Wind Down with Janet Kramer and I

0:04

Heart Radio Podcast. Well,

0:06

this episode started a little bit off.

0:10

Okay, how can I pun this a little better?

0:12

This episode started with the

0:17

um, I walked into a big fart in the room,

0:19

and it smells like a big

0:21

fart right now. And apparently Mark has a really good

0:23

David space, so let's hear it. Well, we were just

0:25

talking and he came up. When

0:28

I first got to l A in the late nineties,

0:30

I needed to do things to get my SAG cards,

0:32

so I grabbed at extra job.

0:34

So I was a featured extra on an episode who just shoot

0:37

me? Okay, you can't

0:39

go look for because I was completely edited out of the whole

0:41

episode. But that's a whole other story. I'm

0:44

sorry. So I was. It's the episode with French

0:46

Stewart and um,

0:49

the woman Maya on the show is dating French

0:51

Stewart, and French Stewart's a puppeteer and

0:53

all of the problems he has with the relationship he

0:55

takes out in his puppets. It's a funny promise,

0:58

Know everything's Fine's his puppets are like you

1:00

like that all the time, you know, like it's funny.

1:02

Anyway, I was the puppeteer stage manager,

1:04

and I had to go and rip mya down from the set

1:07

of this puppeteer set when she was attacking

1:09

and strangling one of the puppets at the culmination

1:11

of the episode. Anyway,

1:14

so I'm on the set hanging out all week,

1:16

having a good time and just gorging on

1:18

free craft services. You know, it's all

1:20

this delicious free food, just going nuts and not really

1:23

bad gas. It was totally terrible. So

1:25

standing off to the side, and there was

1:27

a guy there that seemed to know Spade really well, David

1:29

Spade, and he was wearing he was total

1:32

Hollywood slick back hair, sunglasses,

1:34

indoors, black longsleeve

1:36

shirt, black pants, total Hollywood

1:38

age. And he had gotten there and I had seen

1:40

him because hugged Spade everything. So he's sitting in a folding

1:42

chair next to me, and I'm standing next to him, so he

1:44

is right at butt level. So

1:47

I've dropped a bomb, like

1:50

I can't even imagine. It was not loud,

1:53

but yeah,

1:55

it was like like I tears in my eyes

1:57

and my hair was straightening, like it was really

2:00

bad. And David Spade's

2:02

coming over to this guy because they just finished

2:04

a scene. So this guy jumps up

2:07

out of his chair, turns Spade around and

2:09

walks him in the other direction. And I thought, that

2:11

is some quality representation right there.

2:13

They just totally dodged the

2:15

fog. What a good agent

2:18

did they know? I mean, was there anyone

2:20

else around that you could have? Possibly? Because I'm a I'll

2:23

blame it on everyone else around me. I

2:25

think he probably set stay away from that guy. He

2:27

really something died in him. Have you told

2:29

David the story? Since I'm sure you've me I've

2:32

mentioned it when he's been in. I've

2:34

mentioned it to Ryan and as

2:36

the producers, but we never really get around to

2:38

it. But I'd like to tell him that story someday.

2:41

But then at the end of the week, the producer Steve Levitan,

2:43

who then created Modern Family, he came to watch

2:45

the run through and he said, I don't like

2:47

when that guy goes up to and pulls her off the stage,

2:49

which was me. And that was it, and then I was edited

2:52

out. There's no sign of me in the

2:54

episode. I'm sorry,

2:57

I got my side card, but I do have a question. Why

3:00

were you Were you wanting to be an actor? Yes,

3:03

I wanted to be on television. I wanted

3:05

to be a host, and I couldn't figure out any

3:07

kind of path to do that, so

3:10

I was just auditioning for anything that would have

3:12

me. Um. But yeah, I wanted my SADE

3:14

cards so I could start being on TV in whatever

3:17

capacity ended up being on TV. And my friend,

3:19

who already had lived here prior that we were living

3:21

with, he sent me and my roommates up with

3:23

these extra gigs so we could get our

3:25

side cards, because that's a big hurdle when you get to

3:27

l A is getting that union card. So then, yeah,

3:29

I know for sure, how did you I'm sorry

3:32

today's guest is but

3:36

how um what was

3:38

the switch to be behind camera then? Because

3:40

obviously that's

3:42

a longer story, but I'll just tell you it's

3:44

it was just, um, you know, failure reads

3:48

as the mother of necessity. So

3:51

I did three years of just

3:53

going out for everything I could go out for,

3:56

and I booked a ton of stuff right away. I

3:58

got too Independent Phil Homes, I

4:00

got a TV show, I got the just

4:02

Shooting Me thing, I got a whole bunch of stuff right

4:05

away, a commercial for Cores, and

4:07

then every one of those things kind of

4:09

fell apart and then that

4:11

was it. I never booked another thing in three years.

4:13

And that's when I decided to

4:15

start working at Disneyland because

4:17

I had an opportunity and I was like, I'll take whatever I

4:19

can get down because I'm almost out of money. I started

4:21

working there and

4:25

got it check and

4:28

then after three years at Disneyland, I got back

4:30

into radio. And that's how I had

4:32

it on this path. But when I was trying to get a job,

4:35

I set out my my old radio demo

4:37

to every station in l A. And Kiss

4:39

FM called and said, we do not want

4:41

you on the radio, but you seem

4:43

to have experience, so can you come and be

4:45

a producer and behind the scenes. And I said, yeah, yeah,

4:47

yeah, whatever you need. I'm married, now I need something. So that's

4:50

how this all came about. And now you work for Ryan Seacrest

4:52

and yeah, like that's a pretty good gig,

4:54

the biggest radio personality in the world.

4:57

It's worked out pretty well. I'm up two over eleven

4:59

years with Ryan. It's great, that's amazing. That's

5:01

so cool, and you know, we're very

5:03

honored to have you. Mark. I mean, you're a seasoned

5:06

season vets here, so you're hard

5:08

earned time to be with us a little people,

5:11

and this is a highlight of the week. I enjoy

5:13

you guys a lot. Well. I appreciate you being

5:16

you and sharing your story, and especially your fart

5:18

story, because I feel like we all have that really embarrassing

5:21

story. Um.

5:24

I don't know, maybe it's time to share mind since Mark

5:26

put himself out there. Great, you

5:28

haven't shared it on here yet? No, Remember I said I would

5:30

never share it. I mean I

5:32

remember this. I remember trying to get you to

5:35

do it. We were in studio in burbon I

5:38

mean, I'm just gonna lay my microphone down and let you

5:40

go. Should I but

5:44

like when people look at me differently, that

5:47

you're human and you're just like us. I

5:49

don't think it's a just like us kind of

5:52

thing. I don't think everyone

5:54

has this experience. No, I don't just

5:58

tell it. Easton's ready, Becky's

6:00

ready, Riley's ready. Our

6:02

wine down listeners are definitely ready.

6:06

Okay, And I've

6:10

never in my life shared this

6:12

besides two a few friends. Um

6:15

okay. So I was,

6:18

oh my good, Okay,

6:21

most embarrassing story here we go. I

6:24

was twenty Oh

6:27

gosh, how old was that? It was? Right before I booked

6:29

One Tree Hill, um, and

6:33

I was I had just moved into my

6:35

boyfriend Jonathan Check's house and

6:37

who's actually now a very good friend. His wife is,

6:40

um, you know, our best friend. So

6:42

I just moved into his house up in the

6:44

beech Wood Canyon Hills and

6:48

uh, it was,

6:50

you know, a very small batch up pad. It was probably like

6:52

a six square foot

6:54

bachelor pad. And so I was like, I gotta like girly

6:57

this place up a little bit. So I

7:00

start going online, um,

7:02

looking for some shades, and

7:05

I was like, oh, bed Beth and Beyond has these awesome

7:07

shades. I'm kind of giving you guys a long story,

7:09

by the way, just to set of it. So I

7:11

go to bed. I was like, hey, John, like, I'm

7:13

running out to the bed Beth and Beyond, Like

7:16

I'll be back in a little bit, and mind

7:18

you, let me just like set the scene. I'm

7:20

wearing pretty much like a

7:23

short nightgown. I mean it was like one of those little

7:25

flower dresses from Forever twenty

7:28

one, like really short, very

7:30

thin, like nothing much

7:32

to it. You know. I'm in my early twenties, So

7:35

going to bed Beth and Beyond and I'm walking through the halls

7:38

or the little aisles, and I can't find these

7:40

blinds, right, So I'm just like look and look and looking.

7:43

Well, then while I'm going through the aisles, I turn

7:45

a corner and there's this really I didn't see

7:48

it obviously, or I would have avoided it,

7:50

but there was a very sharp um

7:53

like something was sticking out in one of the aisles.

7:55

So when I turned the corner kind of fast,

7:57

I scraped and I even have a scar

8:00

are on my left arm.

8:02

I've got a scar right there where it started to

8:04

bleed and so I was

8:06

like, oh God, like that hurts. So I

8:09

go up to this guy who is helping someone else and I

8:11

was like, hey, I'm so sorry. I two

8:14

things I'm bleeding number one and number

8:16

two like I really need to find these shades. And they're

8:18

freaking out and the guys like I'm so sorry, Like do

8:21

you need you know, help or assistance. I was like, no,

8:23

I just need a band aid and I need to find these shades. Like

8:25

I'm totally fine. So he's

8:28

like, Okay, are you sure you sure you shure? I'm like yes, I'm

8:30

totally fine. So we go into his office. I get a band

8:32

aid to put it on, and I was like, these are the shades I'm

8:34

looking for. Well, as we go down

8:36

the aisles, I start looking down at my band

8:38

aid and I'm like, huh,

8:41

maybe, like I do need medical assistance

8:44

because it was bleeding through my band aid and

8:46

I was like, maybe I need stitches.

8:49

And then all of a sudden, I start to just feel

8:51

really really lightheaded,

8:54

and I was like, um, actually,

8:56

sir, yeah, like I need

8:58

um, I need some help. I

9:00

need um, I need some boom. I

9:03

pass out. Okay. So

9:05

I'm in the middle of bed Beth and beyond passed

9:08

out. Okay. They're one there on Ventura

9:10

in Studio City. In Studio City, like

9:13

Ventura and uh almost a cold

9:15

water. So I'm on the floor right,

9:18

I wake up and I

9:21

just start screaming. I've never passed out before like

9:23

this. I was like, oh my god, I

9:25

just passed up, Like I'm the middle

9:27

of I'm so sorry, and I was like call my boyfriend

9:31

so and they're like, man, man, man, just

9:33

calmed down. The fire. The fire people are coming,

9:35

like they'll be here any minute. Okay. So

9:37

in walking now we're in Los Angeles right,

9:39

So like the firemen there are like straight off

9:41

of a calendar like calendar

9:44

environment. Yeah, all want

9:46

to be actors and I'll probably volunteer fireman.

9:48

So they walk in and I'm like, hi, I

9:51

feel great, like you know, just

9:53

like they're like, okay, man, we're gonna lift you up and we're gonna

9:55

sit you in this chair. Well,

9:57

when they lifted me up, I

10:00

had myself when

10:02

I passed, and

10:08

I pointed to it and was like, I put

10:10

myself and

10:13

I just started screaming. And the look

10:15

on these firefighters spaces. What

10:19

I wouldn't give for one of those guys to like

10:21

hear this story and

10:23

and he remember it and he was one of the firemen

10:25

that was there. I would do anything to

10:28

track down one of those men to interview

10:30

them.

10:32

How fantastic is that story? Is fantastic?

10:36

So humiliating, So I put

10:38

myself when I passed passed out. I

10:40

mean they might some might call

10:42

it a near death experience because they say when you die,

10:44

you poop. So apparently

10:47

I died and came back to life. You

10:50

died in the embarrassment sids. I think it

10:53

was so embarrassing. Yeah,

10:56

no, no one can top that. And that's why

10:58

when she talked about once you fainted, uh

11:02

a week or two ago when you're doing you're getting

11:05

your lab tests. I mean I checked my butt to make sure

11:07

the first thing she did, and

11:09

I was like, my first question, I was like, did you poop? She's

11:12

like no, I checked myself. Like

11:15

That's exactly where our heads went immediately

11:18

because it was so do I have to bring

11:20

you a change your clothes? Yes? Or no? I

11:23

don't want to hear skid mark on your underwear.

11:28

But you're right, Mike, we need somebody a bed bath

11:30

and beyond, employee, a firefighter, somebody

11:32

who was there that day. You've got

11:34

to reach out to us. I could have you on the show. Oh

11:36

my god. No, it's like any time when we were

11:38

living there and we would go to that bed bath

11:40

and beyond because I was the closest one to our house. I would

11:42

like kind of look at the employees to be like, you recognize

11:45

her. I'm surprised. Do you ever went anywhere near that

11:47

place? Have you? Have you worked here

11:48

for? Um?

11:51

Okay, before we get the lady gang on, um

11:53

are amazing producer, Becky,

11:56

just please, just I need you to

11:59

share your story. Um.

12:01

So I've been dating my

12:03

boy home for like five months now, and

12:06

I'm like visiting him in Michigan and

12:10

I'm just like I told her, I

12:12

warned him. I was like, I am sorry, my stomach

12:14

heard so bad, like it's been a few days

12:16

already, and like I can't hold it anymore.

12:19

And he was like, it's okay. I was like, plug your ears.

12:21

It was so loud.

12:26

Why don't you go in the other room.

12:29

He lives in the studios. I had nowhere to run

12:32

or high,

12:36

so I said plug your ears and

12:38

he heard it still. He's like, that

12:40

was so loud that

12:45

But at the same time, how much closer do you guys

12:48

feel to one another that you got that out? And I'm

12:50

literally like, I'm never farting in front of

12:52

you till the day I die. I mean

12:55

true story, because you

12:57

can tell the first time a

13:00

hotel room. We're in a hotel room. So it's

13:02

kind of the same thing as you, Becky, right,

13:04

like what I'm gonna go walk in the halls and

13:07

Jane was doing something she's been ever anyway,

13:11

and I can't get her look. I was like, what

13:14

is that. She's

13:17

like, you didn't hear anything. And then final I was like you're funny.

13:19

She's like in the corner. I literally

13:22

went to a corner and went to a corner like hit her

13:24

face like a little kid, and was like, I

13:26

was so embarrassed. Usually

13:29

when he stays with me and like go to the

13:31

living room, I have what

13:35

is your boyfriend there with you right now? What

13:38

does he think? What is his name?

13:41

To Mario? He felt so, he

13:43

felt bad. He was like, I'm sorry for embarrassing

13:45

you.

13:49

Do you love her more?

13:51

Okay? Hi, how

13:53

are you guys? I'm

13:55

doing well. I'm like just laughing at

13:57

this story that she's telling you because it was so funny.

14:01

But he's sweet. I mean, I can

14:03

tell you it's a safe space, but I

14:05

don't feel like that's the thing. You

14:07

got the girls tomorrow back me up. The girls

14:09

make it a bigger deal than it is, right, But

14:12

then why call it out though? Because every time I

14:14

like do a little fun like he's like he

14:16

gives me a look because it's

14:19

it's like we've been married for going on six

14:21

years, been together for like almost seven and

14:23

you still do that and you kind of give me a look like you didn't hear

14:25

that. You didn't hear that. I'm like you're my

14:27

wife, Like I go into the bathroom after you after

14:30

you take a dump, and I'm like, dude, even girl, that's

14:35

light, Like we all do it well, Dude,

14:37

I completely agree with what you're saying.

14:40

We just want to at least acknowledge that

14:42

it was there for you. But it's not at all.

14:44

And guess what, we don't. We don't give y'all for

14:46

it because we're nice, and then

14:49

y'all will be like, why do you have to ft?

14:51

Well, because I know no time out. We're

14:53

a little bit more. I feel like we're more respectful

14:56

with it, like knowing that we're not just gonna fart

14:58

like you will. Like what's the thing called where

15:00

the sheets and stuff? Dutch

15:02

ovans? Yeah, like that's not cool, Like you know, I

15:04

made sure I know it's going to be a stinky one, like I

15:06

go to a different room. But like men

15:09

are just like let it hang. Yeah,

15:13

I mean that's exactly it's And it's such a great

15:15

relief when you're in a new relationship, especially you guys

15:17

are only five months and as soon as both you do it, it's

15:19

just like we're good now, Like

15:22

it's another level. So all right, Well, so everyone listening.

15:25

Just let it fly fly

15:27

to Mario Becky. Thank you guys, thanks

15:30

for sharing. Okay, Um,

15:33

16:24

Hi? Haven't seen you

16:27

ladies in years? For

16:30

years? Maybe hasn't been just

16:32

had your daughter so

16:34

five? Because you were talking about

16:36

getting mommy shamed, like at the grocery store

16:38

for something? Yeah, for buying food? Yes,

16:41

yes, how dare you? How dare

16:43

I buy? Can dare you feed your baby?

16:46

If I should be hand making that? Yes?

16:49

Congratulations on the book, best,

16:54

thank you, but seriously, congratulations

16:56

to y'all because, I mean, since I've

16:58

seen you guys, you guys have exploded.

17:00

I was. I love y'all show on e UM.

17:03

I mean, everything that you have going on.

17:06

I mean, it's it's insane. It's amazing

17:08

though, but you guys deserve it. You guys are

17:11

energetic, You're fun, You're you

17:13

share things that you know are

17:15

hard to share at times, and I

17:18

I appreciate that a lot because you're showing

17:20

the good and the bad and the the hard you

17:22

know right back at you.

17:24

You're doing the same. I mean,

17:27

you know how it is. You know, you know it

17:31

can be hard ups and the downs.

17:33

You know, that's right. We're just we're all just kind

17:35

of riding the wave, right, And I

17:37

mean, from what you guys are doing, it's amazing

17:39

that you guys, you know, with all your individual

17:41

careers and accodes that the three of you have done.

17:44

You know, how did you give us a backstory in our

17:46

listeners? Kind of a backstory of how the Lady Gang

17:49

formed? All right? I usually

17:51

take this one. I'll do it. Um. So,

17:53

Keltie and myself have previous

17:56

lives as professional dancers.

17:59

I was on broad Way. She was a rocket. Yeah,

18:02

she still got that, got

18:06

it. So this was stretch

18:08

al right, okay, okay,

18:10

so then this is exactly what you'll get when you listen

18:13

to the Lady Gang. Oh my god, apologies.

18:16

Uh So we knew each other a million lifetimes

18:18

ago and then we both kind of made our way

18:21

out to l A and would bump

18:23

into each other at these like weird Hollywood

18:25

events and look at each other and be like, remember

18:27

when we were broke and dancing

18:29

our hearts out for five dollars a week, and now

18:31

we're here and this is weird. Um.

18:34

So then we decided we were so

18:36

sick of waiting for Hollywood to pick

18:38

us. After every job, We're like, oh my gosh,

18:40

are they going to choose us? So finally

18:42

we had this lunch at Cafe

18:44

one oh one in l A which closed,

18:48

yes because the pandemic. It's

18:53

devastating and um. Anyways,

18:55

that was where we had this really sad lunch one

18:57

day that Kelty brought up the idea

19:00

of doing a podcast, and six years

19:02

ago a podcast. Was like

19:05

yeah, I was like what is

19:07

this? I was like,

19:10

you mean like Adam Carolla, what do

19:12

you mean? Like a Howard Stern, like

19:14

yes, actually exactly. So

19:17

I just followed her lead because Kelty

19:19

normally whatever she touches turns to gold,

19:21

and we knew we needed a third girl who

19:24

wasn't in the business and who didn't care about

19:26

the business and had a lot of street

19:28

cred as a female entrepreneur and

19:30

self made. And then that's when Kelty

19:33

asked Jack, and the reason they know

19:35

each other is because they share a mutual ex

19:38

boyfriend. I love is

19:42

that? Is that what they call it? An eskimo? Sister?

19:45

Yeah, like my brother asked my sister. Well

19:49

yeah, but then so Jack, Well,

19:52

I dated him after Jack, but then recently

19:54

we found out that Jack went back and made out

19:56

with him when she thought that we

19:58

were still together, which so messed

20:00

up. I thought that, like when I because

20:03

I have this whole thing, that I will never go

20:05

back to an X like I'm very proud about it.

20:07

That once you know, the doors closed, the doors

20:09

closed forever. And then I

20:12

finally remembered one day that I

20:14

did go back and hook up with this sex boyfriend,

20:16

and I was almost positive

20:19

that he cheated on Kelty with me, but

20:21

we went back and figured out that he didn't work. Oh

20:25

well, regardless look at you guys, now, look

20:27

at us live another day the

20:30

other day. So the bond is still there. And Kelty,

20:33

you just renewed your vows, right,

20:36

yes, did you guys renew yours? We

20:38

did, which I feel like we need to redo him again.

20:41

We're in a new trend of

20:43

marriage. We're just like you know, we just keep reading

20:47

everyone needs to renew after this

20:49

this pandemic. If you made it

20:51

out alive, then yeah, I agree with that. I

20:55

know that Ceil and Heidi Klum didn't make it

20:57

eventually. But remember how they used to have like

20:59

a huge, huge vow renewal every

21:01

single year, like because she loves to throw

21:04

parties, so she's like, basically, how can I wear a fabuos

21:06

dress? And I'm not like winning an Oscar, so like what is

21:08

this for me? And she would throw this vow renewal. Yeah,

21:10

Chris and I renewed our vows last year and it

21:13

was we had been together ten years, seven years married,

21:15

and we had like a couple of rough years

21:18

as they as they happen, and had

21:20

really not been focused on our relationship

21:22

at all, and um, it was really

21:24

sweet. I I being

21:26

an outward facing introvert, I

21:28

feel a lot of pressure to perform when I'm around people,

21:30

as you can tell already on this podcast. Um,

21:32

but in my real life, I'm actually like quite quiet.

21:35

And so the whole like wedding situation of like

21:37

saying your vows and having this moment in front of all these

21:39

people, I felt like I was like performing in the school play

21:41

for like my future in laws. So

21:43

it was nice to just we went on a beach and like just

21:45

it was just us and we just set our red or

21:48

to each other, and um, it was like

21:50

a great renewal. And I've only really

21:52

wanted to run and hate him like five times since.

21:54

So great down from. So

21:57

we're down from, you know. And

22:00

by the way, anyone that knows,

22:02

like it's so normal to you

22:04

know, be like this. I don't like you

22:07

a lot of days, and sometimes I don't

22:09

like myself, and it's it's okay to have

22:11

those, especially gosh the last and

22:13

everything. But in those years that you were

22:16

having tough times, was it for

22:18

you or you like I don't even want to be in this marriage

22:20

anymore? Yeah, for sure.

22:22

And I think that anyone that lies and says that

22:24

never happens to them is like a big fat liar

22:27

for me, Chris had my husband

22:29

had his his boss had

22:31

passed away really unexpectedly, and

22:34

he's very tied to his work. He's a very loyal person

22:36

and so he kind of lost himself for a whole year. He was

22:38

like just floating around. And I'm very attracted

22:40

to the like boss

22:43

like man that is like taking care

22:45

of and making important phone calls,

22:47

and like he didn't have that. He was just kind of like, I mean,

22:49

he's working, but he's floating around and he just didn't have

22:51

that driver passion. And that's one of the things

22:53

that I love about him. So I found him

22:55

like a little bit on sexy, to be honest with

22:57

you, And at that time in my career, I was like the

23:00

easiest I've ever been, And so it was

23:02

like this perfect storm of things. And sometimes

23:04

when you're I don't know how you feel about the Jenna, but like

23:06

when you're the woman in a relationship that's

23:09

acting like the man to like support

23:11

the man, sometimes that can be kind of draining

23:13

on like the sexiness of it all, you

23:15

know what I mean, When you're kind of in

23:17

the control seat keeping it all together, I'm

23:19

like, I don't want to keep it together. I want someone else to keep

23:22

it together for me. You know. Very

23:25

interesting. There is um

23:28

Curb Your Enthusiasm episode exactly about

23:30

this CULTI it's when Cheryl is only attracted

23:33

to Larry when he's working on Seinfeld. So

23:35

good. He's a big enthusiasm

23:38

kind of dude, are you? Oh my god? I watched

23:40

it. Every night when I go to sleep, I have to hear Larry

23:42

David screaming at me. It really like lulls me to

23:44

sleep, like a little lullaby. It's the

23:46

best. And I just I was late to the game

23:48

on season ten, so I just watched

23:51

season ten like two weeks ago. Oh

23:53

my god. It might be one of the best. And

23:55

they're they're filming a new one, so you're gonna get

23:57

me. It's so good. You

24:00

It's interesting that that Kelsey

24:02

was saying, it's because that's a lot of our relationship,

24:04

right, is like the role reversal in certain things and trying to

24:06

find that identity and stuff. And

24:10

I mean, I know for for the guy that

24:13

that takes them getting used to, you

24:16

know, kind of falling into a different role than maybe

24:18

society has for you, or that you even

24:20

want for yourself. Especially at least for me

24:22

personally, coming from the background that I have used

24:25

to be in the one making money or being busy,

24:27

and then now not do you find

24:29

that yeah

24:31

on sexually kelty,

24:34

damn you it's even

24:37

though you guys, I guess not make it about us. Here's the thing,

24:39

though, I will say, my dad always says you can't

24:41

have it all at the same time. So like we're in

24:43

the era of of you where

24:45

you're working on your career and you're the hottest thing and

24:48

you have so many avenues going on. You

24:50

can't also be having your career at this moment, Like

24:52

it's got to be you can't have it all. Yeah,

24:55

I think to answer your question, though, I don't.

24:58

I don't find you on sexy. What I've find unsexy

25:01

is when you know you'll

25:03

go play video games or you know

25:05

you don't you don't manage your time. So

25:07

I'm like, I'm working my asshole and

25:11

You're like, there's so many things that can be done

25:13

around the house around here, and I'm like, help me

25:15

pick up the slack. Like that's where I'm like, if

25:17

there's any you know, like

25:20

your laziness sometimes can make you unattractive.

25:22

Well, it's the lack of the drive at

25:24

the moment there you go like if you're

25:26

you know, if you're working on something or

25:28

you're passionate and like you're trying to make

25:30

steps forward to something. My

25:33

boyfriend loves video games too, but we

25:35

have this thing where he can only well know, he's playing

25:37

them right now. I was gonna say, you can only play

25:39

them after I go to bed. Well, and I'm

25:41

curious what I was going to ask you that, Jack, because

25:44

you know, for us, I'm like, we've

25:46

got to and he and I will say, Mike does a good

25:48

balance where it's you know, hey,

25:50

I'm going to take a few hours for myself. Now it's

25:53

when the kids are napping or

25:55

or we'll have you know, we kind of plan out our week.

25:57

It's like, Okay, this night, we're gonna have intention all night. This night

25:59

we're gonna play games. And then the next night

26:01

he gets his he gets his own time, he gets to do whatever

26:03

he wants, and if that's video games and that's how he spends

26:05

it. And I'm like, you know, working or or doing

26:07

something or you know, watching the bat But

26:09

again that's a bachelor,

26:12

I know. I'm like, but then I can't judge what he's

26:14

doing in his time, and that's been I think the hardest

26:16

thing for me is to not judge what he wants to

26:18

do in his time because what I what I

26:20

value in my time is so different. Yeah,

26:23

we actually had my boyfriend and I had this exact

26:25

same conversation about like the video games

26:27

thing, and it's like the amount of hours that I waste

26:30

watching trashy reality TV. It's like,

26:32

that's just how we decompress, you know, women

26:34

versus men. Men love playing Call of Duty

26:37

or whatever the hell they're playing, and then women love watching

26:40

ten hours have merried at first sight,

26:42

And that's that's kind of my thing. Where there's

26:44

this stigma around to make it about video games,

26:46

but there's a stigma where it just comes across a

26:48

childish right because you think that's a little kids thing, a

26:50

little boy like you're a man now you're in your thirties

26:53

or for whatever, grow up. But it's again,

26:55

if I was just sitting there, It's funny because if I was just sitting

26:57

there watching TV or watching a movie, Genna

26:59

would probably have no feelings about it. But if I'm

27:01

playing video games, you could

27:04

be doing this. You could be doing that, You could be doing whatever just

27:06

because it's that one thing. But it is

27:09

shocking how many men play video games,

27:11

Like pretty much every man loves

27:13

video games, so it's it's funny to look

27:15

at it in your own relationship, being like it's

27:17

like for ten year olds, and then you look at any other

27:20

guy and they're all playing

27:22

it together. Also, I

27:24

would much rather have my husband

27:26

be playing video games than like scrolling

27:28

Instagram men. I know men

27:31

who scroll Instagram more than women, And I

27:33

know this is like a weird double standard, but I

27:35

don't understand. Women

27:37

are picking out style inspiration,

27:40

home decor makeup, skincare.

27:42

We have a whole world to open up to us. But

27:44

what are men scrolling and looking at on Instagram

27:47

besides barstool sports? But and

27:50

women? That

27:53

is a very good point. That's a very good point, Like what

27:55

would you rather be doing any

27:59

time? Want not

28:02

out like at the bar trying to hit on

28:05

other girls? I mean, there are a lot worse

28:07

things to do than be them playing video

28:09

games. There's worse things, But as long as it's

28:11

just that, then it's good. All of it helped me bury's

28:13

body. If that happened, let

28:16

me turn it back to y'all in the second So right

28:18

now, and with the relationship and that being

28:20

said, right with the three of you having your own kind

28:22

of career paths and things that you do, and then having all these

28:24

projects with the show, with the podcast, with the

28:26

book that you know, act like a woman that I

28:28

want to dive into. How do you guys

28:30

kind of help manage each other's time, right, because

28:33

it's a three you collaborating on these things. So

28:35

is there any of that in y'all's relationship where

28:37

it's it's like hey Jack, why don't you do

28:39

this? Or Hey Kelty or hey backa like why aren't you working

28:41

on this? Like come on, we got to do that, Kelty

28:44

Kelty is the boss. And

28:46

every Monday I wake up to an email from

28:48

this lovely app we're using called a Sana

28:51

and it says Kelty has assigned four

28:54

tasks to you. Oh my god, I love this

28:56

app? What is it? Because now great things?

28:58

Becca, I'm gonna wake up every day more. Sorry,

29:00

Jenna has a sign to you? Well,

29:04

yeah, I mean I've been listening to a lot of

29:06

like grow your Business podcasts to be honest,

29:09

and um, doing like a lot of

29:11

listening to female panelists create

29:13

cultivated vanity fair and stuff, and so these

29:15

are some of the tips that I've found out. But yeah,

29:17

there's this app called a Sauna and basically we

29:19

have a couple employees for Lady Gang, and

29:22

and when something needs to be done and we talked about

29:24

something in meeting, we're like, let's add it to the asauna, so

29:26

that like Jack, instead of me calling Jack

29:28

every morning being like, hey, where's the graphics

29:31

for the new merch, it's just on her

29:33

thing And every morning I have it set up that it emails

29:35

them at eight am with like what is still outstanding?

29:38

And it has like never read those emails? Though? Is

29:40

the problem? Just doesn't read her

29:42

email? She's like, there's two kinds of people. There's me

29:44

who like has zero new emails

29:46

and her email, and there's Jack who's like thirty thousands.

29:48

Like getting Jack on email is also very difficult.

29:50

But you know, listen, it's been like it's

29:53

a marriage of sorts to be honest, Like it's

29:55

a trial and error. And I think the most important

29:57

thing with us is that we don't give up on each other and

30:00

are sort of brutally honest. In that

30:02

same way, that you have to be with your partner, and sometimes

30:04

it absolutely sucks. It sucks to hear

30:06

it sucks to have to be the person to like have the

30:08

conversation when that's needed. Um,

30:11

but it's always for the greater good. And I think

30:13

we all have We're all so determined

30:15

and we have such a special thing that we've created

30:17

that it's like, well, you know, are we

30:19

going to let this thing be the thing that ruins us?

30:21

It's like, after five years, you've invested all this time

30:24

and energy and you made it mostly work. Like

30:26

let's just keep going, you know. And we're really

30:28

good at communicating with each other. We always have been.

30:30

We've never had to have like a conversation

30:32

where it's like, okay, you know, we need to talk

30:35

about things, Like We've all just been very

30:37

open about everything, and we all have our specific

30:39

strengths, so we know when

30:41

to stay in our own lane, and we know when it's like

30:43

a Jack thing or Rebecca thing or a Keelty thing,

30:45

and we don't really step on each other's toes unless

30:48

Keelty is like trying to get me on a deadline

30:50

or something like that. But she also knows how I work,

30:52

Like I'm a creative I work in

30:54

my own time when I'm gonna do things,

30:56

and I will usually make

30:58

a deadline, but I'm gonna do it at the eleventh

31:00

hour, so super relaxing. It's super

31:03

relaxing for everyone. Was stressful

31:05

at all for everyone involved in the company.

31:07

When I'm like, Hey, what this is? Do we

31:09

have to get it to the manufacturer for the clothing

31:11

line. The whole thing has to be turned in by

31:14

Friday morning. Are we good on that? Yes? And

31:16

then on Thursday I'm like, hey, Jack, how's it going, And She's

31:18

like, oh, yeah, I'm just starting to work on that. I'm like, but

31:20

I always get it in. But Jack,

31:23

I love it because that's exactly how I am.

31:26

And look bottom of the ninth two outs, who

31:28

do you want to bet? You want me or Jack? Because we're gonna

31:30

get that done. We're going to deliver. Because when we

31:32

wrote our book, Jane was the same way. She had like a

31:34

six month calendar. Okay, this day you read

31:36

this, on this day, you can write this. You're gonna write this. I

31:39

was like, huh, you know, I tried doing it

31:41

was exactly. I was like, we're creating. I was like the

31:44

last two months. Mike, are you a Pisces?

31:46

I am. Yes. That is the

31:49

number one thing about Pisces,

31:51

especially men, because it's a water

31:54

sign. They are floating in outer space.

31:56

Good luck ever, ever, ever getting

31:59

him to meet a deadline? That was just really

32:02

yes, because I don't know much. I haven't looked much into

32:04

pisces. But that's okay. That what

32:06

is your sign? I'm a sage, Okay,

32:09

that's yeah. It's like it's a tough combo,

32:11

but you have to you have to

32:13

embrace that is yellow screwed.

32:17

You're not screwed. As I had an

32:19

old business partner who he was a Pisces,

32:22

and he was so creative. He was probably

32:24

the most talented person I've ever worked with. However,

32:27

he could not need a deadline, and I just as

32:29

soon as I embraced that and just knew that that

32:31

was who he was, I was okay.

32:34

It was just expectations

32:36

and managing them. Yeah,

32:38

good luck. Well,

32:41

I'm sure it's hard to raise children with

32:43

someone who's floating in outer spicy space.

32:45

Well yeah, and that's yeah, that is very

32:47

hard because sometime tail just disappear and I'm like, where

32:49

did you go? Like I live on another

32:52

planet or different reality.

32:54

They're living in a different reality. Okay, it makes

32:56

so much sense. That's why my therapists always

32:58

called it Mike's world, Like, Hey, you're in Mike's

33:01

bolove again, okay, um

33:03

Becca, thank you for sharing the miscarriage,

33:06

um miscarriages. UM. I know it's

33:08

hard. We've had five. Um

33:11

we understand it's you know, we've

33:13

done IVF as well. And I just want to say thank you

33:15

for sharing your story because the more

33:17

people talk about it, the less

33:19

it hurts. And it's still

33:21

gonna hurt, right, It's it's awful, it's terrible.

33:24

Um. But just to know that you're not alone, that

33:26

I'm not alone, that other people aren't alone. Um

33:28

so, and I'm just I'm sorry that you're going

33:31

through that right now. Thank you. Where

33:33

are you right now? The IBF process, so

33:36

we froze embryos in the

33:38

spring, and um

33:41

then I got this job to shoot

33:43

in Vancouver for six months. So

33:46

we kind of felt like it was the

33:48

perfect sign from the universe to just take

33:51

arrest, take a beat because there's nothing we can be

33:53

doing here. You know, our embryos are in l A.

33:56

Are you in Vancouver? Yeah? So wh are

33:58

we you are? Yes? Wait,

34:02

yes, it's here too. He's going

34:04

to be very excited. But they can play games

34:06

together. Great, he's

34:09

brought his system here to Vancouver. Do

34:11

you golf? Oh my

34:13

god, we'll connect.

34:15

How long are you here? We're here for six weeks

34:17

Ti March. Oh my

34:20

gosh. Um, which part

34:22

of Vancouver are you in? Like yell

34:24

Town Downtown? Where

34:26

are you guys? It's

34:30

cute. There's where my micro blading

34:32

girl is. If you need a dope micro

34:34

bladed eyebrows. Okay,

34:37

okay, that's all good. Have you seen me? I beautiful?

34:41

I actually just got my done be lore. I would take you up on

34:43

that, but no, okay, let's

34:46

get numbers after this. But okay,

34:48

so you're going to hold off on that. Have

34:51

you this is

34:53

your first round of IVF or yes?

34:55

So we did. Yeah, we did one round

34:58

of retrieval and then

35:00

we got all of our embryos

35:02

that are frozen. I just paid for storage yesterday,

35:05

Thank you technology

35:08

child. Isn't it crazy? It's

35:12

yeah? So I did that one round and then

35:14

we, like I said, it was sort of

35:17

um, I think meant to be where

35:19

our embryos are down in San Diego. And

35:22

we're in Canada. The border's clothes. There's no going

35:24

back and forth, and there was no there

35:27

was no doing a transfer before

35:29

coming here because I would have been showing

35:31

too much for this job that I'm doing,

35:33

because it's like a longer, it's a series,

35:37

but it's thank you. But it's so

35:40

crazy that you think

35:42

you're just going to spontaneously just

35:45

get pregnant and have a baby, and then

35:47

you're like, oh wait, I'm literally scheduling

35:49

it like it's a dentist appointment. Now. It's

35:52

just so nuts. It's I'm

35:55

so happy that that is what's available

35:57

to us. And I think that the reason

35:59

I came out with and I was so open

36:01

about the experience was because I

36:04

I am quite angry with the medical

36:07

institution in general and how

36:09

there's no conversations very

36:11

rarely with women in their late

36:13

twenties and early thirties to

36:16

consider taking a simple

36:18

blood test to see what their hormones

36:20

are looking like and what their egg supply looks

36:22

like. So I was kind of

36:24

piste off that we've all been going to see

36:27

an O, B, G, I N since we've gotten our periods

36:29

and there's very rarely intervention

36:32

when it comes to fertility. So

36:34

since then, I'm happy to report that so many

36:37

women have reached out and have either frozen their

36:39

eggs or frozen embryos, or even just taken

36:41

a simple blood test that they've had

36:43

to ask for at their guy no. So um,

36:46

it's become like this weird mission that I never

36:48

thought I would have, But it feels

36:50

like the most gratifying thing we've done like

36:52

thus far in the Lady Gang. Yeah,

36:55

it's such a great point because it's like, until you

36:57

are actually trying to have a child,

36:59

you don't realize how hard it is, right because it's a miracle

37:01

that happens hundreds of times every

37:03

single day, But until you really want

37:05

it and realize how difficult it can be

37:07

for a lot of people who truly want a kid, it's it's

37:10

unbelievably you know, difficult at times.

37:12

And on the iv F journey, I'm

37:15

curious Becca if you

37:17

guys aren't there yet. But when you you know,

37:19

basically create the embryos, you

37:21

have your eggs frozen when you create the embryos,

37:24

the one part of that process that just me personally,

37:26

in my own kind of belief system,

37:29

I had a hard time with was when they would say,

37:31

Okay, we can either basically

37:33

take a singular sperm and inject it into

37:35

the embryo, into the egg, or you

37:37

kind of take a you

37:40

know, millions of sperm and throw them in like a

37:42

basically a peatree dish and let them let

37:45

nature take its course. And

37:47

I know for some people you have to inject

37:50

the sperm directly into the egg to make it work.

37:53

But for me, just when we were going

37:55

through it, I had a hard time because

37:57

that's the only part of it that felt like

37:59

you were playing God, right, because

38:01

I'm like, let the best spurn win, Like whatever sperm

38:04

is supposed to win, that God is intending for you

38:06

to have that child. Let that happen.

38:09

Again, not everyone is able to have that. Sometimes

38:11

you have to inject it. But that's just the

38:13

one thing I know for me apportionally that came up that had

38:15

a hard time with. Yeah, it's

38:17

I get that, because the whole thing is just so

38:20

it is pretty crazy. I mean, the reason I had

38:22

to do it in general was because my egg quality

38:25

so um that and as

38:27

you get older, that's just the reality of it. So

38:29

that kind of feels that felt crazy too,

38:31

because you're selecting the best eggs and

38:33

then you can actually find out the sex

38:36

and then choose that. I mean, we we said

38:38

because it did feel too much like playing god. We

38:41

were like, we are only going

38:43

to do up to the point in which we get a successful,

38:45

healthy embryo made, but we're not going to select

38:48

the gender. We're simply going to say whatever looks

38:50

the strongest or healthiest. But it is really

38:53

insane, it's so crazy, the whole

38:55

process. Well, I'm excited for you though, because

38:57

I know it's it's it's it's

39:00

it's tough, but it sounds like you have an awesome

39:02

husband that is very supportive. And

39:05

it was just with those shots, Oh yeah, I made

39:07

Mike doom. I was like, I'm not, Yeah, she made

39:09

She made me take a shot in my ass without

39:12

anything in it, a progester and she's just like, no,

39:14

if you're gonna do it to me, I'm gonna do it to you. Rember. You

39:16

gotta know what except for you can't. That's

39:19

what I didn't realize. Even though the needles were bigger,

39:21

the butt shots were way better than the stomach.

39:24

Oh really, I couldn't even sit with the progester

39:26

own shots. It was like a big ball.

39:28

I hate the progester own shots. Anyways,

39:31

you guys, I okay, I just I mean,

39:33

you have a million things going on, so can we just tell

39:35

everyone where we can get everything? And

39:38

the book and the book and the clothes and

39:40

the podcast tell me all

39:43

um. So we're at the Lady Gag on

39:45

Instagram. That's the easiest. The podcast comes out every

39:47

Tuesday and Thursday wherever you get your podcast, and

39:49

the book is available anywhere

39:51

you get books. Target dot com, Amazon dot

39:53

com. You're a local indie bookseller, um,

39:56

act like a lady. It's our New York Times bestseller.

39:58

So we we came

40:01

out like four weeks before ours, and

40:03

I was like, there's hope if they can do it. Maybe

40:07

yes, I mean, you're

40:09

amazing and incredible, but you're not Michelle Obama.

40:11

And I was like, okay, there's like, you know, there's space

40:14

for just these fandoms. You're

40:16

a part of so many different fandoms, so it's amazing

40:19

for you know. I hear you on that because I was like, there's I

40:21

was like Mike because he was like, that's my goal, and I was like,

40:23

honey, shot, I

40:25

was shooting for the start like,

40:30

you know, but I'm so happy for you guys. I

40:32

love you guys. Um like

40:35

a few days great, I can't

40:37

wait. Thanks guys so much. I appreciate you

40:39

ladies, Thank you so much. I

40:42

just love those girls so much, you

40:44

know, going into it, I even asked you, I was

40:46

like, have we not interviewed them yet? Because I just hear

40:48

so much about him and I mean they were

40:50

like the first podcast people ever. I feel

40:53

like, yeah, they were. They're definitely some of the O

40:55

G s. But I just I have seen

40:57

so much of them, heard so much of them.

40:59

It was great to put you know, voices

41:02

and faces and personalities altogether.

41:05

But what a great group of women and you

41:08

know, just awesome, awesome

41:10

people. No,

41:24

she's got a wiggly tooth. Oh

41:28

do you mean? No? This is good? It's gonna cry.

41:31

It's her first? Is your first tooth? Oh? Are

41:33

you gonna keep it? Sorry?

41:37

Genuinely makes me sad. It's her

41:39

first. I

41:43

don't know why I'm crying too. Our

41:48

daughter is a wiggly tooth and I'm crying how

41:51

exciting? How wiggly is that? I'm

41:54

not pulling it out because like

41:57

it gives me PTSD from my childhood. My

41:59

dad he joke put a string

42:01

around my tooth and opened the door. Let

42:04

you close the door, close the door. How

42:07

are we going to do it? Oh my god,

42:10

I'm gonna get a string the

42:14

other side. I'll tie to a football the

42:16

football. What

42:21

did you do? Mark? We let

42:23

it take its course. It just came out. We didn't

42:25

do I did the fancy door knob football

42:28

techniques. How much does the tooth

42:30

Fairy cost? I think inflation?

42:32

Man. Kids nowadays are asking for some

42:35

for dollars for the tooth

42:37

fairy, this tooth fairy and given

42:39

dollars. Well, I don't think Jolie

42:41

really knows the dollars anyways. Well,

42:44

give her a hershey kiss.

42:47

No, we'll get her something like a little unicorn toy

42:49

or something. No, you can't do a little toy.

42:51

It's got to be consistent. So we'll do like a quarter

42:54

a quarter? Yeah,

42:57

what do you mean the way the tooth fairy has to do something consistent.

43:00

It can't be like every time you get this, there's

43:02

an xbox under my pro Well, what

43:06

did you do? Mark? We did five dollars

43:08

and Reese's peanut butter cup, which

43:11

is kind of silly. Because I just encourages more tooth

43:13

loss. But it was consistent

43:16

and it was competitive because you've got to keep

43:18

that in mind too, because if their friends are making more

43:20

money than she has per tooth she's that's

43:22

gonna bother her and make her question the tooth fairies

43:24

motivations. Well, they can write a letter to the tooth

43:26

fairy after for a raise. A

43:29

tooth fairy, I'm really using a lot of teeth and making you

43:31

work, so I need a raise in my

43:34

reward. You know what, guys,

43:37

I gotta I am a little emotional, so I

43:39

think I gotta end up. I think I need to go give myself

43:41

a good cry that I got a five year old he and

43:44

by the way, I'm turning Canadian up here. Hey,

43:47

between your Michigan and the Canadian

43:49

influence, you're really getting it all right, y'all

43:51

our beauty have a good one later
