On the 15th of March, 44 BCE, the famed Roman general Julius Caesar was at the height of his power. He entered into a meeting of the senate at the Curia of Pompey in Rome. Unaware to the web of conspiracy closing in around him, he strode confidently into the chamber with his crimson robes flowing behind him, having no idea this day would be his last…

What led to this event? How could a general turned dictator have miscalculated the danger he was in so dramatically? And why did the senators of Rome take such a risk to have him removed?
