You probably know Barbara Corcoran as Shark Tank's straight-shooting business lady, who tells it like it is. But don’t be fooled by her powerful persona. Though she’s a true power player, she overcame many hurdles and setbacks to become a millionaire.

Her childhood wasn’t easy. She has dyslexia, and back when she was growing up, learning disorders weren’t treated with compassion. She also shared a small two-bedroom suite with nine siblings! Talk about starting life with the odds stacked against you!

As she started building her real estate career, her business partner (and boyfriend) left her for her secretary. He even told Barbara that ‘she’d never succeed without him’. (Boy, was he ever wrong!).

Not only that, but she almost lost the business during the "Black Monday" aftermath, and had to navigate a lawsuit against Donald Trump. But in the end, she beat the odds, and became the queen of New York real estate.
