Topic 1: Why Did The Movie Do So Badly?

Well, there are several reasons for this, one being that it was highly likely doomed from the start, what I mean by this is Disney invested so much money into this film that it was highly unlikely that the film would've brought back enough money for it to be a huge success even if the film did blow up in popularity. Another contributing factor to it's failure is that Disney completely mishandled the release of this film completely and put an absurd amount of money onto this film simply because of the fact that they assumed that this movie would be a massive success. they thought this so much so, even before the movie had come out a sequel was already in production. This defies the saying "Don't put all your eggs in one basket" incredibly.

Topic 2: The Production Behind The Film

This movie was only made so that Disney would have an excuse to pursue more action type films rather than traditional fairy tale movies as well as make an aspiring original idea, The film that came several months before treasure planet (the emperor's new groove) was as a flop as well only making back 69 million dollars in the box office, in order to combat this loss Disney needed an original aspiring idea, a big success could only combat the flop that was the emperor's new groove, this "aspiring" idea that was highly anticipated was treasure planet which ended up worsening Disney's loss on the emperor's new groove. Disney's confidence in this was it's inevitable downfall, as it's advertising was potentially even worse than it's anticipation, always advertising this film as "All the action you'd ever want" an "entertaining fun story" Disney shoved this film into everyone's face which is likely also why this film was also disliked.

Topic 3: The Story Of The Film

Treasure Planet followed the formula used for every flop within the past few years such as "Atlantis: The Fallen Empire '' this film was advertised, produced and had the purpose of Treasure Planet's as well. I might argue that Treasure Planet is just Atlantis: The Fallen Empire but with an enormous budget and a bland less polished premise. Disney also used this film as a sort of Guinea pig for 3D shots/animation, this was because animated films rarely ever used 3D animation and Disney possibly tried to take advantage of this type of animation and try to popularize this film with 3D animation, in the end, 3D animation contributed to one of the many faults of this film.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the many faults of this film lead to it’s downfall, with much anticipation and over exaggeration in this film, it ended up being one of Disney’s biggest losses financially.
