Matt Douglas, also known as D53, and Døgie (pronounced “doug-ee”), is from originally from California (Cupertino), and makes retrofuturistic electronic music. It ranges from house and  dance-pop to even the Rhythm and Hip Hop side of things. It takes some form from old M/A/R/R/S tracks, and mashes it with Jeff Beck or Khruangbin. "I have a tough time defining what I make in those terms, but I’m mostly just trying to have a lot of fun making it and doing cool weird stuff." -Matt

Matt used to play in a band called Clusterfunk in Austin from 2016 till earlier this year. Clusterfunk has played at many of the venues in Austin, including empire control room, one-2-one bar, the Mohawk and the Parish, and has opened for or played with a number of great bands such as Big Wy’s Brass Band, TC Superstar, and Lakandon with General Smiley.

"We also played at the college Co-Op’s a lot, and I still hold those people and those places deep in my heart." -Also Matt

Part 2 of 2, Matt starts off by telling us about Clusterfunk. We talk about how artists, bands, genres and sounds evolve. We mention culture, traditionalists, the California scene, festivals, Co-op's and more!

“Modern Jazz, Indie-Pop Psychedelia, and Funk-Rock inspirations come together to form the sound of Austin based independent outfit Clusterfunk.”

Hope you enjoy!
