Most of the time, we tend to come across situations where we might find the character of a particular person(anyone) to be completely parallel to who they really tend to be inside; more often, this would seem pretentious considering the fact that a portrayed expression may not be as a result of the original intention thereby painting a picture of double interests and/or intent, which in other words may clearly state that at a particular time, during a particular situation or event, a said individual appeared to be what who or what they really aren't inside. Such a situation may be as a result of the environment, the people within that environment whom in most cases have a great impact and influence on one's being or it could be the intersocial relations that we as a people may be entertaining towards one another. Some people may tend to be shy in public and bold in private, others may tend to be arrogant and aggressive amidst a crowd whereas they are generally very gentle inside; others may appear to be good, generous and kind people while they really never had any goodwill or intention in mind. Such is the juxtapositions life has to offer and what finally matters is how we deal with these conflicting interests that we may either be trying to hide, portray or express at any given point in time. Thus, it is seldom said that "one may avoid failure by simply being one's self" and if amidst experiences, lessons faced in life and challenges confronted on daily, you rightfully decide to be one instead of two people both inside and outside of yourself, then the only possible result of such a personality will be a better version of yourself.
