In her keynote, Dr. Katie Martin asked us to rethink the traditional perception of what it means to be ‘smart’ and the importance of high expectations in impacting a student’s trajectory. She called for teachers to reflect on implicit biases and find ways to challenge the status quo. Knowing that pushback is likely, she encouraged us to be the good in the world that is needed.
