Michael Green joins me to discuss what it has been like for him living in the St. Louis area after moving here from Dublin, Ohio.

We also dive into discuss how the popular People Behind the Science podcast, which he produces and is hosted by Dr. Marie McNeely of Washington University, came to be created. Also discussed was his company Unfold Productions which produces that show and a number of others including People Behind the Innovation hosted by my guest from Episode 3, Travis Sheridan

Michael also shares what he thinks of the current state of podcasting and what he would like to see as podcasting continues to grow as a medium.

As always we dive into the guest faves segment and learn more about some of Michaels favorite things about St. Louis.

Make sure to check out the People Behind the Science podcast if you are at all into science and connect with him online.

Guest Faves of St. Louis
  • Favorite thing about St. Louis - The people in the area are great conversationalists with interesting stories and enjoy the numerous cultural events around the area along with the different personalities of the various neighborhoods
  • What would you like to see St. Louis change? - For people to have a stronger sense of pride about the city
  • Specifically for the out of town listener - There are really so many things to do here in the St. Louis area so treat it like any other major US city. It is really an affordable place to visit

St. Louis fun fact

Did you know that St. Louis native Mickey Carroll played multiple roles as a Munchkin in the classic film The Wizard of Oz?

Born on July 8, 1919, Mickey had a twin sister and after a brief time in Hollywood, Mickey returned to St. Louis to work at, and eventually own, the family monument business which was named "Standard Monument Company".

As for his roles in The Wizard of Oz, Mickey played the Munchkinland "Town Crier", a Munchkin soldier and a fidler.

Mickey Carroll passed away on May 7, 2009 in Chesterfield Mo.
