has their own way of recording the events that happen to them, a written journal and a voice recorder. Not only do they give us different perspectives, but their medium demands a different account: immediate realism from the recorder, and thoughtful introspection from the journal. But this story unfolds a third way as well, from the future, where Prof. Ryan's attempts to piece what happened together. It's an engaging, scary tale with a strong structure.
Right from the prelude, it pulls you into its gaping maw. The sound design in said prelude alludes to something enormous. It's terrifying. From here, we go off-grid into the highlands of full episodes. Our guide, Professor Ryan, carefully explains an event of some magnitude has forever altered the landscape of earth. Careful attention has been allotted to the sound of Ryan: it is EQ'd to sound as if it blasts from a speaker which has fallen prey to oxidation. The semi-found-footage format works very well here. These snippets are dangled strategically to leave the audience grasping for more. The sound design and foley work is EXACTLY what I like: realism. So, admittedly, I'm biased. But, I found their approach appropriate for this story and it betrays a cunning behind the curtain; these guys thought this out. It's always a challenge to review shows whilst avoiding spoilers. I shall just say that the episodes masterfully pull you in by dropping sufficient clues and curiosities at a perfect pace. Beware this show if you've no time to binge an entire season. It's that good.
First things first, if you are anything like me, know that things start slow. I was not satisfied with the drip feed mystery at the beginning, but it is critical to get a feel for the world and the main cast. I would suggest to anyone not hooked immediately to give it till the boys leave the forest. The characters are unique and realistic, the world feels fleshed out and well put together, and the mystery of what on earth is going on is compelling. If you like end of the world stories beyond a simple "zombie/alien/nuke" story, please check it out.
A fascinating slow build of a weird horror apocalypse.
Good podcast, suspenseful, and I like the apocalyptic premise. It would be better with fewer narration sequences and more action, as the narration tends to slow things down. Also, Elliot can become a bit tiresome. Otherwise - looking forward to the second season and hoping it won't be too depressing.
Deeply unsettling post-apoc audiodrama with a sprinkling of body horror. The interactions between the two brothers really make this story believable. Excellent writing, can't wait to hear more about this world.

Wonderfully mysterious and spooky story. Wake of Corrosion is narrated in a way that makes you feel like you are exploring the world right along with the main characters.Well done, creators.
Spins an enthralling yarn about the origin and cause of the end of the world, have not finished every episode yet but what I have listened to utilizes effective and believable sound effects and thoughtful pacing to creat a easily followed story, just don't expect to get ahead of it!
Wake of corrosion is a journey, I have to say i was sold on the characters the second they started talking . My partner and I decided to binge the series while driving in traffic over a few days and we were constantly sharing theories about what was going on . . . phenominal :)
