Meet Melissa Smith – Holistic Health Coach. Melissa focuses on issues around leaky gut, digestive issues, IBS, and anxiety. Melissa believes anxiety and gut health are linked.
I talk about my own anxiety around bathrooms. More common than you think.
Melissa ended up with Chicken Pox in her 20’s and it changed her entire digestive system. GI Doctors told her to just exercise or eat right, but it never worked. As she moved up the corporate ladder, her anxiety and stress became so overwhelming that she developed migraines and her gut health suffered.
Melissa tell us about the time she almost Poughkeepsied her pants and that was the moment she realized living with gut problems was not normal.
For Melissa it’s all about what we put into our bodies.
One of her problems with the healthcare system is that we treat the body separately. Our bodies are connected and should be treated more as a whole rather than so many specialists. We have to be our own advocate and it starts with our own self-love and self-care.

Then we talk self-care
Sometimes self-care feels indulgent but without it…well you’ll see where Melissa and I both ended up. The biggest takeaway here is to listen to your body and don’t ignore the signs.
It’s also vital to talk positively to yourself. I once had only Blair Waldorf quotes as affirmations and that contributed to my nervous breakdown.
