The Capella Tower was once an office tower known as 225 South Sixth. It is a skyscraper and one of the most prestigious properties in the heart of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was opened in 1992 together with the first bank place that also served as the headquarters of the first banking system. The Capella Tower is also recognized as one of the biggest buildings in Minneapolis. Its ranking as the tallest building is still in argument. It was originally built one foot shorter out of respect to the IDS Center. But in 2005, contractors had furtively added 14 inches of height to the Capella, making it taller than the main roof of IDS Center. In the same year, the IDS counted the 4.9 m tall window washing garage built on its roof in 1979 as part of its actual height, making it taller than the Capella Tower.The Capella Tower was originally nicknamed as the Halo Building because it looks like it has a twinkling crown. It has a distinct illuminated semicircle on top which looks stylish. However, it is not just a decoration, it actually houses an antenna farm and communications network. The building has six-story cubes and several round towers which resemble the diverse styles of structures in downtown Minneapolis. In 2008, the longtime occupant of the building Capella Education Company and owner of fast-growing online Capella University signed an expanded lease that will change the name of the Halo Building to Capella Tower. The original works of art still appear in every corner of the first and second levels which definitely adds attractiveness and splendor to the tower’s interior. You can find farmer’s markets, Peace Coffee, fitness center, hair salon, art gallery, marble fountain and restaurants inside the Capella Tower.
