What Are You Pretending No To Know? is a weekly podcast by Michael Josephson that encourages listeners to think deeply about what moral truths they’re ignoring in their everyday life.Michael Josephson is an internationally renowned champion of character development and ethical conduct. Mr. Josephson’s public service journey began in 1987. After a distinguished 20-year career as a law professor and proprietor of a successful legal publishing company and bar exam preparation course, he resigned his tenured professorship and sold his business to fund the Joseph & Edna Josephson Institute of Ethics, a nonprofit charitable organization named in honor of his parents. Since it’s inception, Mr. Josephson has served as the Institute’s president without salary. All proceeds from his presentations and consultations go to the Institute. In 1992, he founded CHARACTER COUNTS!, a program credited with re-vitalizing and revolutionizing the character education movement. Based on a common language of shared ethical values (the Six Pillars of Character- trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship), CHARACTER COUNTS! reaches millions of young people and their families in the United States, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Bolivia. The most recent version, CHARACTER COUNTS! 5.0, is broader than the original program, expanded to focus more on school climate and include critical academic and life skills based on Mr. Josephson’s Model Standards for Academic, Social, Emotional and Character Development. Every year since 1993, the U.S. Senate has passed a bi-partisan joint resolution and the President has signed a proclamation declaring the third week in October National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week. For 17 years, Mr. Josephson delivered award-winning daily radio commentaries for CBS, American Forces Network and many other stations, resulting in two books of essays: Easier Said Than Done and The Best is Yet to Come.Mr. Josephson’s research, writings, radio commentaries, and consultations have produced ground-breaking strategies to promote ethical decision-making and the creation of values-based organizational cultures in law enforcement through the Exemplary Policing Initiative and in sports through the Institute’s Pursuing Victory With Honor program. Mr. Josephson is excited and honored to share some of these writing and commentaries on his podcast -- What Are You Pretending Not To Know?
