1:05

Hey, we're starting. Welcome, welcome, welcome

1:08

one and all. Today's a Wednesday

1:10

morning. We are the Preston

1:12

and Steve Show. And now, Preston

1:15

and Steve's news updates with Kathy

1:17

Romano. And today is Wednesday. It's

1:19

March 13th. Good morning, Kathy. Good

1:21

morning in the news this morning. A third

1:23

suspect has been arrested in connection with last

1:26

week's September bus stop shooting. That injured

1:28

eight students in Philadelphia's Burlholm section.

1:31

According to supervisor deputy US Marshal

1:33

Rob Clark, 19-year-old Jermaud

1:35

Carter was arrested around 3.30 yesterday

1:38

afternoon at a family's home in the 12,000

1:40

block of Academy Road. Carter was arrested without

1:42

incident after Marshall surrounded a home on the

1:45

block. On Monday, authorities announced the

1:47

arrests of two other shooting suspects.

1:49

18-year-old Jermaud Tucker and 18-year-old Onhile

1:51

Bugs. Both suspects

1:53

were charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapons

1:56

offenses, and other charges and are being held on

1:58

more than $2 million bail. A

2:00

fourth suspect identified as a 17-year-old

2:02

male is being sought and Clark

2:04

urged family members to help bring

2:06

the wanted individual into custody. Clark

2:09

said, we made contact with family members and

2:11

we gave them the ultimatum. Turn your son

2:13

in by tomorrow morning. If he does not

2:15

turn himself in, we will be releasing his

2:17

identity to the city of Philadelphia and most

2:19

likely offering an award from the U.S. Marshal

2:21

Service. Police say the gunfire rang

2:23

out at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on March

2:25

6 as several Northeast High School students were waiting

2:28

for the bus at Cotman and Rising Sun Avenues.

2:30

The injured students range in ages from 15 to 17.

2:34

One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy remains in

2:36

critical condition after being shot nine times. Police

2:39

say that he was the intended target.

2:41

According to court records, bugs contacted an

2:43

inmate at SCI Pine Grove a day

2:45

after the mass shooting to talk about

2:47

another teen who had been shot to

2:50

death two days earlier. Police

2:52

have said all along that they're still working

2:54

to see if the bus stop shooting is

2:56

connected to the killing of 17-year-old Damian Taylor

2:58

who was shot and killed while waiting for

3:00

a septibus in the O'Gons. Anyone with information

3:03

is asked to call police at 215-686-TIP.

3:05

They're saying so much of this

3:07

stuff is intertwined with social media.

3:09

That's where someone is. Fights

3:13

that start on social media that

3:15

sadly end up being hashed out

3:17

with gunfire. It's horrendous. They're like

3:19

15, 16. 15, 16, 18 times. I

3:22

was trying to get my learners permitted. Seriously,

3:24

the kid they're looking for now is 17 years old and the other two being

3:26

charged with

3:29

attempted murder and if this 16-year-old passes

3:31

away, it'll be murder. Yeah.

3:34

Terrible. A South Jersey man

3:36

is facing charges after police say he entered

3:38

a high school classroom and threatened two students

3:40

earlier this week. Police say

3:42

38-year-old Aaron Thomas went into a

3:45

Paulsboro High School classroom Monday and

3:47

confronted students who were reportedly

3:49

in a dispute with his daughter in a

3:51

video posted to Instagram which police are using

3:53

as part of their investigation. Thomas appears to

3:56

walk up to a student and demand he

3:58

apologize to his daughter. to

4:00

my daughter, Thomas said repeatedly throughout the nearly

4:02

three minute video, about a minute into the

4:04

video, an adult intervenes and tries to get

4:07

Thomas to leave, but the situation appears to

4:09

escalate. Thomas is then seen making physical contact

4:11

with another student and begins yelling. An

4:14

affidavit says Thomas came to the school to sign

4:16

his daughter out who was having problems with another

4:18

student over photos being shared. Instead

4:20

of leaving with his daughter, Thomas tracked down

4:22

the other student. I just,

4:24

it's wild. Obviously

4:28

this is behavior that you can't approve

4:30

of, but I also understand what it's

4:32

like to be a parent and try

4:34

to put myself in the frame of mind of what it

4:37

would be like if there was some kind of act of

4:39

bullying or something like that that was happening. I don't know

4:41

how well I'd be able to keep my composure. I might

4:43

walk into this classroom like this guy did. We

4:46

don't know the actual scenario. It

4:48

sounds like it might be compromising photos or something

4:50

or whatever the story is, but yeah. Oh

4:53

yeah. It's crazy on every level.

4:55

There are aspects to each part of it

4:57

you can understand. I mean, yeah, yes. There

5:00

is. And I don't know

5:03

what happened, but I'm just thinking if this girl was

5:05

being teased or bullied or whatever the photos were like,

5:07

I might walk into that there.

5:11

Later in the day on Monday, Thomas was

5:13

arrested and charged with simple assault, terrorist threats,

5:15

trespassing and disorderly conduct. That's the problem is

5:18

like he's defending his daughter and now he's

5:20

arrested and he's looked at as the

5:22

bad guy. He would think security would have

5:24

sort of stopped him before he got in.

5:27

Yeah, Steve, they're actually the Palsborough School District

5:29

superintendent put out a letter saying that the

5:32

district is working with police and they say

5:34

that it actually took the school three

5:36

hours to call police. There's a resource officer that

5:38

works in the school, but he was working on

5:40

Monday. Three hours. Okay.

5:42

They try to get that response time down to two

5:44

and a half hours. Right?

5:48

It wasn't the police responding. It was, I guess

5:50

it took the school about three hours to call.

5:52

I guess they probably, yeah. The design for me.

5:54

Okay. If

6:03

you watch the Super Bowl, you know the name Temu.

6:06

The company advertised heavily during the big game. What you

6:08

may not know is consumers have filed more than 900

6:11

complaints against it and the Better Business Bureau

6:13

is just in the just sorry with the

6:15

Better Business Bureau in just the past 14

6:17

months since the company launched. Is it that

6:19

shopping app? Yeah, the shopping app. We talked

6:21

briefly about it. Yeah. According

6:24

to research from Baby Center, more than one

6:26

in three parents have bought

6:28

or received items from Temu, which is

6:30

owned by a Chinese company. Baby Center

6:32

says it's the reviews of the website

6:34

have found products that have been recalled,

6:36

could be counterfeit, or circumvent US safety

6:38

standards and features that are important to

6:40

preventing issues like choking. Hey, you got to

6:43

do something with that recalled, you know, merchandise.

6:45

What are you going to do with it? You're

6:47

going to go to waste? Have you ever done

6:50

that? You don't waste things just because of these

6:52

Asian little baby gets killed. Oh my God. I

6:54

mean, this is not surprising to me. When

6:56

this popped up, I knew exactly what this

6:58

was. There's a clothing company like this. Sometimes

7:01

you get good stuff and majority of the

7:03

time you're not. Is it basically like an

7:06

overstock situation or just crappy merchandise? Crappy

7:08

merchandise. For parents who don't like their

7:10

children? No, listen, it's

7:12

not just baby stuff. This was just Baby

7:15

Center was part of it. Was

7:17

part of the research done to this.

7:19

No, yeah, it's crappy items made overseas.

7:23

You know what? Stop and think about it. Amazon

7:26

success is predicated. All

7:28

their merchandise, they just started going overseas

7:31

and buying cheap stuff that they could

7:33

throw up on the website. Now you

7:35

can get anything that you want. But

7:37

initially, when they imported from just being

7:39

booked merchandise, that's how they started. Really?

7:43

It used to be the ongoing jokes.

7:45

It's something you bought from Amazon was

7:47

going to be cheap, something cheap overseas.

7:49

Also, wish.com is like a running joke

7:52

and is pretty much just like a

7:54

wish.com. You're going to look at an item and it's

7:56

going to look like a 10 foot

7:58

painting and you're going to get it. an index

8:00

card. But people are still

8:02

buying off of it. It is a lot

8:04

of like knockoffs. I wouldn't say counterfeit, but

8:07

it is a lot of knockoffs. So there's

8:09

stuff out there that costs hundreds of dollars

8:11

and you look here and it's $20. Yeah,

8:13

and so you're enticed to go for it. But

8:15

I know people who are like, well, for $20,

8:17

I'll try it. If it doesn't work out, I

8:20

will $20. Look at me, I

8:22

was just stung a couple of times this

8:24

holiday season. My enterprise that was supposed to

8:26

be an exact replica of Stranger World Enterprises

8:28

was not even a suitable bottle, and

8:30

then my six foot tall lantern

8:33

for the holidays turned out to be

8:35

like a desk ornament. No,

8:37

but again, on that level, Kathy, I didn't

8:39

go into it thinking, okay, this is, I

8:41

don't know, I'm going to blow the rent

8:43

money on this, but I really want, it

8:45

was just like, if I get burned, I

8:47

get burned. Maybe that's what this is. I

8:50

mean, that's similar. And a lot of times

8:52

sites like this, what they'll use is a

8:54

photo of the actual product, and then you're

8:56

getting a knockoff of it. So Temu said,

8:58

send a statement to 6AVC that Red and

9:00

Park Child Safety is our absolute priority. We

9:03

have a multi-layered safety

9:07

system in place that includes rigorous,

9:09

merchant vetting, pre-listing product

9:11

reviews with safety documentation

9:13

checks and random spot checks

9:15

in our warehouses. We hold our sellers

9:17

accountable, taking strict action against those who

9:19

violate our platform rules and safety regulations.

9:21

Maybe that's their own, Kathy, if they

9:24

said they were merchant vetting. We

9:27

never said merchant. We never

9:30

said merchant. Complaints that the

9:32

Better Business Bureau include poor quality and

9:34

shipping delays as well as misuse of

9:36

customer information, which worries security experts. Two

9:38

class action lawsuits related to privacy have

9:41

been filed against Temu, claiming

9:43

that they gain access to literally

9:45

everything on your phone and the

9:47

app is loaded with tools to

9:49

execute virulent and dangerous malware and spyware

9:51

activities. Temu categorically denies the allegations and

9:53

causes of lawsuit meritless. The Better Business

9:55

Bureau says it is now working closely

9:58

with Temu to address the issue. Hi! unt!

10:12

10:24

10:28

10:34

10:37

10:39

10:42

10:44

10:46

10:48

10:50

11:12

11:23

11:25

11:29

a return to Philadelphia for the 26-year-olds who spent one

11:31

season with the Eagles in 2022 He

11:34

filed for the NFL lead in interceptions

11:36

with six stat seasons despite missing five

11:38

games with a lacerated kidney He was

11:40

the only Eagles player since 1970 to

11:43

record interceptions in five consecutive games and

11:46

that's what I have for you this morning

11:48

Alright, thank you very much, Kath. Welcome to

11:50

12:10

12:13

12:23

12:30

We also are going to go

12:32

live on Fox Good Day this morning as we get close

12:34

to 8 a.m. and as

12:37

a special guest guest this morning

12:39

via zoom after Judge Reinhold

12:41

will be joining us and he is

12:43

on to talk about an evening with

12:45

Judge Reinhold and a screening of Fast

12:48

Times at Richmond High, which is this

12:50

Saturday at the Kaczewiks Theater. 42

12:53

years ago, Fast Times at Richmond High

12:55

came out. Groundbreaking movie, man. And I

12:57

think it still holds up. It

13:00

captured a lot of that angst of being

13:02

a teenager. He's

13:04

great in it. He's

13:06

also in Beverly Hills Top. He's in all those

13:09

movies and he's going to be in this upcoming

13:11

suite. Which

13:13

judging from the trailer looks really, really

13:15

good. I hope it is. Yes,

13:18

absolutely. I love the first one. The second one

13:20

was okay. Maybe

13:23

what has happened is that people who are fans

13:25

of the original source material now get into positions

13:28

where they can direct and write. I

13:31

think we see a lot of solid reboots. He's

13:33

been in a lot of great stuff so it's going to

13:35

be cool to talk to him. We'll do that around 9

13:38

o'clock this morning, Judge Reinhold. We got a bunch to get

13:40

to. Let's go ahead and take a break right now. Coming

13:42

back with a stupid question. A lot of entertainment

13:45

14:50

nice guy. Because other jewelers just want to throw

14:52

up when you ask, can I trade in my

14:54

old diamond studs? Why? I guess it's because they're

14:56

in the business of selling. I'm in the love

14:58

business. I love to see my friends

15:01

come back and trade in their old diamond studs. It's true. You

15:47

back with more of the Preston and Steve

15:49

Show Podcast. Stupid question. We got tickets to

15:52

see the wings, the four pack of them.

15:54

The game is Saturday, March 23rd. It's the

15:56

spring break night event that's taking place. And,

15:58

uh, bear with me. with us where

16:00

we might have some technical issues with the phone

16:03

so we're going to try and work this stuff

16:05

out but nonetheless we'll get them winter no matter

16:07

what. Here's the question how many states are

16:10

in Australia? How many states

16:12

are in Australia? That's correct.

16:14

Never heard that question. 215-263-WMMR.

16:17

Call if you know the answer. How

16:19

many states are then are there in

16:21

Australia? We have some interesting birthdays today.

16:23

We'll start with William H. Macy turning

16:25

a year older today. He's coming to

16:27

town is he not for the first

16:30

time in the world? He's in Fargo. We're trying to

16:32

get him on the show. Yeah Steve you're right

16:35

it's the exact same thing and there's a screening

16:37

of Fargo. By the way I've been watching the

16:40

series Fargo based on Casey's recommendation and it's really

16:42

really good. It's loosely based on the movie. Which

16:44

season are you up to? Four which is Chris

16:47

Rock and they

16:49

sort of set in the 1950s but William

16:51

H. Macy in Fargo. The original Fargo is

16:53

just incredible. Yeah he's been in so many

16:55

good movies. I'm just looking at a list

16:57

of them here. The Seabiscuit, Magnolia, obviously Fargo.

17:00

Jurassic Park 3 Preston. I said like 15

17:04

minutes and I'm like I think I'm done with this

17:06

sort of thing. Preston did you see the cooler we

17:09

were talking about? I did. It's really good. It is

17:11

a good movie. It's brutal. Yeah what happens to him

17:13

is brutal. Wait sorry I have to go back to

17:15

Fargo for a second. That was a movie that I

17:17

hated. I did not get it. I don't understand why

17:20

people thought it was such a good movie but

17:22

I feel like I need to go back and try it

17:24

again. Okay. I think you've watched things

17:26

that would be in line with Fargo

17:28

that you said you liked. If you

17:30

were to revisit it you might enjoy

17:32

it. He's 74 today.

17:34

Dana Delaney, China Beach,

17:37

Desperate Housewives as well. Two Zone.

17:40

Is she in Two Zone? Yeah she's a lot of

17:42

interest to Kurt Russell. That's right she is

17:44

68 years old today. She's great in that

17:46

movie. Danny Masterson,

17:48

I mentioned that. He's in prison.

17:50

He's full on in prison. He

17:52

just got shifted. What 16 Years?

17:56

Like A 18 year old. Like Yeah,

17:58

a really heavy sense of it. my

18:01

will. He'd say that ah well on

18:03

when I know, depending on mean over

18:05

behavior and not Mercer, it's yeah. Vi:

18:07

a sexual assault which is obviously horrific,

18:09

but I'd they they tend to be

18:11

more accommodating. Yeah, so he's forty eight

18:13

today. It's odd. Shara, we're talking about

18:15

her numbers or whatever reason. Yeah, she's

18:17

an actress. I could goods a regular

18:19

on the Lumbar. Absolutely. I told you

18:22

I saw her in concert one time

18:24

the open for I, Jerry Lewis at

18:26

the Fox Theater in St. Louis. I

18:28

went to the show. Issues great. Played

18:30

a lot of guitar says a world

18:32

famous Flamingo guitarists. I see a Seventy

18:34

Four today. It's or Adam Clayton basis

18:37

of you to celebrate his birthday as

18:39

well. Either the pleasure meeting him twice

18:41

and a good do diary nice guy

18:43

is hard to of the group. I

18:45

guess the one where the reputation has

18:47

a reputation for being slightly standoffish is

18:50

Larry Mullen. But everyone elses approachable, right?

18:52

Yeah, yeah, that's more from what I

18:54

understand. Yeah, so he turns Sixty Four

18:56

today. It's odd. Neal said dat Ngor

18:58

as his birthday today. And songs

19:00

like Outbreak I'm Sorry To Do,

19:03

Laughter in the Rain which I'm

19:05

a sucker for food as during

19:08

raids on Demand An end with

19:10

Do and I Love and Your

19:12

Nose on A Lightweight is Bad

19:15

Blood Bath. And

19:18

seeing the slow Bad examine

19:20

Elton John those misheard the

19:22

lyric it's just it's was born

19:25

to dark beard supposed. Like

19:28

sperm from me. that. It doesn't

19:30

seem right for our buddies Erode a

19:32

lotta hit songs for other people as

19:34

well. He's eighty five today. my. Calendar.

19:37

Girl he wrote down a grown up

19:40

and he performed lead to I think

19:42

he wrote some for their arms. Ah

19:44

Man in front of the Prodigy Known.

19:47

Aerosmith limited up and not to

19:50

be Bonanno a third. Ah know

19:52

he'd written some Id songs for

19:54

for other crooners. Baiyaa are so

19:56

he's a by and then we

19:58

have actors animal. Gish from

20:01

the X-Files and the West Wing. Yeah. It's

20:03

53 today. Sounds like something

20:05

a gynecologist would encounter. Yes. You have a

20:07

problem. Gish. Oh no. Uh,

20:10

Nick, I mentioned, uh, I'm going to mention

20:12

a guy that, uh, is in a movie

20:15

you love, Emil Hirsch into the wild, which

20:17

is a great movie. It is a terrific

20:19

movie. And you know what, Emil Hirsch is,

20:21

is great as, as, um, God,

20:24

the, uh, he's one of the people with, uh,

20:26

Sharon Tate in, um, and

20:28

once by the time Hollywood, then he's

20:30

really good. And I, he's not Vidal's have

20:32

soon he's JC brings. Okay. Yeah. Uh, he's

20:35

also in, he played speed racer, uh, as

20:37

in the great movie milk. Uh, he is

20:39

39 today. He plays

20:41

half and half, uh, actor common who's been here

20:43

in our studio before, uh, movies

20:46

like American gangster, uh, suicide

20:48

squad, John Wick chapter two. Yes. Oh,

20:50

that whole exchange, that whole fight is

20:52

fantastic. And he's in now you see

20:54

me and he turns 52 today. And

20:57

then the last birthday I mentioned is a Harry

21:00

Melling, uh, who played

21:02

Dudley Dursley in the

21:04

Harry potty Harry Potter films. He, you

21:06

would never ever recognize him. You would

21:09

see a picture of him and go,

21:11

there's no way that he's lost tons

21:13

of weight. Uh, he's also

21:15

in a queen's gambit. He's one of the

21:17

first people, one of the first chess masters

21:19

that she faces off against the daily mail

21:21

loves to take those Harry Potter cast members

21:23

and show them now. And they're like, wow.

21:26

Yeah. Neville Longbottom. He's a good looking dude. Yep. And

21:28

he was such an awkward little geeky kid. And then,

21:30

yeah, Preston, I didn't even recognize this guy at all. He's looks

21:32

very different. Yep. He is a 35 today. All

21:36

right. Uh, it looks like our phones might be working. Let's

21:38

try this out. We are looking for the answer to the

21:40

stupid question today. How many States are

21:42

in Australia? And we will go to Dave

21:44

to see if we can get the answer

21:46

and hang on. Wait, even though Casey's not

21:48

here, I can do this. Hi,

21:51

Dave. Good morning. Hey, good morning.

21:53

How are you? Awesome, Dave. All right. What is the answer,

21:55

sir? Six States. Six States.

21:58

Correct. Yes. Is it? That's

22:00

how the winning music is. Hey, hey,

22:02

hey, hey, hey. Hey,

22:05

hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey.

22:07

Hi, Dave. Thank you. Hang on

22:09

the line. Oh wait, hang on, Paris. Yeah. There's

22:12

a winning music. Alright, Dave.

22:14

We are going to get your information. We

22:17

are going to give you a four-pack of tickets, filled up

22:19

your winning game Saturday, the 23rd spring

22:22

break night with the wings and vacation

22:24

vibes coming to Wells Fargo Center music

22:27

party style competitions, mechanical bull rides, and

22:29

all the action of a wings game,

22:32

filled up your wings back in action throughout March. Tickets

22:34

are on sale now at wingslax.com. Alright, a

22:36

bunch of stuff to get to. I

22:39

don't know how much we're going to be able to dive

22:41

into because we've already wasted a lot of time. Come on.

22:44

Megan Markle scored a legal victory yesterday

22:46

as her years-long battle with her half-sister,

22:48

Samantha Markle, came to a close. Samantha's

22:50

defamation lawsuits were dismissed with prejudice

22:53

by the judge. The dismissal with

22:55

prejudice means Samantha cannot file the

22:58

claims again. She had

23:00

claimed that she was defamed by Megan

23:02

during the Duchess of Sussex. The

23:05

2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, along with

23:07

the Netflix series Harry and Megan, Samantha's

23:09

original lawsuit was dismissed as the judge

23:11

ruled. The comments made during the

23:13

Oprah interview by Megan were her

23:16

opinion about the actress' own childhood. Which is

23:18

the truth. Yeah, the judge wrote at the

23:20

time as a... She may not like them,

23:22

but they were. As a reasonable

23:24

listener would understand it, the defendant merely expresses

23:26

an opinion about her childhood and

23:28

her relationship with her half-siblings. However,

23:31

the royal's half-sister was allowed to file

23:33

an amended complaint. The claims were brought

23:35

again in court in April of 2023.

23:40

But that has now... All this has been put to cause. However, she and

23:42

her legal team believed the

23:45

amended complaint would prove that Megan has defamed her

23:48

sister and that that case will be heard by

23:50

a jury. Peter Ticton, Samantha's Law

23:52

revealed they plan to appeal the latest ruling.

23:54

I... I don't know. You know, it's crazy.

23:57

My perception of the law and the legal...

24:00

system. I always entertained

24:02

the possibility that, okay,

24:05

certain cases will run their course and

24:07

end. And it seems these days, they

24:10

just keep picking at them over and

24:12

over and over again. I guess they

24:14

can't file again, but they can't appeal.

24:16

They can't file, but they can't

24:19

file if they want to. A hell of a

24:22

hell. Director Roman Polanski is

24:24

set to face trial in

24:26

August of next year for

24:29

a rape lawsuit filed against

24:31

him in Los Angeles. I bet

24:33

he'll return for that. The Jane

24:35

Doe plaintiff alleged that Polanski raped

24:37

her when she was underage in

24:39

1973. According to the lawsuit, she

24:41

met Polanski at a party and he

24:43

later invited her to dinner after

24:45

giving her shots of tequila. Polanski

24:47

allegedly drove her to his house where

24:49

he told her he wanted to have sex with her

24:51

despite her objections. His lawyers have

24:54

denied the claims. Polanski, who of

24:56

course has been a fugitive from the US since 1978 after

25:00

pleading guilty to rape of another minor,

25:03

may appear at the trial via

25:05

a live video feed. He's in

25:07

the middle of a similar trial

25:09

in France. Samantha Guimere, who Polanski

25:11

raped when she was 13, 1978,

25:13

appeared in court Friday to ask

25:15

Judge to give her closure by

25:17

resolving the case. He directed one

25:19

of my absolute, I mean,

25:22

Chinatown is a masterpiece. So, you know, you're conflicted,

25:24

but I mean, the work lives on its own.

25:26

You remove the art from the artist. You remove

25:28

the art from the artist. And then he, in

25:30

his own life, had the tragedy

25:32

of his wife and baby murdered by the

25:34

Manson family, but it doesn't justify this. Right.

25:37

Exactly. So I don't know where all this

25:39

stands or what's going to come on. It's

25:41

going to come down to a coin toss.

25:43

It's been dragging around for decades. So we

25:46

will see. All right. This was the

25:48

most interesting story that I've seen this

25:51

morning, years after alleging in her memoir

25:53

that the producer once urged her to

25:55

have sex with a costar. Sharon Stone

25:58

has decided to name names. Stone

26:00

now says, ostentatious film producer

26:03

and studio mogul Robert Evans,

26:05

who died in 2019,

26:08

is the one who pressured her

26:10

to sleep with Billy Baldwin, her co-star in

26:13

the 1993 erotic thriller,

26:15

Slimmer. Stone claims that

26:17

Evans called her into his office during

26:19

filming to request that she help Baldwin's

26:21

performance in the film. And

26:24

she said, and I quote, she was on

26:26

a podcast, she said, or an interview, he's

26:28

running around his office in his sunglasses explaining

26:30

to me that he slept with Ava

26:32

Gardner, his The Sun Also

26:34

Rises co-star, and I should

26:36

sleep with Billy Baldwin because if I slept

26:39

with Billy Baldwin, Billy Baldwin's performance would get

26:41

better. And we needed Billy to be better

26:43

in the movie because that was the problem.

26:47

According to that wasn't the only problem

26:49

with Slimmer. According. Well, that's what you're

26:51

saying that he said, right? According

26:53

to stone, Evans thinking was

26:55

if I could sleep with Billy, then

26:57

we would have chemistry on screen. And

27:00

if I would just have sex with him, then

27:02

that would save the movie. And

27:04

the real problem in the movie was me

27:06

because I was so uptight and so not

27:08

like a real actress who could just F

27:10

him and get things back on track. And

27:13

the real problem is that I was such

27:15

a tight ass. She said, Sliver

27:17

was stones follow up to basic instinct during

27:19

which she says that she had a markedly

27:21

different experience. She said, I didn't have to

27:23

ask Michael Douglas. Michael would come

27:25

to work and just know how to hit those

27:27

marks and do that line and rehearse and show

27:30

up. And now all of a sudden

27:32

I'm in the I have to ask people business,

27:34

she said. Stone wrote that

27:36

she did not follow Evans's alleged

27:38

directive and was labeled difficult for

27:40

it. She said, naturally, I didn't,

27:43

you know what my co-star, he

27:46

was baffled enough with me confusing him

27:48

some more, she wrote, but he

27:50

did make a few haphazard passes at

27:52

me in the upcoming weeks. I'm sure

27:54

spurred on by this genius. She says,

27:56

Billy Baldwin, while that movie is going

27:58

on, the gossip was

28:00

they hated each other and that they had no chemistry.

28:02

Do you remember the movie was such a weird movie

28:04

about like a voyeur in an apartment complex? I watched

28:07

it because of the success of Basic Instinct. Right, exactly.

28:09

And so it was hot on the heels of that.

28:11

And that was a sexy movie and Sliver was then

28:13

trying to be a sexy movie and really was not.

28:15

Yeah. You know what though, I hear

28:17

stories like this and I'm like Hollywood it really

28:20

is like I didn't know it

28:22

was like that. You know, I think it was,

28:24

I mean we know now but

28:28

I didn't know it was like that. There

28:30

are movies, they've made movies about the sleaze

28:32

of Hollywood. Hollywood knows itself and makes movies

28:34

about how sleazy it is and it's always

28:36

been if you go back to the days

28:39

of like Louis B. Mayer and the Warner

28:41

Brothers and all the stuff that they would

28:43

do, it was par for the chorus. There

28:46

is something, I think it's set in like the

28:48

1950s, it's on, I believe it's on Netflix, I

28:50

cannot remember, I only watched a

28:53

portion of it but I mean that's what it

28:55

was about and like you know sexual

28:57

favors for jobs and you know it

28:59

was not. Kathy, you ever read stories about Nancy

29:01

Reagan? No. The

29:04

way that she... She describes

29:06

it? Take my wife's name

29:08

out your mouth. Well, let's

29:11

just put it this way,

29:15

there were a lot of things in Nancy's

29:17

mouth. Yeah. Oh really? She sucked her way

29:19

through a lot of Hollywood. What? Nancy Reagan?

29:21

Oh my God, yes. According to who? A

29:23

lot of stories. Wow. She was a BJ

29:26

Queen for a long time but

29:28

Steve, it's one of those things where like it

29:30

sort of lives in more and

29:32

then people finally confirm it

29:35

years later. Right, right, right. There

29:37

are stories again and my heart

29:39

goes out to countless people and

29:41

actresses who had to do, you

29:45

know, I mean look at recently

29:47

is Mira Servino being brutalized by Harvey

29:49

Weinstein and all those people, all the

29:51

people that he did and they all

29:55

keep it under wraps so that they

29:57

can get their job opportunities and it's

29:59

rare that that anyone came forward. Well, I'll

30:01

think about this particular scenario. Maybe it was a

30:03

case of not the guy pulling her

30:05

in the office and saying, hey, by the way, you

30:07

got to screw Billy Bowman. He may

30:09

have been handling it like, hey, have

30:12

you thought about maybe, you know, I'm

30:14

saying it's

30:16

not, it's inappropriate. It's totally

30:18

wrong. Chemistry with presense

30:20

disease. Not quite. You know what would

30:23

bring the things together. What's your mind?

30:26

Like a little throttle thing going on. Oh

30:28

my God, could you read a chunk on me in his

30:30

office? You should really give both of them

30:33

handy. By the way, Billy

30:35

Baldwin has responded to this. He said

30:37

he wrote on social media, not sure

30:39

why Sharon Stone keeps talking about me

30:41

all these years later. Does she still

30:43

have a crush on me or is

30:46

she still hurt after all these years

30:48

because I shunned her advances? This

30:50

guy sounds like a dirtbag. I cheat him.

30:52

She said, I have so much dirt on

30:55

her that it would make her head spin,

30:57

but I've kept quiet. Oh yeah. The

31:00

story of the meeting I have with Bob Evans

31:02

imploring him, allow me, yeah, imploring

31:05

him, allow me to choreograph the final

31:07

sex scene in the photo that he

31:09

posted is her facing away from him.

31:11

So I wouldn't have to kiss Sharon

31:13

is absolute legend. So Steve, they must

31:16

have hated each other. He said, wonder

31:18

if I should write a book and

31:20

tell the many, many disturbing, kinky and

31:22

unprofessional tales about Sharon. That might be

31:24

fun. And there's a whole list of

31:27

stories about Sharon Stone being difficult to

31:29

work with and nightmares. So you never

31:31

know where everything goes. But I think

31:33

when you, everything you do is hyper

31:35

focused on Mike as you're right, Nick, this

31:37

came right after basic instinct, which made a

31:39

lot of money. All eyes were on her

31:42

because she was the money and Billy Baldwin

31:44

was established. But if you're going to talk,

31:46

why reason, reason people are going to go

31:48

see this movie, you're exactly right. It would

31:50

have been Sharon Stone. Phil in his comment,

31:53

you know, I did you a favor by not

31:55

releasing the information on you. Like,

31:58

I know. I know. All

32:00

right, this is, I wanted to pass

32:02

this along. This is unfortunate, but maybe

32:04

there's a silver lining here. But

32:07

Jake Lloyd, who starred in the Star Wars

32:09

franchise as a child actor is now in

32:11

a mental health rehabilitation facility. According

32:13

to his mother, yeah, it goes deeper

32:15

than we realized. Sorry, who is it?

32:17

He played Anakin Skywalker. Yeah, Jake Lloyd.

32:19

Okay. So in an interview

32:22

with Scripps News, Lloyd's mother, Lisa Lloyd,

32:24

told the outlet about her now 35-year-old

32:26

son's ongoing struggles with mental illness. She

32:28

also wanted to share some of the

32:30

reasons that she's more hopeful today than

32:32

she has been in years. Of course,

32:34

he appeared in Phantom Menace, and

32:36

with the 25th anniversary approaching, Lisa thought it would

32:39

be a perfect time to open up about how

32:41

her son has been doing since Simon Star Wars.

32:43

She said, Jake started having

32:45

some trouble in high school. He started

32:47

talking about realities. He didn't know if

32:50

he was in this reality or a

32:52

different reality, and I didn't really know

32:54

exactly what to say to that.

32:56

She said one day he had, she had asked how he

32:58

completed his homework, and he said, I don't even know if

33:01

I need to do it. I don't know which reality I'm in,

33:03

and I was like, well, you're in my reality today, so you

33:05

gotta do your homework. After taking

33:07

Jake to see a doctor, the medical provider

33:09

said that he could have bipolar disorder, although

33:11

he was prescribed several medications to correct the

33:13

issue, nothing seemed to work. As

33:15

time went on, he graduated from high school.

33:18

He was excited about starting college. However, this

33:20

is where things began to drastically change. She

33:22

said he missed a lot of classes. He

33:24

was telling me that people were following him.

33:27

She said her son would claim to see people

33:29

with black eyes staring at him

33:31

out in public, and that sometimes he

33:33

would engage in late night conversations with

33:36

John Stewart through his television. He

33:39

continued seeing doctors, and then he was finally

33:41

diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Oh my God, yeah.

33:44

She said when they finally told him that, it

33:46

threw him off into an even worse depression. It

33:48

was really hard. He talked about how he refused

33:50

to take his medication because he didn't think he

33:52

was sick, which is a refrain that we hear

33:54

all the time. Lisa

33:56

also recalled a time in 2015 when he...

34:00

led deputies on a multi-county chase before

34:02

wrecking his car. When she

34:04

tried to get him to an attorney, he wouldn't

34:06

answer her calls. She discussed how painful the situation

34:08

was, while also describing a time when he called

34:10

her to say that he had been shot in

34:13

his apartment and she realized he was hallucinating. He

34:16

is currently about 10 months into an 18

34:19

month stay at a mental health

34:21

rehabilitation facility after what

34:23

she calls a full blown psychotic break

34:26

about a year ago. And

34:28

he had turned his car off in the middle of a

34:30

three lane road. Police recalled it was a big

34:32

ordeal. I should say, but he's doing much better

34:35

than I expected now. He's becoming a little bit

34:37

more social. And decades later, she says

34:39

he's still a fan of the franchise. She said he

34:41

loves all the new Star Wars stuff. People think he

34:44

hates Star Wars, but he actually loves it. That

34:46

just must be horrible as a parent. It must

34:48

be unfathomable. He can't put a

34:50

cast on that. You can't put a band-aid on

34:52

that. That's a long

34:54

story too, in a mental hospital? Yeah,

34:57

well, he's, you know. Look at Amanda

34:59

Bynes. She's posting, I

35:02

was saying to Preston the other day

35:04

about her posting rather frequently now on

35:06

TikTok and other stuff. And while she's

35:09

conversive and there, she's

35:11

not really there there. Yeah, as a parent, you

35:13

just wanna protect them, man. That's all you wanna

35:15

do. That's sad, man. It's very,

35:17

very sad. So hopefully he's getting treatment that

35:19

can make his life easier

35:22

to cope with. Yeah. I hope so, we'll see.

35:25

All right, one last story. And then we will

35:27

move on to the clips. Nick,

35:29

I had you on mine once again. It was

35:31

Darryl Strawberry's birthday yesterday. What we did

35:33

not know is he's recovering from a

35:35

heart attack and is in the hospital.

35:37

He was stricken on Monday, a day

35:39

before his birthday, his 62nd birthday. And

35:43

he posted a photo of himself in the

35:45

hospital on Instagram road. I'm so happy and

35:47

honored to report that all is well. So

35:50

thankful to the medical team and staff of

35:53

St. Joseph West and Lake St. Louis

35:55

for responding so quickly and bringing me

35:58

through a standard procedure. has

36:00

brought my heart to total restoration. Nick, it's

36:02

Joe Strawberry. I need that card back. Yeah,

36:04

here's the $80, too. He

36:06

looks good in the photo. He does. Strawberry,

36:09

he lives in O'Fallon, Missouri, is resting

36:11

comfortably. The Mets are

36:13

going to retire his number 18 on June 1st after

36:16

retiring Dwight Gooden's number 16 on April

36:19

14th. So you've got to travel for

36:21

there. That you have cards. Yeah, well,

36:23

all right. Oh, and maybe we'll... Ladies

36:25

and gentlemen, for the Preston's, Steve Foulnick

36:28

McElwain. Pinch my nose and go to one Mets game.

36:30

The pair led the team to the

36:33

1986 World Series title. So they're

36:35

both getting their... Numbers retire,

36:37

which is really cool. You actually used to

36:39

have to pinch your nose in the Shea

36:41

Stadium. Yeah, it's just a brief, horrible... About

36:45

nine levels of asbestos. All

36:48

right, we can now segue over to

36:50

the clip. Not

36:53

dead yet. Follows Neil.

36:56

Or no, it says Nell. Is

36:58

it Nell? Nell. All

37:01

right. I'm not in it. Yeah. Yeah,

37:03

Nell. And the accident-prone obituary

37:05

writer who is hunted by

37:08

the dead people that she

37:10

writes about. And in this

37:12

clip, star Gina Rodriguez talks

37:15

about the positive energy that each show

37:17

provides. Here we go. No. Oh,

37:20

no. Hang on, let me try it again. Hang on. No.

37:23

Wait, Nell. Don't worry. Thank

37:25

you. Let me try. All

37:28

right, hold on. Nope. Nope, it's

37:30

not working. Wait, you know why? Hold on. Here,

37:33

these aren't engaged. Hold on a second. Let's try

37:35

this. All right, now we can try this. Son

37:38

of a bitch. I want my... Also,

37:41

Tata, I like. No,

37:43

that's not gonna happen. The Nell clips are

37:45

probably better. Yeah, probably. At

37:47

least more understandable. All right. Engage.

37:50

We lost one thing. We got phones, we don't have Voxpro. All right,

37:52

we don't have the Voxpro, which is our digital

37:54

audio piece of equipment

37:56

here. So, okay, well,

37:59

anyway. The

38:01

out-to was going to be to tell right now. That's

38:03

this right there. That's all I have. I

38:05

saw Don't Go Away. Oh my God,

38:07

I haven't heard that one before. I see that again. I

38:10

saw Don't Go Away. That's

38:12

kind of musical. Yeah, actually. That's

38:15

her live at Red Rock. Okay.

38:18

And then, here, this is another clip that

38:20

we won't have a clip from. The

38:22

teachers of Abbott Elementary have exited

38:25

their comfort zone for season three while

38:27

Principal Coleman was encouraged to go back

38:29

in. I got it. Here, Janelle James

38:32

talks about King Tabrunsen writing

38:35

an epic dance

38:37

scene into the first episode. I'd

38:40

like to apologize to Jennifer Garner

38:42

and her pool for incorporating

38:44

them into my fantasy life. I

38:47

apologize to anyone who has

38:49

been offended by my fictional

38:51

creations, Chris Ligon, the philosopher

38:53

of evil, and the skull sealer. Wow.

38:56

I know no one's turned that into a

38:58

remix song for us yet. We've been playing

39:01

that for years. We just recently rediscovered it.

39:03

We go through phases. Soon, I'm sure, Rubber

39:05

Johnny will make his reappearance. Abbott

39:09

Elementary airs tonight on ABC, by the

39:11

way. All right. And that

39:13

is where we're going to wrap it up at

39:15

the entertainment break this morning. We got a lot

39:17

of stuff going on today. So we have a

39:19

secret text word, and we're giving away tickets to

39:21

see our buddy Brad Williams. He's

39:23

in AC at the Ocean

39:25

Casino Resort, the Ovation Hall.

39:29

Tickets go on sale Friday. The show's

39:31

not until Saturday, October 19th. But

39:33

text word secret to 39333, and then you'll have your October 19th weekend, if you

39:35

win, and

39:39

we'll randomly grab a text word on top of having

39:41

you call in with the secret text word. We

39:44

will go live on Fox Good Day this

39:46

morning, and we're going to have actor Judge

39:48

Reinhold joining us because he's got a show

39:50

coming up at the Keswick Theater

39:52

on Saturday to screen Fast Times at Ridgemont

39:55

High and do a Q&A and all that

39:57

good stuff. Excellent. And we leave them for

39:59

Florida. day after the show. We're

40:01

reuniting with Casey Boy who will meet

40:03

us there. We have to have one

40:05

of those passionate sort of airport

40:08

meetings where I drop our luggage and go running towards

40:10

each other. I think we are meeting him at the

40:13

airport, right? Is he picking us up? So anyhow,

40:16

we will be broadcasting live tomorrow, spring training

40:18

in Clearwater, but we'll be back in just

40:20

a second here, so stay with us. I

41:09

mentioned earlier that we're going to see Casey

41:11

tomorrow. He's been out. He's in South

41:13

Carolina. His son is a really cool

41:16

rugby event that's going on, but he

41:18

texted me yesterday and he asked

41:20

me, he's like, do you guys miss me? And

41:22

I said passionately. He texted me the

41:24

same thing. Did he? He

41:26

responded with me. He's like, this is

41:29

a very lonely year. Oh,

41:31

really? Yeah. Even though he's with his son, it's

41:33

not as often these rugby events and he's busy,

41:35

you know, for a lot of times. So

41:38

he's just kind of twiddling his

41:40

thumbs and hanging out. He

41:42

didn't text me to see

41:44

if I missed him. But

41:47

he said he's lonely. So I think

41:50

he's very much looking forward to our

41:52

meetup later today. And he

41:54

wants to see an alligator. Oh my God. God

41:56

damn, just go look for an alligator. Like

42:00

one time when I was there, it's just there.

42:03

Like how has he not seen one at this point? I don't know.

42:06

And it's really not that big a deal when you see one,

42:08

unless it's like right next to you or something like that. But

42:10

I've been on a couple of golf trips with him and he

42:14

is just a little kitty. He's just flying around

42:16

looking for alligators out on the golf course. And

42:18

we never did see him. He was always so

42:20

disappointed. Take half a side of a lamb or

42:23

whatever and just tie it in the water. Yeah,

42:25

tie it to your ankle, walk around for a

42:27

while. You'll find one. You'll find one

42:29

later. Hey, I wanted to mention this story. I had it

42:31

a couple of days ago in The Bazaar File, but I

42:33

wanted to see if people had similar stories because

42:35

I'm certain that there are. And it

42:37

also might give us some ideas down

42:39

the road should we find ourselves in

42:42

minor peril. It was a

42:44

story of a woman at Cambridge University

42:48

and she was locked in

42:50

a medieval tower. Yeah, it

42:52

sounds like a Rapunzel, but

42:54

it's real. And she quote

42:56

unquote, MacGyvered and escape. She

42:59

was locked in the bathroom at Queens College

43:01

and she remained stuck for seven hours and

43:04

she eventually found her way out and she

43:06

was able to use a cotton swab as

43:09

a hook and an eyeliner pencil

43:11

to eventually get

43:13

the latch undone and got out of there.

43:16

So she improvised. She did what

43:18

MacGyver did. Yes. And

43:20

she found a way to use a gun to

43:22

get out of a situation. I wanted to know

43:24

if people had any similar stories where they were

43:26

able to use standard items that were

43:28

laying around to help you. And I do have

43:30

a story. My

43:33

sister and I were traveling

43:35

in Mexico, okay, where you don't want

43:37

to find yourself in a

43:40

weird situation. We were in Rosarito, by the

43:42

way, my microphone is even more squeaky now.

43:45

Well, you put stuff on it. So

43:47

we were in Rosarito and she

43:49

locked her keys in her car. We're in

43:51

Mexico. Keys are locked in

43:54

the car. We're like, oh my God, what

43:56

are we going to do? How

43:58

The Hell are we going to? You know, we're not going to. There's been

44:00

a language real speak the language we

44:02

hear rumors about the Mexican police yes

44:05

Slrs you for no reason is probably

44:07

not true but whatever may be. So

44:09

we're monitoring and says we're just puzzling

44:12

over this for hours. were trying a

44:14

coat hanger to get addicted, a car

44:16

unlocked and excuse me sir been are

44:18

you a foot model hand and ah

44:21

eventually soup is yeah they a light

44:23

bulb moments and she's like any broom

44:25

a room unlike would sell you do

44:28

with with know the zebra, mussels, I

44:30

go to the hotel room there was

44:32

a cc other sunroof slightly cracks open.

44:35

Ah and so she used the broom

44:37

and she had a manual trunk release

44:39

on the floor begged for example ours

44:42

the broom down in their home. it's

44:44

a button. Pop the trunk open we

44:46

climb through the trunk open up the

44:49

car thought it was bomb it was

44:51

officer you push them the back seat

44:53

down. Yes our

44:55

guide or it was like a has

44:58

backers are within your your your god

45:00

Ryan Yeah so so she was able

45:02

to get her weight room saved the

45:04

day your hero very very very I

45:06

inventive thinking on her parts are in

45:08

in idea of you guys seen the

45:11

videos lately as if you find yourself

45:13

in an emergency where you need to

45:15

get into a vehicle and say you

45:17

lock your dog and Henri or your

45:19

child and I write like that's where

45:22

you use duct tape Have you seen

45:24

as now. Where's your resume? Are

45:26

we assuming who were he is that the

45:28

the a non fog situation where you're a

45:30

in the observed keys whenever he knew can't

45:32

get into your car out viewed law should

45:34

easy to I don't know. I let's see

45:36

Cinnabar before when he was younger in the

45:39

cars even. If I had the allergy and

45:41

ah, for whatever reason, you could still lock

45:43

your damn t. Y our okay.

45:45

And I've seen this duct tape thing, but I don't

45:47

ever seen the end result like I've I've I've watched

45:49

videos of it. This is what you do this, what

45:52

you do and then I never see. Them. for

45:54

what he did the window on the sabbath

45:56

so see you take you take duct tape

45:58

and you create a a rectangle on

46:01

the window with it. And

46:03

then you put a piece of duct tape on the

46:05

top of that, that

46:07

rectangle, you leave it dangling. You don't

46:09

actually tape all of it to the

46:11

window. Okay, so it's closed. And you

46:13

use it as if it's a handle

46:15

and you yank down like this and

46:17

it will actually pull down the window

46:19

enough for you to reach your arm in

46:21

and then unlock the car door. So, hmm,

46:24

yeah. That's a genius. Wow.

46:26

Casey was wondering if that actually worked or not. I

46:28

don't know if I wanna try it on a car that way, because you

46:30

could, does that F up the car? Well, yeah, yeah,

46:33

definitely. But you're an emergency, so you need to get

46:35

into it. Right, right, right. And there's

46:37

another, we're looking at another video that Nick pulled up,

46:39

and this has more than just a rectangle. It's like

46:41

almost covered in pile. It's covered in the entire car

46:43

in duct tape. And duct tape, but then you use

46:46

the leave part hanging as if it were a handle

46:48

and it's showing this guy doing it, unlocking it. What

46:50

if you locked duct tape in the car, though? Yeah.

46:53

Then you're really screwed. Then you're just screwed. But

46:57

I think if you're not concerned about

46:59

breaking the window or messing up here,

47:01

the interior of your door, then you gotta

47:03

do that. So I was masterful, and this

47:05

is a standard one, the coat hanger. When

47:09

you did not have, when you had the actual lifted

47:11

up door

47:13

locks. Yes. And I was

47:16

a master. In fact, I kept a bent

47:18

coat hanger. Good idea. In my briefcase going

47:20

to college. Seriously? Just in case. In your

47:22

briefcase? Just in case. That's funny. I

47:24

had a guy one time, we were playing a gig

47:26

somewhere in my band and I locked my keys in

47:28

my car. And I didn't know what the hell

47:31

to do because I was going to have to

47:33

call a locksmith. Yeah. Yeah. God almighty. Expensive. Especially

47:35

for a car. I had to do that for

47:37

an apartment one time. And the guy took

47:40

like three seconds. He was like, here you go. He

47:43

was like, oh my God. I actually bought

47:45

a set of, well, anyhow, I had a guy who

47:47

had worked at this bar we were playing at and

47:49

he brought out a set of picks and

47:51

he picked my- He said, wow. Okay. And

47:54

I got it in my car. I thought that

47:56

was awesome. I, a couple of years ago, I

47:58

bought a, a lot. picking

48:00

trainer. How is it? I

48:03

started reading a little bit of it and

48:05

I'm like this is more involved than I

48:07

thought. Right. And then I just set it

48:09

aside and I never played around. Because the

48:12

ones who do it and do it effective

48:14

now they sell these things and apparently obviously

48:16

the you know our various agencies have things

48:18

that immediately can pick a lock

48:20

quickly but when I've seen people picking locks

48:23

a lot of times Preston it involves two

48:25

devices. Yep. Then I'm like I'm too stupid for that. There

48:28

are these pins that you have to hold down. There's specific

48:30

types of locks and I'm like no. Give me

48:32

a hammer. I think I'm gonna learn. I think

48:34

it's on my tiny

48:37

bucket list of things that I want to learn

48:39

how to do. For your theft career after radio.

48:41

No just because you never know when you might

48:43

be in an emergency

48:45

and need to pick a lock. But

48:48

anyhow we're taking calls of people who've been MacGyvered

48:50

or have MacGyvered themselves out of the situation.

48:52

I'm gonna go to Tim. Hey

48:54

Tim. Morning bud. Jim.

48:57

Jim. What's going on Jim. Hey

48:59

so I was working on a generator

49:01

up on a third-story building one time and

49:04

it was a little windy and I heard a crash.

49:06

I turned around my ladder fell

49:09

off the roof onto the balcony

49:11

below. Oh no. Nobody was home.

49:14

I had no way to get down. So

49:16

luckily I had to roll a duct tape

49:18

on me a spray bottle to clean stuff. I

49:21

wrapped the duct tape around the bottle,

49:23

fished it down, caught the leg of

49:25

the ladder. They were pulled the ladder

49:27

up. This was

49:29

after the tape broke one. Tied

49:33

it up. Got the ladder up.

49:35

Was able to get down. So you basically

49:37

you fished for the ladder and you use

49:39

the spray bottle as the hook. As the

49:42

hook exactly. Wow. That's a great idea. Yeah.

49:44

How proud of yourself for you after that

49:46

Tim? Oh my god I told that. This

49:48

happened like two years ago and I love

49:51

telling this story. He's pitching it to Hollywood.

49:53

Yeah. That's the best. Yeah that's

49:55

cool. Yeah you want to spend all your

49:57

time up there? Duct tape will save your ass.

50:00

Duct tape is one of the great resources to have in

50:02

your car. The

50:05

gorilla tape or anything that has some sort of durability to

50:07

it. When you were talking about putting a rectangle around the

50:09

window, I thought you were talking about smashing

50:11

it but stopping the... No, no, no.

50:14

You know that's... Yeah. Yeah,

50:16

right? See that? Right. You

50:19

know what? I should keep some duct tape. Do you

50:21

guys have like first aid kits? I have some. Stuff

50:23

like that. I bought this insane kit

50:26

in the car. This thing is ridiculous.

50:29

It's so stupid but it appeals to

50:31

me because I got to get all that tactical

50:33

crap. So I've got every goddamn thing you could

50:35

need. The trick is to remember to put it

50:37

in the car. I do. I

50:39

have the first aid kit. I have, you know, like whatever,

50:41

some tools and stuff. Food, pepper stuff. No, that's... I

50:43

have that in this bag. That's what I was going

50:46

to say. What I don't have in my car and

50:48

my friend always keeps granola bars in her car. I

50:51

don't have any type of food. So

50:53

if I were to get stranded somewhere,

50:55

I would probably dive start. You don't

50:57

like packaged beef jerky. I keep a

51:00

whole rotisserie chicken in the glove compartment.

51:02

Spinning. Yeah. Because you never know.

51:04

The trick is to remember Preston to keep it moist.

51:06

No the... I bought one

51:08

of those tire inflators. The ones that do

51:11

not need the US battery. Yeah.

51:14

And it actually works like gangbusters. Oh really?

51:16

Really good. Did you use it? I just

51:19

wanted to see how it worked to get

51:21

one under my belt. And yeah, it's

51:23

pretty effortless. You punch in the

51:26

pressure. It has a big digital readout on

51:28

it. And it does it. And it does

51:30

it quickly. You can use it to inflate

51:33

yard stuff or pool stuff or

51:36

a basketball. It's amazing. Okay.

51:38

I got one of those for I think Christmas. I haven't

51:40

tinkered around with it yet. Put it next to the home

51:42

beer maker. Right? Yeah. Let me

51:45

go next to Keith. Hey Keith,

51:47

good morning. Good morning. All right.

51:50

But how did you MacGyver yourself out of

51:52

a situation? I was

51:54

exploring an old abandoned warehouse one time by

51:56

myself. And I didn't know there was

51:58

a caretaker on the back. property and the door

52:01

that I came in I heard shut when

52:03

I was on the second floor. Oh no. And

52:06

yeah I have explored for about two more hours

52:08

I couldn't find a way out. I ended up

52:10

finding an old fire hose. I ended up climbing

52:12

up the third floor with an old uh. You

52:16

John McClain today. Yeah yeah

52:18

it was quite the day. Wow

52:22

that's impressive and I've always wondered how that

52:24

scenario would play out because you've seen that

52:26

in a few years. What happened? Would

52:29

one of those old style hose

52:32

spools hold a

52:34

human man trying to

52:36

repel down some of the location?

52:39

Was it one that was like made out of uh

52:41

like canvas? Yeah it

52:43

was like an old canvas. Okay well that's pretty

52:45

durable. That's really durable yeah. Alright thanks man appreciate

52:47

it. Let me go next to

52:50

Eric. Eric you're on the air good morning.

52:53

Hey sorry it doesn't work. Hey

52:55

sorry buddy what's up? So

52:57

uh yeah I was traveling a couple years ago

52:59

down in Louisiana. I had to get up at like

53:02

2 a.m. to meet my boss. We were going

53:04

to go travel to Texas and

53:06

I go into the bathroom do whatever get a shower

53:08

and then I go to get out and the door

53:10

was locked. So

53:13

I'm freaking out for whatever reason I didn't even bring

53:15

my phone with me so I had no way of

53:18

calling anybody it's 3 a.m. or whatever. So

53:20

I ended up grabbing the hair dryer and

53:22

beat the heck out of the doorknob enough to

53:24

like loosen the cap on it and then use

53:26

the plug to unscrew the doorknob all apart and

53:29

took it apart. So you were able to loosen

53:31

the cap that covers the screws and you were

53:33

able to remove it so you kind of just

53:35

beat that loose. Yeah you have

53:37

to do what you have to do man. Yeah

53:39

and so I brought down the handle and everything

53:42

to the reception area and I said the... What

53:44

the heck you shouldn't have complained. What the hell is this?

53:47

Yeah you get it off my hands. I

53:49

paid for this. I'm paying for a room

53:51

and I'm assuming it's secure and yet

53:54

this falls off. I

53:56

love it that's a great idea Eric nice job

53:58

man. I

54:00

love this one. It says, one time during

54:02

a bad storm, the motor on my windshield

54:04

wipers broke. I literally, I took

54:07

my boot laces off, I

54:09

tied my wipers together, and then I

54:11

tied the other boot

54:14

laces to the end of the

54:16

wipers and was driving like a

54:19

marionette, swishing my wipers manually across

54:21

the windshield. It's inventive. It was

54:23

absolutely inventive. You adapted.

54:26

Kathy, you're resourceful. Your dad

54:28

MacGyver, the brake lights, right?

54:30

My brake lights were at one point, he

54:32

was like, okay, so when you're stopping, just

54:35

push the doorbell that I have in your

54:37

center console, that's your brake light. I was

54:39

like, what? It's

54:42

so great. The

54:44

doorbell in the center console. I'm

54:47

going to go to Joe. Morning, Joe.

54:50

Good morning, how have you got? Good,

54:53

buddy. What's going on, my man? This

54:55

is more of a story.

54:58

I locked my keys in my

55:00

car running in my driveway at home. Unfortunately

55:04

for me, nobody was home, so I couldn't get in

55:06

the house and nobody was around. So

55:09

I walked five miles while I called the tow truck company and

55:11

they wanted $115 to get me

55:13

in my car. So I walked

55:15

to Home Depot, those and got me a

55:18

blood pressure cuff. Okay. And

55:20

the blood crusher cuff works fantastic.

55:23

How did you use it? It's not

55:25

like a blood pressure cuff you take your blood. It's like

55:27

a black little great invention. You

55:29

stick it in your door jam, you give it

55:31

a couple puffs and it's right open a little

55:34

bit. I've seen this.

55:36

Yes. Yeah. And so it gives you

55:38

enough room to finagle your way in, correct? For $115, I

55:40

think I bought 10 of them, so I have 10 of

55:43

them scattered around my house. And it

55:45

was great. It was the best hundred and

55:47

some bucks I ever not spent. You know,

55:49

they use those for all sorts of things.

55:52

Getting things uplifting. Yeah,

55:54

they're pretty reliable. Have you used

55:56

it for anything other than getting

55:58

into your own car? Are you the

56:00

twice since then and I have that are in

56:03

and reason for a So is literally a blood

56:05

pressure is man. I'm on a dental and exact

56:07

name of a thing like a little notepad and

56:09

it's just like Saddam A note. Is.

56:12

Busy in your door them and

56:14

just like you would have been

56:16

okay so is made for that.

56:18

Okay I thought you literally he

56:20

wins and like a Cd every

56:22

other the but okay I'm in

56:24

need of depends not yeah I

56:26

know what you're saying. yeah thank

56:28

you Joe. Appreciate that said. So

56:30

yeah that is available so he

56:32

didn't make it emsellem yeah creative

56:35

out there. Ah let's go to

56:37

and the ah hello there and.

56:40

Morning I'm German. Shepard

56:43

german down, months of mad. Though.

56:45

I was driving down seventy six I had

56:47

an old car does sixty eight mustang and

56:49

actually had a big that radiator hose in

56:51

a blue army are rare to. I went

56:53

everywhere the bagel for asthma, electrical tape and

56:56

in the trunk forgot that wrapped it's the

56:58

whole school around it to the figure it

57:00

expands it would hope and but I never

57:02

the right here for a lot better about

57:04

pm and at which we did the army

57:06

want yeah. And said we either

57:08

there was that. It is that there's

57:11

a big impact. My Site: I crawled

57:13

out the back with a container in

57:15

the back. In there is a cricket.

57:17

The bottles I'd buy like fifteen minutes

57:19

don't up this container. This will trickle

57:22

of water and that I call my

57:24

way back up this thirty foot embankment.

57:26

still get up at work. Sensibly Macgyver

57:28

moment I I remember Price of a

57:31

similar to his own style Vcr. I

57:33

was i you know how you doing

57:35

on a kennesaw. The mechanism, words and.

57:37

I used I used as a

57:39

shoelace tied together on the schools

57:41

to on in I tied at

57:43

a certain point they'll get the

57:45

not really small yeah yeah yeah

57:47

and it was a when it

57:49

when worked as a bell it

57:51

worked as a belt now and

57:53

I'm like okay Helen the last

57:55

week much worse when you have

57:57

pointed towards you gotta in. Yeah,

58:00

you're in the moment at crisis. I'm gonna

58:02

go to Sean. Hi Sean

58:04

morning. Hey, good morning. Hey, what's up,

58:06

bud? I Jump

58:09

started the car with a drill battery a

58:11

fork and a knife because I didn't have

58:13

jumper cable Real battery

58:15

a fork and a knife. I want to hear how

58:17

this works There's

58:19

just the transfer of energy if you have

58:21

a DeWalt I had a DeWalt battery But

58:24

you take the fork you bend the

58:26

second and third prong down so you have one

58:29

and four out It

58:31

fits into the copper port

58:33

on the battery Okay, you

58:35

touch the fork and the black or

58:37

you touch the fork to the red and then you

58:40

touch the knife Oh my god from the black. How

58:42

do you hold the fork without getting shocked? You

58:44

hold the battery you hold the battery For

58:48

touch and so you were able

58:50

to get a successful charge and jump a car

58:52

and get it started Wow,

58:56

I mean it's more of a redneck trick than I'm a guy It's

59:02

fork in amazing, uh, I love

59:04

that. All right. Thanks man. Appreciate it. There's the

59:06

I don't have I don't have a car batteries

59:09

There's that scene in in Breaking Bad where they

59:11

get stuck out in the desert in their RV

59:14

And he's got a fun and the battery died. Yeah,

59:17

and they're like That you

59:19

will die trying to walk out of there

59:21

Yeah, and so they MacGyver legitimately a way

59:23

how did he created a trickle charger to

59:25

just get Barely enough a charge he

59:28

had to sit there and crank it like for eight

59:30

hours Yeah And eventually got enough of a

59:32

charge to start it back I imagine having that chemistry knowledge

59:34

in your brain to be able to do something like that.

59:36

I have seen on I don't

59:38

know the science Programs where

59:41

they've used a drill like

59:43

a battery-powered drill. Yeah to create

59:45

some kind of a power generator Before

59:48

but I wonder so on those

59:50

like you talk about those things you keep in the

59:52

car the little The little solar

59:55

battery that you can apply to anything

59:57

you're using. Does anyone have those I

59:59

do. Yeah Like a little in your car you

1:00:01

keep it there. I keep it

1:00:03

for like charging purpose. Okay, so I don't

1:00:05

think that it would work on a car

1:00:07

Okay But there's got to be

1:00:09

I mean there are outdoor batteries you can buy

1:00:11

that are pretty large batteries Yeah, maybe you could

1:00:14

transfer that power to I mean you're talking like

1:00:16

a real dilemma where you had to do You

1:00:18

know something, you know what? I love every now

1:00:20

and then on my Instagram

1:00:22

algorithm a video will pop up of

1:00:25

these people that will

1:00:28

Essentially create things while they're out camping

1:00:30

or backpacking. Yes and

1:00:32

it'll show you how to make a functional

1:00:35

stool a Water

1:00:38

heater or you know out of just

1:00:40

brand you didn't have this flying around.

1:00:42

Yeah, it's a good grill stuff Yeah,

1:00:44

totally So I was watching this

1:00:47

documentary president about these people who are trapped on

1:00:49

an island and they made a car out of

1:00:51

coconuts and palm leaves And

1:00:53

it was crazy. Why has that not been more

1:00:55

widely shared these days? Let

1:00:57

me there's I'm sorry president go ahead. No, there's

1:01:00

a gold zero that it's a brand and

1:01:02

they make this solar powered yeti

1:01:05

Charger right and so it takes a long time

1:01:07

to charge you are you'd imagine what you can

1:01:09

use it as a generator out in The wild

1:01:11

it's it's made for camping purposes I wonder if

1:01:14

you charge that up fully if you could find a

1:01:16

way to transfer any of that power To

1:01:19

a car battery. I wonder I think you'd

1:01:21

probably have to have some sort of conduit perhaps

1:01:24

a bear running on a treadmill Okay Your

1:01:28

more idea and that might help the

1:01:30

flow. Okay, we have to find

1:01:32

a bear a moderate-sized one Yeah

1:01:34

in decent. Yeah, I'm gonna run

1:01:36

for a while and a working

1:01:38

treadmill better listens to the instruction

1:01:41

I Wonder I got

1:01:43

to believe that these Solar

1:01:46

batteries don't have a whole lot

1:01:49

of juice in them They don't but if you're

1:01:51

talking about like you're talking about but an emergency

1:01:53

breaking bad scenario We had to power something or

1:01:55

maybe perhaps charge your phone. Yeah, I could say

1:01:57

all right, you know or charge your credit cards

1:02:01

Something all kinds of yeah

1:02:03

applications for this. Ah, let

1:02:05

me go next to die

1:02:07

and Morning dawn. Good.

1:02:09

Morning are you Gray man was a but

1:02:11

it was. I remember your work out on

1:02:13

buddy words I am I'm a guy. Bring

1:02:15

your way out of something would happen to

1:02:17

you are oh my wife give sat underneath

1:02:19

the cigarettes were all times I got a

1:02:22

flashlight. eventually went on behind as big old

1:02:24

five underneath goes low frat right. Shot

1:02:27

in have anything to instill of

1:02:29

with so as the noise dilemma

1:02:31

because peter to so it down

1:02:33

to my face with my daughter's

1:02:35

all bicycle interview about it caught

1:02:37

it about six inches and. Decided

1:02:40

he started a fight and five years

1:02:42

later still working like it's all sides.

1:02:44

Years later, many days are being the

1:02:46

on and and press. I'm sure you'll

1:02:48

agree with this. anyone's whose emphasis hit

1:02:50

those. This guy knows that thing they'll

1:02:52

use for handcuffs as well. Guess what

1:02:54

you can do with those is amazing

1:02:56

guys and for all the time lot

1:02:58

of Santa has different sizes like I

1:03:01

am. I guess I'm like that.and with

1:03:03

a hazard comes in with his own

1:03:05

poses. As I have a case I

1:03:07

gotta just all those two of those

1:03:09

us. Are they called zip ties? Yep

1:03:11

it's a nice I've I bought a bunch of

1:03:13

Ms while different sauces to save my mom is

1:03:15

news and for tons of things. I just had

1:03:17

something in my car that the seat belts have

1:03:19

solving. Down Into the Leather. And it was

1:03:21

just because the leather was born. And basically

1:03:24

they're like you have to just get. A

1:03:26

whole new seat and I was like months

1:03:28

and you. Ever won a seat belt

1:03:30

and ah, somehow they are able to

1:03:32

use zip ties! To Okay naked say up

1:03:34

Saying can be is nothing they can do. I

1:03:36

like zip ties and I like Care Bears. I

1:03:38

was a. Nice

1:03:40

I I. I.

1:03:44

Left on my briefcase right here

1:03:46

and just the you never know

1:03:48

it really so of mine come

1:03:50

in handy. Yeah I do. You

1:03:53

can daisy chain them together sorts

1:03:55

of ways. A The great, don't

1:03:57

I do? I use zip ties.

1:04:00

keep my carabiners in place. Good

1:04:03

idea. Those things

1:04:05

can save your ass. Carabiners and zip ties.

1:04:08

That's the name of my book. That's the

1:04:10

name of my book. Carabiners and zip

1:04:13

ties. I love it. And

1:04:15

turnbuckles. Turnbuckles. That word is

1:04:17

awesome. Yeah. Let

1:04:19

me go. Let's

1:04:21

see. I like this one. I'm going to go

1:04:23

to Mike. Hey, Mike. Morning, buddy. Oh,

1:04:26

my balls. Morning,

1:04:29

guys. Okay, so. Oh, my

1:04:31

balls. Oh, my balls. I'm

1:04:34

retired from UPS. They

1:04:36

used to have this thing for the mechanics

1:04:38

called zero road calls. So, you know, something

1:04:41

stupid. You kind of help the mechanic out.

1:04:43

And they do pretty well. They get

1:04:45

acknowledged and stuff. I

1:04:47

back into Lockheed Martin up

1:04:49

off of Goddard Boulevard by the I fly. Yeah. As

1:04:53

I'm backing in, I lose power in the truck. I

1:04:55

can't give it any throttle. I realize the

1:04:58

throttle cable had broken. So I popped

1:05:00

the hood. I'm looking at it. And I'm like, all

1:05:02

right, you know, how can I get home? This is literally my last stop

1:05:04

of the day. It's going to be an hour before they get a mechanic

1:05:06

or a tow truck out. I want to go home. So

1:05:09

it's one of the old style like carburetor type

1:05:12

with a butterfly on the carburetor. I reached

1:05:14

down. I take off my shoelace. I

1:05:16

run it from the butterfly

1:05:19

through the firewall. Shut up. Up to where

1:05:21

I could. Swear to God. Up to where

1:05:23

I can hold on to it. I've

1:05:25

been driving manual transmission. UPS

1:05:27

truck down to. Oh, whoa. You're

1:05:30

driving a manual. So you're

1:05:32

shifting gears one hand. You're working the throttle

1:05:34

with the other one and trying to steer

1:05:36

all the same time. Wait,

1:05:39

the best part. I had cruise

1:05:41

control. I took the I took the shoelace and I

1:05:43

tied it around the one that tied, but

1:05:45

I like wrapped it around the high beam light headlights.

1:05:49

So like I'm doing 65 miles an hour down

1:05:51

to two with the shoelace wrapped around the headlight

1:05:53

knob. Whenever

1:05:57

I come up to traffic, I just kind of loosen a little bit.

1:06:00

The amount of ways you

1:06:02

carry a car or a

1:06:04

truck is amazing. And

1:06:07

so that's a genius. Yeah. You

1:06:10

did. How many times Preston did you

1:06:13

have to reconnect a muffler or reconnect

1:06:15

a tailpipe? Yeah. Figure out

1:06:17

a way to get those to stay. The muffler thing.

1:06:19

I remember using a coat hanger. A

1:06:22

coat hanger. But a

1:06:24

zip tie would work pretty well, although it might melt.

1:06:26

Yeah. Yeah. Definitely.

1:06:29

Climb some things to hold together. You don't always snap

1:06:31

off, Steve, with a radio antenna. Radio

1:06:34

antenna. Duct tape that bad boy back

1:06:36

on. And you could use a coat hanger. You could

1:06:38

use a coat. You ever see a car driving by

1:06:40

with a coat hanger sticking up off the hood of

1:06:42

their cars? That was hilarious. That's a dated concept. That

1:06:44

sure is. Yeah. We

1:06:47

made advancements as a society. Uh-huh.

1:06:49

Now you just put up a dry cleaning bag.

1:06:52

All right. This sounds interesting. A couple more calls and we've

1:06:54

got to take a break. I'm going to go to John.

1:06:56

Hey, John, good morning. Hey,

1:06:58

what's up, man? Yeah, bud. All right. How'd

1:07:01

you MacGyver your way out? All right. So

1:07:03

I had a work truck and I heard this

1:07:05

from my father-in-law a long time ago. And

1:07:08

he told me that he put packages

1:07:11

of black pepper in

1:07:13

a radiator because it's pressurized.

1:07:17

It will actually stop up the crack enough

1:07:19

to where you can get where you're going.

1:07:21

So the black pepper will naturally go to

1:07:23

where the hole is and it

1:07:26

will sort of congeal and stop the liquid

1:07:29

from streaming out? Yes,

1:07:31

because the whole thing is pressure up. So I've

1:07:33

heard the same thing about like putting

1:07:36

an egg in your radiator. I

1:07:39

don't know. All right. Pepper's an

1:07:41

egg. My whole breakfast is going to be

1:07:43

like, oh, something's happening. So did it work for you, John?

1:07:47

Yeah, it did. I had to

1:07:49

walk about a mile to McDonald's

1:07:52

and I got about 30 packs, a little

1:07:54

patch of black pepper. Well,

1:07:56

it'd be there, sir. 30 packs of pepper,

1:07:58

please. Hey, I

1:08:01

just grabbed them from the, uh, you know,

1:08:03

the little spot where he gets up and,

1:08:05

uh, I dump it in the radiator

1:08:07

and, um, that was it. I

1:08:10

was able to drive my mechanic shop and

1:08:12

it actually did because it's pressure. I just

1:08:14

stopped. Thanks,

1:08:17

John. Appreciate you. Just shove a nugget in the hole.

1:08:23

I will. Interesting. I'm looking at the clock. We got a break

1:08:25

now because we have to go live on Fox. Good day. I

1:08:27

totally forgot about that. All right. I'm on time and thank you

1:08:29

for your calls. And by the way, um, Wayne

1:08:31

had said there's some YouTube channels that they'll

1:08:33

teach out of MacGyver. You're right. There's some,

1:08:36

uh, aggregators that show you a bunch of different little

1:08:38

survival techniques and so on like that. But thank you

1:08:41

for sharing that some stuff I had never thought of

1:08:43

really. We'll take a break. Come back in a second.

1:08:45

1:09:45

That's me. The I hate Steven Singer guy. Why

1:09:47

do other jewelers hate me? I'm a nice guy

1:09:49

because other jewelers just want to throw up when

1:09:51

you ask, can I trade in my old diamond

1:09:53

studs? Why? I guess it's because they're in the

1:09:56

business of selling. I'm in the love business. I

1:09:58

love to see my friends come back. trade

1:10:00

back with more of the Preston and

Steve Show Podcast. Come

1:10:51

on, man. We're

1:10:55

about ready to go live on a posca day

1:10:57

in about 30 seconds or so. So

1:10:59

I tell you what, we'll hang on. You

1:11:02

were very open. Come on, man. I

1:11:04

was sitting here, I had the

1:11:06

microphones on, the music didn't turn.

1:11:09

I'm like, come on, man. Where's that music at, man? I

1:11:12

love that thing. So

1:11:14

we'll hold on to traffic cap. We'll get

1:11:16

to that in a moment. We've got a

1:11:18

posca day in about five seconds. Here we

1:11:21

go. Okay, Preston, Steve and

1:11:23

all your listeners and our viewers. Here's

1:11:25

a question. Well, I want to tell you about this woman.

1:11:27

She's 24 years old. She was on a

1:11:29

dating app and the guy said that he was 28, right? Okay.

1:11:34

They met for the date. And

1:11:36

she realized when he sat down and he admitted, uh

1:11:39

oh, I'm 42 years old. Oh,

1:11:42

come on. Got up and left.

1:11:44

Yeah. Didn't she do the right thing?

1:11:46

Absolutely. Are you kidding me? I agree.

1:11:51

Because he lied to her. He

1:11:53

started out their arrangement, their potential relationship

1:11:55

with a lie. Not a little lie.

1:11:58

A big lie. It's

1:12:00

a big lie. So you're out of there,

1:12:02

forget it. Has that

1:12:04

ever happened to you? I knew you... Yes,

1:12:06

I showed up a date and a guy showed up

1:12:08

and he was 71. And

1:12:10

I was... Now, I

1:12:12

have known people who have lied

1:12:15

about their age or they keep

1:12:17

it a hidden, you know, a very tight

1:12:19

kept secret. And I've never really

1:12:21

understood that myself, but a couple of years

1:12:23

maybe? If you're out there, if you're going

1:12:26

on a date and you're meeting with someone,

1:12:28

you've got to be up front right off

1:12:30

the bat. You just... You can't start up

1:12:32

the relationship. All right. Here's my

1:12:34

only caveat. Okay. See

1:12:36

if this is okay with you guys. Now the guy was

1:12:38

42, she was 24. So that's a

1:12:41

reciprocal number. If it happens to be a

1:12:43

reciprocal number, I think it'll do. Okay.

1:12:46

All right. All right.

1:12:48

Yeah. So if he's 89

1:12:50

and he's 98, yeah, it's fine. Yeah,

1:12:52

that's okay. 63, 36.

1:12:54

There you go. There you go. He's

1:12:57

done that. He's done that. He's totally done it.

1:13:00

My husband lied when I met... The night I met

1:13:02

him, so it wasn't a date. We were meeting for

1:13:04

the first time. Okay. He said

1:13:06

he was 38. And he was... And then

1:13:08

when we went to a different bar and they carded

1:13:11

him and he like hedged in a weird way and

1:13:13

it's like, why would a normal human hedge when you're

1:13:15

38? It's because he was 42. Okay.

1:13:18

It's not that bad. If he pulls

1:13:20

out his ID and it's on parchment

1:13:22

paper, then... He takes out a squirrel.

1:13:24

Yeah, yeah. As bequeathed by...

1:13:27

Yeah, I think it's the wrong... Everyone

1:13:31

fudges a little bit, but it's wrong to set

1:13:33

it... That's pretty big, that

1:13:35

age difference. Yeah. Now, I used

1:13:38

to fib about it until

1:13:40

Wikipedia happened. And then I tried

1:13:42

to... Doctor Wikipedia. I would edit

1:13:44

Wikipedia. You would edit your own

1:13:47

page, Mike. Well,

1:13:49

my son-in-law, Russ, he would do it

1:13:51

for me anonymously. And

1:13:53

then Wikipedia caught us and

1:13:56

we can't do it anymore. Well, Wikipedia

1:13:58

has tons of... inaccurate information.

1:14:01

Have at it. Yeah. That

1:14:03

must be wrong. That's how

1:14:05

I'm listed as a blues

1:14:07

singer. I just change

1:14:09

it. So, Kathy,

1:14:11

do you want to say something? Has this ever happened to

1:14:14

you? No, it hasn't happened to me. I ruined

1:14:16

it for somebody. My cousin used to lie about

1:14:18

his age by like 15 years.

1:14:20

He looks way younger than he is. And one

1:14:22

night we were out and I was like, we

1:14:24

need a date for my 45 year old cousin.

1:14:27

And this girl that he had been hooking up

1:14:29

with was like, I thought that you

1:14:31

were 32. That for me, I was

1:14:33

like, so

1:14:36

sorry. Wow. God. Okay.

1:14:39

I'm jealous of you guys and everybody on

1:14:41

the crew there because you're heading southbound. Yeah.

1:14:43

We're leaving right after the show today. I

1:14:45

headed to Clearwater for Philly spring training, doing

1:14:47

a couple of shows out there and it's

1:14:49

like 85 degrees. Mike, it's going to

1:14:51

be beautiful here. So we're, you don't even have the

1:14:53

ability to hang. That's

1:14:56

true. They're going to be close to 80

1:14:58

here. Yeah. Well, have fun down there. All

1:15:00

right. Thank you guys. Take care. Mike and Karen

1:15:02

Fox 29 are good friends checking in with us

1:15:04

this morning. All right. We skipped over. So let's

1:15:06

go ahead and take a look at traffic now

1:15:09

and see what we are dealing with on the

1:15:11

way in path. What you got for us? Not

1:15:13

looking too bad this morning. We do have an

1:15:15

accident. 95 northbound at bridge street is jammed back

1:15:17

to the Vexy Ross bridge. The vine westbound that's

1:15:20

jam the lane. So cool. Westbound heavy from

1:15:22

passion to the vine. North on

1:15:24

95 the vine expressway and accident in

1:15:26

the right lane. 422 eastbound at trooper accident

1:15:28

off to the shoulder. 42 North plus 41 to 55.

1:15:33

This traffic report brought to you by

1:15:35

pearls, California grown black, ripe, olives that

1:15:37

have nothing but sea salt and

1:15:40

water. No artificial colors or

1:15:42

preservatives for quality you can trust. Look

1:15:44

for these sunny yellow can at your local grocery store

1:15:46

and that's your traffic on 93 three w

1:15:48

m m r couple of quick, uh, shard

1:15:51

outs before we continue on with the B

1:15:53

file. I got this, uh, email from Jack

1:15:55

McGinty and he says, Hey guys, he wanted,

1:15:57

he wanted to do a shard out for

1:16:00

Our buddy Ryan from the

1:16:02

band sidearm. Yes, Ryan

1:16:04

is no longer beside armies left But he

1:16:06

is now playing in what he says a

1:16:08

top-notch You to tribute

1:16:11

band called mysterious ways. I

1:16:13

said the band is at the Atlantis theater

1:16:15

in Vineland When

1:16:18

is this? I don't

1:16:20

know. It doesn't say Just hang

1:16:22

out But it said he said and

1:16:24

the st Paul the sixth high school

1:16:26

choir from Haddonfield will be joining the

1:16:28

band for a few tunes And I

1:16:31

love it if you could give the band a

1:16:33

shard out incredible musicians and even better people so

1:16:35

a quick shard if you would please It's

1:16:38

this Saturday. There we go So

1:16:41

that's cool. And we got word that we

1:16:43

got to go ahead from Chuck that sidearm

1:16:45

is confirmed I love it. Those guys have

1:16:47

to be there. MM BBQ for the Preston

1:16:50

and Steve show side stage and Live

1:16:52

band karaoke. So we'll get the details and how you

1:16:54

can sign up for that down the road I'd say

1:16:56

just become now the thing. Yeah, I love it And

1:16:58

then I have a follow-up to her shard

1:17:01

out. Do you remember I had a shard

1:17:03

out the other day? Yes often this guy

1:17:05

named Andy Duffy Who had

1:17:07

wish his son the best because he had

1:17:09

done all this great stuff in track and

1:17:11

field and He left his son's

1:17:13

name out of it. Ah Remember I was like,

1:17:15

yeah Who's Andy? Ryan

1:17:19

Duffy I wanted

1:17:21

to make good on that but he said that

1:17:23

they've listened to they they listened to the Recording

1:17:25

of it over and over when we for now

1:17:28

they can listen to this. Yeah Congratulations

1:17:30

to you, bud. Can I give a short up? There's

1:17:32

a really nice lady Her name is Holly schmutz, which

1:17:34

is kind of a funny last name, but that is

1:17:36

her last name We were talking a week or two

1:17:39

ago about Julia Roberts movies that have cancer Yeah And

1:17:41

there are a lot of them when we got

1:17:44

a really touching text from a woman who's been

1:17:46

going through cancer five separate times And

1:17:48

that's Holly and there is a there's a

1:17:50

way that you can contribute to her Campaign

1:17:54

1:17:56

1:18:00

is up on the community page at www.presidentsteeve.com.

1:18:03

She's been battling five different types

1:18:05

of cancer, five separate types. Five

1:18:07

different types of cancer? Yeah. And so she's

1:18:09

in and out of chemo all the time.

1:18:12

She listens to our show nonstop. It helps

1:18:14

her get through it. And the text that

1:18:16

she sent was really, really touching. So go

1:18:18

to the community page www.presidentsteeve.com. Look for Holly's

1:18:20

information. And you can make a donation on

1:18:23

www.beethematch.org. Okay. Holly

1:18:25

Schmutz. Holly, good luck with everything. Hopefully

1:18:27

somebody can do something for you. That'd

1:18:29

be wonderful. And I want to do one

1:18:31

really quickly. I have to thank Philly Mag weddings.

1:18:33

Guys, my wedding is featured in the magazine

1:18:35

right now. Right now? That's

1:18:37

a little after the fact, but that's cool. Yeah,

1:18:39

that's kind of how wedding magazines happen.

1:18:42

Maybe. Yeah, I guess you're right. They

1:18:44

come out quarterly, like instantly. Sure. But

1:18:46

it's right on the front page of phillymag.com right now. So there's

1:18:48

some photos. On the front page?

1:18:50

On the front of their website. Awesome.

1:18:52

I want to see that. And then the

1:18:54

Philly magazine, they're around, they're like free magazines

1:18:56

sometimes. And we're on the back page again.

1:18:59

So there's some photos up there. And guys, it's almost

1:19:01

been a year. I know. Amazing. Wow.

1:19:05

So thank you to Taylor for writing that article. Excellent. All right.

1:19:08

We have bizarre final stories. We're going to

1:19:10

share them with you now. Now, WMMR presents.

1:19:13

Bizarre. Bizarre. Bizarre. Bizarre.

1:19:15

Bizarre. Bizarre. Bizarre.

1:19:18

Bizarre. Bizarre. Bizarre.

1:19:21

Bizarre. Bizarre. Bizarre.

1:19:24

Bizarre. Bizarre. Bizarre.

1:19:27

Bizarre. Live on Twitter nationally.

1:19:29

WMMR WE Austen I get it. We're

1:19:33

confident it won't be long against its only successful situation.

1:20:00

I would really like it. Did you? Yeah.

1:20:03

Oh my God, dude, I wanted to live

1:20:05

in the mall. If I could, I fantasize

1:20:07

about what it would be like when everything

1:20:09

was closed, when it ended all to myself.

1:20:11

It would have been awesome. I still think

1:20:14

you could put me in a Target for

1:20:16

24 hours and I would be like sleeping.

1:20:19

I could sit there. I'd get air mattresses. You

1:20:21

could sit there for a week. Yeah.

1:20:24

Easily. We could try that. I'd have

1:20:26

to go and live in a Target without being

1:20:28

noticed. There

1:20:31

were no reports that the boy was

1:20:33

harmed. Staff at the store immediately contacted

1:20:35

law enforcement upon arriving and finding the

1:20:38

child and cared for him until authorities

1:20:40

arrived. Responding officer's

1:20:42

search area, which included a number of

1:20:44

retailers for the boy's parents unsuccessfully before handing

1:20:46

him off to Children's Services and he was

1:20:48

reunited with his parents. But he got to

1:20:50

spend the night in Target. Two

1:20:53

Georgia men are accused of setting

1:20:55

off a bomb at a

1:20:58

woman's home and plotting to release

1:21:00

a python to eat her daughter.

1:21:03

Setting off a bomb first and then releasing

1:21:05

a python to eat the daughter. Listen, this

1:21:07

is... Why would... Couldn't they just use

1:21:09

the bomb on the daughter too? This is insanely disturbing. Okay.

1:21:12

Authorities say 34 year old

1:21:15

Caleb Kinsey and 37 year old Steven

1:21:17

Glosser. Here's what we're going to do.

1:21:19

Yeah. It's kind of like

1:21:21

that. They

1:21:25

conspired to harass, intimidate, injure or kill

1:21:27

the woman who owned the house. Glosser

1:21:29

and the victim allegedly met on a

1:21:31

dating app, but their relationship eventually went south.

1:21:33

So they decided to block each other

1:21:35

and that's when the other guy Kinsey

1:21:37

got involved. The men allegedly planned to

1:21:40

shoot arrows into the victim's front

1:21:42

door, mail her dog feces

1:21:44

or dead rats, scalp her

1:21:47

head, blow up the

1:21:49

home and release a large python to eat

1:21:51

her daughter. But you need to understand they

1:21:53

weren't compatible. Glosser found the

1:21:55

victim's home and built an explosive device

1:21:57

along with Kinsey using Tanner. The two

1:22:00

then used the device to blow up

1:22:02

the woman's house. Boy, you must really

1:22:04

like me. Hey, yeah, it totally changed

1:22:06

your mind. Oh my God. I'm blushing.

1:22:09

I didn't know that. I had a

1:22:11

riot. A witness told investigators

1:22:13

that they saw a black SUV leaving the scene,

1:22:15

which was determined to be Kenzie's car. My boyfriend

1:22:18

was going to shoot arrows into my house and

1:22:20

send dead rats and blow up my house and

1:22:22

just do these horrible things because he loves me

1:22:24

so much. Police served a

1:22:26

search warrant on Kenzie in Gloucester's home and

1:22:28

their phone's authorities found evidence of the

1:22:31

explosives and Gloucester's journal, which had all the

1:22:33

stuff in there about scalping and the snake

1:22:35

and all that. Guys get crazy. They

1:22:37

have been indicted on a slew of charges, as you would imagine.

1:22:39

Well, he showed up at the date and it was 45. That's

1:22:43

right. Yeah. This

1:22:45

is interesting. The new Kobe Bryant

1:22:47

statue outside of crypto.com arena in

1:22:49

Los Angeles will reportedly be getting

1:22:51

an update after multiple spelling mistakes

1:22:54

were found. I just don't understand

1:22:56

how they're just finding this out.

1:22:58

Isn't anyone do a last check

1:23:01

before they committed to completion? This

1:23:03

was the ECHING. This is the

1:23:05

ECHING that was done around the

1:23:07

base of the sculpture. On Sunday,

1:23:10

basketball reporter Dre Voigt posted pictures

1:23:12

of spelling errors that he found

1:23:14

on the statue. The mistakes included

1:23:17

Raptors guard Jose Calderon's name spelled

1:23:19

Calderson, Lakers guard, Von

1:23:22

Woffers first name is written

1:23:24

as VOM, V-O-M, and an

1:23:27

erroneous coaches decision spelled

1:23:30

D-E-C-I-C-I-O-N

1:23:34

was on there as well. The Lakers said

1:23:36

on Monday that they are planning to correct

1:23:38

the mistake. He is still a Basket Bill

1:23:40

legend. They said we have been aware of

1:23:42

this for a few weeks and are already

1:23:44

working to get it corrected soon. The statue

1:23:46

is the first of three planned tributes to

1:23:48

the five time champion. The statue game has

1:23:50

not been good in this country for a

1:23:52

while. A man

1:23:54

was stabbed with a can

1:23:57

opener downtown Baltimore on Tuesday.

1:24:00

Officers were patrolling when they were flagged down

1:24:02

by a bystander who said a man was being

1:24:04

assaulted. When officers arrived they found a 57 year

1:24:06

old man stabbing a 49 year old man on

1:24:08

the top

1:24:10

of his head. We assume it was a regular

1:24:12

can opener and not an electric. Officers

1:24:15

apprehended the suspect and he is currently

1:24:17

in police custody. The victim suffered minor

1:24:19

non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to

1:24:22

a hospital to receive treatment for his

1:24:24

injuries. You can do some damage with

1:24:26

a can opener. Preliminary investigation revealed that

1:24:28

the victim was waiting at a bus stop when

1:24:30

the suspect bumped into

1:24:33

the victim. A verbal

1:24:35

altercation started resulting in the suspect repeatedly stabbing

1:24:37

the victim with a can opener. I found

1:24:39

it interesting that he did it to his

1:24:41

head because that's where he was saying the

1:24:44

can opener. Yeah, at least he saw a protocol. Yeah. Did

1:24:47

you love using the old style can openers? Oh yeah, I

1:24:49

still do. Yeah, yeah. We don't have

1:24:51

an electric can opener. Do you use an electric can

1:24:54

opener? I don't use any can opener. But

1:24:57

I do like there's something satisfying. It was

1:24:59

just your piercing. It was almost

1:25:01

sort of sexual. Yeah, yeah. Pedestration. Make

1:25:04

that and hear a little noise and then a queef

1:25:06

like a canqueef. You

1:25:10

get it. All right. One

1:25:12

last story and then we will move

1:25:14

along. A Florida woman is facing burglary

1:25:16

and battery charges after she broke into

1:25:19

her ex-boyfriend's home and threw Sprite at

1:25:21

him and pickled pork juice on his

1:25:23

sofa. She's the guy she should

1:25:25

meet. The guy who

1:25:27

tried to blow up the out of the house. I think they're men for

1:25:30

each other. A deputy responded to a

1:25:32

home after a resident said someone broke

1:25:34

into his home and when officers arrived

1:25:36

they said the woman identified as Akavia

1:25:38

Redick who was 22 holding a bottle

1:25:41

of Sprite outside of the home when she then

1:25:43

flung it at the victim. I identified as her

1:25:45

boyfriend and hit him. Redick began

1:25:47

shouting at the victim and continuously

1:25:49

mentioned wanting to fight him. I

1:25:51

want to fight him. As

1:25:53

the deputy tried to separate the pair before authorities arrived

1:25:55

the man claimed that Redick texted him that she was

1:25:57

coming over despite him not being home at the time

1:26:00

doorbell camera caught her taking a spare key under

1:26:02

the doormat and entering the home. The woman then

1:26:04

threw and broke items around the home. Videos

1:26:07

showed the victim arrived at the

1:26:09

residence and confront Reddick. She began

1:26:11

shouting at him throwing pickled pork

1:26:13

and the juices of the pickled

1:26:15

pork onto a sofa damaging the

1:26:17

couch. A shattered glass

1:26:19

item was also seen near the washing

1:26:21

machine. However, the victim couldn't tell what

1:26:24

the item was. She

1:26:26

was arrested for battery and property

1:26:28

damage. When

1:26:30

I was a kid, and you guys will find

1:26:32

this repulsive, but I lived in the south for

1:26:35

a while. My family is from

1:26:37

the south. So they eat weird stuff in

1:26:39

the southern states. And so I was a

1:26:41

fervent eater of pickled

1:26:44

pigs feet. You love the pigs feet. I

1:26:46

love them. The idea of eating

1:26:48

that now makes me gag a little

1:26:50

bit. And so

1:26:53

this woman is throwing pickled pork around. It's

1:26:55

essentially probably what it was. It

1:26:58

smells so bad. You

1:27:01

guys would just, Kathy, you would vomit in

1:27:03

a moment. I remember

1:27:06

I used to be fascinated in the grocery

1:27:08

store when you'd pass that stuff. Oh, they're

1:27:10

really like, wow. You see all the bones

1:27:12

and gristle and people eat that? Yeah, I

1:27:15

know. I used to devour them as a

1:27:17

kid. Wow. Is it anything

1:27:19

like chicken wings, like with bones? Kind

1:27:21

of. Okay. Kind of like

1:27:23

that. Only much worse. I mean, chicken wings

1:27:26

are great. But yeah, it was just, I

1:27:28

can't believe I used to eat that. I mean, I really

1:27:30

loved them. So you guys know me. I'll

1:27:32

try almost anything. That big, big, big, big

1:27:34

speed. I think I'm out. All right. Let's

1:27:37

take a break and come back. Uh, roughly, well, less

1:27:39

than an hour from now, we're going to have judge

1:27:42

Reinhold on. We're going to talk to him about fast

1:27:44

times at Richmond high because there's a screening at the

1:27:46

Kesswick theater on Saturday. He will be there for it.

1:27:48

We'll be back in a moment. Stay with us. I'll

1:28:00

seize them up tomorrow night. I'll fire

1:28:03

a ghostly storm. I'll be a 100-year-old!

1:28:06

We'll be world-carrying. All the

1:28:08

heads, all the gold, I'll

1:28:10

seize them up. Philadelphia

1:28:13

Flyers hockey, start of everything

1:28:15

to rock. A neti-3-3-WM-MR. A

1:28:18

little ditzy-doo! I

1:28:21

like how you say organic asparagus. Organic asparagus. So...

1:28:26

I saw this. I saw

1:28:28

this stupid article, but

1:28:31

it's interesting in its stupidity. This

1:28:35

was, I forgot, this is up from a Reddit

1:28:37

thread, and they were... They

1:28:41

had seen, the person that wrote this had seen an article

1:28:43

about asbestos, and it got

1:28:45

them wondering for some

1:28:47

reason, and they did a little

1:28:49

research and did an interview with

1:28:51

a ear, nose, and throat doctor

1:28:55

about things that end

1:28:57

up in your lungs via your

1:28:59

nose. And so,

1:29:02

they asked, what would it be like to

1:29:05

this ENT doctor if

1:29:08

people were to snort everyday substances? So,

1:29:12

clearly somebody was anticipating how they're

1:29:14

going to spend the weekend. And

1:29:17

so if you were to snort various things, because,

1:29:19

for example, it's a good thing, actually,

1:29:22

in movies, they'll fake snorting

1:29:24

cocaine, and I forget

1:29:26

exactly what they use, but it's not...

1:29:28

Well, that stuff goes into your lungs.

1:29:30

I mean, you breathe that through your

1:29:32

nose. It's headed to your lungs. When

1:29:35

you snort cocaine, or whatever drug, that's

1:29:37

where it goes, and you get an immediate

1:29:39

effect. It goes right into your cysts. That's

1:29:42

why they snorted. Do we know,

1:29:44

Nick, can you see what they use as a substitute

1:29:46

for cocaine in movies? Yeah, I will. And

1:29:49

the thing I was going to bring up in conjunction with that, Steve, was

1:29:51

that Daveon Randolph? Was that her name, the one

1:29:53

in the Academy Awards? Yes, yeah, yeah. They were

1:29:55

saying that she... The holdovers. For the holdovers. She

1:29:58

didn't like smoking the fake cigarette for her. provided

1:30:00

for her so she learned

1:30:02

how to smoke real cigarettes. Oh, that's

1:30:04

not a good idea. She

1:30:07

couldn't for something about the smoker

1:30:09

was just to repellent to her so she

1:30:11

had to because it was

1:30:13

required that she be a smoker for the

1:30:16

movie. Yeah, she started smoking regular. I

1:30:18

mean, we were kids we snorted pixie sticks,

1:30:20

things like that. I mean, you saw

1:30:22

the movie. Listen, my friend and I,

1:30:24

Ben and I would just as for whatever

1:30:27

reason we would shoot, do you guys know

1:30:29

what Banaka is? Yeah, Banaka, the problem was

1:30:31

we would shoot that up our nose and

1:30:34

Kathy, it would hurt so bad. Why would

1:30:36

you do that? But it cracked us up.

1:30:38

It was stupid and we would laugh at

1:30:40

the other's pain and the one in pain

1:30:42

would just be going ahhh and we would

1:30:44

find that funny too. That's almost like one

1:30:46

of the ammonia capsules, you know, when you,

1:30:48

when you, yeah, plus he sort of rushed

1:30:51

with some force. Way up, yeah. So you

1:30:53

would literally snort pixie

1:30:55

sticks. Yeah, I mean, we felt

1:30:57

people snorting coke in movies and pixie sticks.

1:31:00

It was like candy cigarettes, right? We're just

1:31:02

like, all right, let's try it out. So

1:31:04

Steven in movies, the fake cocaine

1:31:06

is something called Inosodal or Inosodal,

1:31:08

I'm not quite sure what

1:31:11

it is, or I mean how it's pronounced, but it's a

1:31:13

vitamin B powder. Okay. It actually gives you

1:31:15

a slight energy lift. All right. A little less

1:31:17

than what coke would do. Marissa, do you

1:31:19

remember the sensation of snorting pixie sticks and

1:31:21

what that felt like? I

1:31:24

feel like we probably, no, yes. I

1:31:29

mean, it was definitely an instant sugar rush. Yeah,

1:31:31

it didn't hurt or anything like that. I think

1:31:33

it like, I mean, it didn't tickle. It was

1:31:35

just up there and you probably like the first

1:31:37

time you just snorted a little bit. Do you

1:31:39

think you were convincing yourself that you were getting

1:31:42

a sugar rush? One hundred

1:31:44

percent. Okay. You were

1:31:46

also teens. You already have that adrenaline

1:31:48

going already. So the doctor's

1:31:51

name is Florian Bast. And

1:31:54

so these are the

1:31:56

materials that they had to add.

1:32:00

them what would happen. So they started

1:32:02

with asbestos. Asbestos is a carcinogenic. Carcinogenic

1:32:05

properties is more that when

1:32:07

asbestos fibers get into the

1:32:10

lungs, then you can potentially

1:32:12

develop asbestos asbestosis or

1:32:14

you can have, you can develop lung

1:32:17

cancer or mesothelioma, which is a type of

1:32:19

cancer as well. When you snort pure asbestos

1:32:22

in a high concentration, you can potentially

1:32:24

speed up the process, but the process

1:32:26

to develop any side effects of inhaled

1:32:28

asbestos is normally quite slow. So

1:32:31

directly snorting asbestosis can

1:32:35

potentially increase the risk of getting lung

1:32:37

cancer, but to predict an exact timeline

1:32:39

or predict when death kicks in is

1:32:41

not possible. So the recommendation is to

1:32:43

do it in moderation. Is

1:32:46

to not do it at all,

1:32:48

but it's potentially survivable. Okay. The

1:32:50

doctor said it's potentially

1:32:53

survivable. You can inhale a significantly higher

1:32:55

amount orally than snorting it because

1:32:58

the nose is a filter organism.

1:33:00

I can't tell you exactly how much

1:33:02

you would get from an inhaled line

1:33:04

of asbestos or how much exactly would

1:33:07

reach the lungs where it could damage the

1:33:09

respiratory epithelium and could potentially lead to lung

1:33:11

cancer. It's a difficult question. Do you remember

1:33:13

the cinnamon challenge? Yes. Yes.

1:33:15

That's a similar thing. I never tried

1:33:18

it because that's dangerous for your lung.

1:33:20

It could be dangerous. And in fact,

1:33:22

I think someone got severely injured. Yes.

1:33:25

Because there's some... The

1:33:28

medicine cinnamon. No, what do they call it when

1:33:30

you get something in your lungs? It's not

1:33:32

asphyxiation. It's a man. My mom

1:33:35

was doing this. She had to be

1:33:37

intubated because it was causing, and I

1:33:40

can't think of the term. Anyway,

1:33:44

your lungs can handle liquid...

1:33:47

Aspiration? Aspiration. Thank you. I had

1:33:49

to look it up. It can

1:33:52

handle some liquids, but when

1:33:54

solids get in there, that's when

1:33:56

things like ammonia can become really,

1:33:59

really bad. Absolutely. So I was a

1:34:01

pretty stupid 21 year old college student one point in

1:34:03

my life and we were in a

1:34:05

fraternity and Steve one day we thought it'd be

1:34:07

fun to start daring each other to snort things.

1:34:10

And the thing that I got dared to snort

1:34:12

was cayenne red pepper. Oh my

1:34:14

god! You drew the short straw! That,

1:34:17

no, I was the short straw. I was

1:34:19

the moron that said sure, I'll do that.

1:34:21

Oh my god, Nick? It

1:34:24

was one of the most painful

1:34:26

experiences of my life. It was so moronic but everybody

1:34:28

was, you know, several beers in and it was thought

1:34:30

to be funny at the time. And it was funny

1:34:32

to everybody else. But you? Not to

1:34:34

me. Yeah. You remember one

1:34:36

of the jackass movies? Yes. Steveo snorted

1:34:38

wasabi. Wasabi? Oh my god, that's

1:34:40

right. It was... God. Oh

1:34:43

my god. And he's puking and stuff. Not only

1:34:45

is it coming out of his mouth, it's coming out of his

1:34:47

nose, it was horrible. He's talked... all

1:34:49

the stuff that he's done, he's talked about

1:34:51

that as being one of the absolute worst.

1:34:53

I mean, he's stapled his nutsack. So

1:34:56

they asked about snorting salt. Salt

1:34:59

is not a hazardous substance like

1:35:01

asbestos. If you snort it,

1:35:03

you definitely don't die, but you can

1:35:06

have significant discomfort in the nasal passage,

1:35:08

including nasal bleeding and pain. I didn't

1:35:10

get it. It can irritate the cartilage

1:35:13

and potentially lead to slightly longer infections

1:35:15

in the nasal cavity, but just inhaling

1:35:17

salt is not causing bleeding to death.

1:35:20

Definitely not. What are some of the other

1:35:22

drugs that are commonly snorted? Like

1:35:25

people's heroin. Heroines get snorted. Adderall. Adderall.

1:35:27

Right? Adderall is a big snorting drug.

1:35:29

I was at a party one time

1:35:31

and people were cutting up Adderall

1:35:33

to snort it and I thought that they were

1:35:35

doing coke. I had no idea that they were

1:35:37

actually doing Adderall. So you get like an explosive

1:35:39

rush with that? No.

1:35:43

Your attention is fixed for as much.

1:35:46

It's a quicker way to ingest Adderall.

1:35:49

The scene in Pulp Fiction where she

1:35:51

snorts the heroin, she thinks it's cocaine.

1:35:54

And so it's very high concentration and

1:35:56

she does more of it than you ever

1:35:59

should. That's a tough scene to watch.

1:36:01

Yeah, absolutely. Let's see if we've been talking

1:36:03

recently about misdiagnosis or not diagnosing

1:36:05

kids. When people were snorting Adderall in

1:36:07

college, I snorted it and I was like, oh, maybe,

1:36:09

maybe I have ADD. Like

1:36:12

maybe I should just be on Adderall. Like, yeah,

1:36:14

you know, everyone's doing it to like stay up

1:36:17

late and all. And I'm like, oh, I'm working

1:36:19

very much, very better. Okay. Very better.

1:36:21

Very, very better. And it really helps with

1:36:23

my grammar. It

1:36:26

is very good at school. I just helped. This

1:36:29

could make me gooder in English. They

1:36:32

asked about sugar and what that would

1:36:34

do. Same thing as salt. He said,

1:36:36

again, it can potentially cause local infections,

1:36:39

nasal discomfort, bleeding, breathing difficulties, et

1:36:41

cetera, but that's it. And

1:36:43

by the way, you know, you had

1:36:45

mentioned getting an infection, a nasal infection,

1:36:48

and that can turn really bad. We've talked about the

1:36:51

triangle of death. Yeah, yeah. Right around your

1:36:53

mouth and nose. And you can, you can

1:36:55

die from something. Pears going through a pierce?

1:37:00

He had to go to the emergency room because it was so

1:37:02

bad. Yeah. There was a,

1:37:04

I don't think he's snorting anything. Yeah,

1:37:06

he's snorting at all. I think the

1:37:08

plastic surgery show, they have body botched,

1:37:10

I think it is. Yeah. There's

1:37:13

some guy who had been doing that excessive

1:37:15

snorting of something. And Preston

1:37:17

basically, his nose had been,

1:37:19

it had been Michael Jackson

1:37:21

down to, it looked like he had a

1:37:23

navel instead of a nose. And so they

1:37:25

were trying to rebuild it. Is it true

1:37:27

that like it will separate your septum if

1:37:29

you do it for far too long? Yeah,

1:37:31

that's my understanding. Your nasal passages just become

1:37:33

these, the K's for lack of a better

1:37:35

term. Man, you should see some

1:37:37

of the texts coming in. This is, we

1:37:40

would crush and snort, vivrin.

1:37:42

Vibrin, revive with vivrin. Yeah,

1:37:44

yeah. Which was a, like

1:37:46

a caffeine thing essentially. Somebody

1:37:50

said, snorting at

1:37:52

all is called doing Diet Coke.

1:37:54

Yeah. All right. What's

1:37:57

snuff? Is it just tobacco? Yeah. If

1:38:00

you snort that though, right? You would

1:38:02

chew the tobacco? Yeah, from what I understand,

1:38:04

and it would give you a bit of

1:38:06

a buzz, like a tangle, like a

1:38:09

sharp, I

1:38:11

guess, burning sensation in your nose that kind of

1:38:14

gets all fired up like that. Tobacco,

1:38:17

here you go. The type of smokeless

1:38:19

tobacco that is made from finely ground

1:38:21

or shredded tobacco leaves may

1:38:23

have different scents and flavors and may be

1:38:26

moist or dry. Snub tobacco

1:38:28

is placed in the mouth, usually between

1:38:30

the cheek and gum behind the upper

1:38:32

or lower lip. Dry snub tobacco is

1:38:34

inhaled through the nose. It may cause

1:38:36

chronic pumposity. Yeah, right. Yes, sir. Yeah.

1:38:38

It looks on the laser on. Next

1:38:42

is flour. The

1:38:44

guy writes, yeah, so the son of a friend of mine

1:38:46

in Germany for Halloween went as

1:38:48

a part of the couple from Pulp Fiction.

1:38:51

They snorted flour, pretending it was cocaine,

1:38:53

and they got nasal infections. Yeah, and

1:38:55

the flour can do that because it

1:38:57

dries out the nose and then you've

1:38:59

got this crusty stuff in the nose,

1:39:01

and that can lead to an infection.

1:39:04

If you inhale huge amounts and

1:39:06

flour reaches the lungs, you can't

1:39:09

potentially develop a condition called aspiration

1:39:11

pneumonia, but you have to inhale

1:39:13

large amounts of the stuff to reach the lungs.

1:39:15

So the son of my friend, he just

1:39:18

had local problems and he just used

1:39:20

a saline wash and everything was fine

1:39:22

after that. Don't do it. I mean,

1:39:24

it's crazy though that people do. So

1:39:27

occasionally when I use the Neomed, the nasal

1:39:29

rinse, and I have not

1:39:31

mixed it properly, I'll get a blast

1:39:33

of that up my nose. And

1:39:36

wow, it'll lift your skull

1:39:38

off. By the

1:39:41

way, people are pointing out in the text messages,

1:39:43

Steve, Artie Lang. Artie Lang, yeah,

1:39:45

absolutely. Because it looks like he lost a

1:39:47

lot of cartilage. He has no cartilage. His

1:39:49

nose is what it looks like. It's flattened

1:39:51

out. A boxer has

1:39:53

been punched a thousand times like who knows. Somebody

1:39:57

else had mentioned... Hopwood

1:40:00

pricks. Watch buddies in high

1:40:02

school snort ramen flavored powder.

1:40:05

Ramen powder. So

1:40:08

you're not tasting that when you snort

1:40:10

it, right? No, some of them you're

1:40:12

worried about. It goes through your mouth

1:40:15

as well. Not a lot though, right?

1:40:17

Enough to get a flavor. Alright. Let's

1:40:19

try it after the show. I'm going to

1:40:22

try your pepper thing. Yeah. But yeah,

1:40:24

not snorting anything is probably a good

1:40:26

idea. Now I know this is what

1:40:28

I remember. It's a pozatory. No, the

1:40:30

most disgusting thing that ever ended up at

1:40:32

my nose. Which was? A

1:40:34

cat diarrhea. Oh yeah. Right. You

1:40:36

didn't snort it though. No, no.

1:40:38

You were freebasing. I still

1:40:40

have PTSD from that. And

1:40:46

I'll retell the story here. You have to. Because

1:40:48

my cat bumper was

1:40:51

some very affectionate cats that we'd always run

1:40:53

up against you. And I'm petting him. And

1:40:57

I didn't notice this. I didn't

1:40:59

realize it. But he had, as

1:41:01

when they have diarrhea, ended up

1:41:03

with some crap on his fur.

1:41:06

And I guess I had gotten it on my

1:41:08

fingers. I didn't feel it at all as I

1:41:10

was petting him. And I

1:41:12

just happened to be kind of scratching the inside

1:41:15

of my nose. And

1:41:17

the diarrhea went in my nose. Oh. It

1:41:20

was. Oh god. Oh god. I could. I

1:41:23

got to be saying I could smell it. I

1:41:25

could feel it. It was gritty. That

1:41:27

means it's working. Oh my god. I told you

1:41:29

guys I ran to the sink. And I don't

1:41:31

know what to do. How do I get this?

1:41:33

How do I get this feces out of my

1:41:35

nose? And so I'm

1:41:38

taking water. And I'm putting it in my hand. I'm

1:41:40

splashing. I'm throwing it up into my nose. And I'm

1:41:43

doing the farmer blow thing. It's not rocking. Yeah. It's so dark.

1:41:45

Trying to get out. And there's still more in there. And I'm

1:41:47

like, how am I going to get this out? And

1:41:50

I actually snorted a little

1:41:52

bit of water on purpose, going to go

1:41:54

upward. So you took it in. And that

1:41:56

was really stupid. Right. That's the opposite of

1:41:58

what you want to have. You had a poop

1:42:00

shake. Oh my God, it's horrible. Oh my God,

1:42:02

horrible. What do you do? What I would

1:42:05

do is I would feed my face into

1:42:07

the garbage. I mean, it's really why you

1:42:09

have nose hairs because it's supposed to filter

1:42:11

out the crap that you breathe in. I

1:42:18

want to ask questions, but I also wanted to move past your

1:42:20

story. If you

1:42:22

could do some sort of coffee table book based on this,

1:42:24

I'd like to read it. To

1:42:27

that point, Nick, again, the Neomit since

1:42:29

I've been using this nasal flush, everyone

1:42:33

picks up their nose now and then. I

1:42:35

virtually never do that. I've had a cut

1:42:37

on the inside of my left nostril for

1:42:39

like a week and a half, and it

1:42:41

won't heal properly. I can't wait to get

1:42:43

to Florida just so there's some moisture. Yeah,

1:42:46

no, I hear you. I never

1:42:48

get that anymore. Because of the Neomit? Because

1:42:51

of the Neomit. I have the most moist

1:42:53

nose in the world. You could

1:42:55

wring it on out into a cup and

1:42:57

drink it. I hear somebody takes in an

1:42:59

accidentally smoked a mixture of marijuana and cayenne

1:43:01

pepperoni. Oh my God, I

1:43:03

can't imagine what that would be

1:43:05

like. I used to punk my

1:43:08

father in his cigarettes. I'd put

1:43:10

sugar. Most

1:43:13

of it would be sugar, but there'd be a little of the tobacco at the

1:43:15

end. Sugar

1:43:18

really doesn't burn, it sort of melts. But

1:43:21

after all those years, I was wondering, was that

1:43:23

actually, could that have been worse than

1:43:26

tobacco? Okay, I'm going to read

1:43:28

this. Somebody wrote,

1:43:30

I accidentally, go ahead,

1:43:35

I accidentally licked my baby's poop off my

1:43:37

finger. Oh my God. It

1:43:40

says, stupid story,

1:43:43

lifetime effect. You

1:43:48

relive your story, right?

1:43:50

So that it is something you

1:43:53

will never forget.

1:43:55

Wow. Okay,

1:43:58

let's go back to the snorting. Snorting

1:44:01

poop. So they asked this ear,

1:44:04

nose and throat doctor, what have you tried

1:44:06

to snort drywall? Oh my

1:44:08

God. Drywall or any other construction materials,

1:44:11

they have various other parts in it

1:44:13

like silica's and they can be harmful

1:44:15

to the skin. This stuff is normally

1:44:17

quite sharp edged, so when you inhale

1:44:19

it can lead to abrasive irritation of

1:44:22

the endonasal mucosa and this

1:44:24

can lead to bleeding and local

1:44:26

inflammation. What if you try to

1:44:29

snort the drywall or the person installing

1:44:31

it? So they're just throwing all kinds of weird

1:44:33

stuff out here to this guy just for fun

1:44:35

to see what he would say. Well, okay, so

1:44:37

Nick you'd mentioned the movie

1:44:40

cocaine, what they use, it's a vitamin B

1:44:42

or vitamin D or something like that. So,

1:44:45

but is there anything that

1:44:48

they would recommend that you do

1:44:50

snort? Is there something that's best

1:44:52

taken into your body by snorting?

1:44:55

I've never heard of anything that there is.

1:44:57

Good question. I wonder if there is a

1:44:59

legitimate medical recommendation

1:45:01

for some type of

1:45:03

medication for you to

1:45:05

take nasally. Right. Snorting.

1:45:09

Because obviously there are nasal sprays and there are

1:45:11

things that you might use, I don't know,

1:45:13

for long problems. Yeah,

1:45:16

like a little bit of sinus medicine

1:45:18

or whatever. Is

1:45:20

there something that is best and

1:45:23

medicine best delivered or anything by

1:45:25

snorting? This is not

1:45:27

necessarily snorting, but when my son was really

1:45:29

young, when he was a baby and a

1:45:31

toddler, he had asthmatic issues. And so he

1:45:33

would, we had to use this nebulizer with

1:45:36

albuterol and it mixes with water vapor. Right.

1:45:42

Where I put a bit of a hose underneath

1:45:44

his nose and by his mouth. So

1:45:46

it's for him to breathe in that way

1:45:48

and it's medic, you know, he's breathing in medicine.

1:45:50

To bring it into his lungs. Yeah, but it

1:45:52

was not just the nose, but I mean

1:45:54

that's medicine through the nose, right? Yeah. Yeah.

1:45:58

Hang on, why don't I go to Jim? Hi, Jim. Morning,

1:46:00

bud. Hey, what's up? Yeah,

1:46:02

bud. What's your story? Well,

1:46:05

I was at a party back in the day

1:46:07

and they, uh, one of

1:46:09

the things that the younger crew was doing

1:46:12

was you take a beer can, you tip

1:46:14

it upside down, you pour a shot in

1:46:16

the well of

1:46:18

it and then you snort it. Okay.

1:46:22

The bottom. All right. I gotcha.

1:46:24

This was a vodka ice tea and,

1:46:28

uh, it gives you a quite

1:46:30

a bit of a rush. It's called a chili. Willy.

1:46:33

A chili. Willy. So

1:46:35

you're snorting vodka. Yeah. So

1:46:37

you can pick any of your wickers,

1:46:39

but for whatever reason, I decided to

1:46:41

take vodka ice tea and it

1:46:44

was quite a little, it gave you

1:46:46

a little clear, little quick rush. How

1:46:48

many times do you think you did that? Well,

1:46:51

I did it once. That's all. All

1:46:54

right. I see the guys flip over in a chair

1:46:56

after doing one. Okay. I

1:46:59

got to try this. I got

1:47:01

to do that. I never, I never had,

1:47:03

I was never a kid who put things

1:47:05

up their nose. I never had a desire

1:47:07

to just ignore anything. A

1:47:09

number of people are texting

1:47:12

in Steve that, uh, Narcan

1:47:14

is best delivered. Namely. That's

1:47:16

right. Yeah. I

1:47:18

didn't know that. So, so you can give a, you can

1:47:20

give a shot of Narcan. Yeah. You

1:47:23

can give a shot of snorting. Right. Per se. It's

1:47:26

a spread. No, because they're unconscious. It's like a

1:47:28

spray. Okay. Are Narcan and naloxone the same thing

1:47:30

or are they related? Okay. Yep. They're

1:47:33

the same thing. All right. Come

1:47:37

on, man. Uh, so

1:47:39

he said, one of my colleagues suggested it

1:47:41

could potentially dry and set on contact with

1:47:43

moisture. And the doctor said, yeah, exactly. So

1:47:45

you could hold the inside of your lungs

1:47:47

with concrete. So if you have a lot

1:47:49

of stuff, it can potentially dry out, uh,

1:47:51

or with contact with nasal mucus, it

1:47:54

can then harden and potentially block the

1:47:56

nasal airway. Can you die from

1:47:58

that? He said, you have to inhale a lot. If

1:48:01

just the nasal cavity is blocked, you still

1:48:03

have the oral cavity to breathe. So

1:48:06

I think you won't die of an

1:48:08

immediate obstructive airway. Again, concrete can potentially

1:48:10

cause other lung diseases, for example, silicosis.

1:48:14

That's also a disease that you can get if you

1:48:16

inhale dust. And if it could

1:48:19

potentially be caused by concrete dust

1:48:21

as well. But that's nothing that

1:48:23

leads directly to any fatality. It's a long-going process. Do

1:48:25

you have air filters in your home? We

1:48:28

have them all around the house. They

1:48:31

have the UV stuff and so on and so forth. We're

1:48:34

not crazy about it, but it's an older

1:48:36

house. A lot of times

1:48:38

if you have carpets, which we don't, it's all hardwood,

1:48:41

the carpets will kind of catch the dust. But

1:48:43

it makes you

1:48:45

wonder-press in about years ago, and even

1:48:48

currently, the dudes who go

1:48:50

into coal mines, and the

1:48:53

black lung black one, I got the black lung, Paul.

1:48:56

I mean, it's still an issue. But

1:49:00

think about all the people that worked at 9-11, the

1:49:03

World Trade Center, when that collapsed, all of

1:49:05

those people, not all those people, many of

1:49:07

those people had serious lung problems and cancers

1:49:09

that developed because of the heroic work that

1:49:11

they had done. They

1:49:14

asked them, what would happen if you snorted snow? Like

1:49:17

snow, frozen water. Right, not

1:49:19

cocaine. It's not toxic.

1:49:22

He said it is possible to pick up snow

1:49:24

somewhere in an urban environment that's got dirt or dog

1:49:26

pee in it. Then it's a different story. But

1:49:28

normally just the cold stuff can lead to a

1:49:30

bit of irritation. If you then swallow it, for example,

1:49:32

it can potentially lead to a bit of irritation

1:49:35

further down the respiratory airway, but

1:49:37

it's very, very unlikely to cause other

1:49:39

massive symptoms. You don't want to snort

1:49:42

New York snow. And then they

1:49:44

asked, what about ground coffee? If

1:49:47

it's ground coffee, it can lead

1:49:49

to mucosal damage, inflammation, bleeding. It

1:49:52

also potentially might lead to an intensive,

1:49:54

quite rapid onset of the coffee effect.

1:49:57

So it's possible that by snorting coffee

1:49:59

powder, You have a higher dose

1:50:01

in your systemic blood flow, but

1:50:03

coffee toxicity is so, so

1:50:05

high. You need so much

1:50:07

of pure coffee that also

1:50:10

it's just not possible to

1:50:12

overdose. You have to grind it down

1:50:14

into very light particulate matter. So then

1:50:16

what about coffee enemas? They

1:50:18

deliver a rush, do they not? I would think so.

1:50:21

Right? Yeah, it goes in your

1:50:23

system quicker. I mean, that's a whole... We're completely forgetting

1:50:25

the butt. I see. We'll explore

1:50:27

the butt another time. We need

1:50:29

a productologist. Of like the, you

1:50:31

know, soaked... things

1:50:34

soaked in booze, tampons, stick with your butt and you get

1:50:36

a buzz out of it. God, I don't like this stuff.

1:50:39

What about the trend that was all the rage

1:50:41

with the pneumatic air pumps at the gas stations?

1:50:43

Yes. Where they were... people were dying.

1:50:45

There are people that look at things and go, I wonder if I

1:50:47

could put that in my butt. They

1:50:50

do. No, seriously. Had any emergency with a

1:50:52

doctor. I'd say I have all those great

1:50:54

x-rays. Absolutely. I bet I could put

1:50:56

that in my butt. All

1:50:59

right, they asked them, what about snorting desert

1:51:01

sand? He said

1:51:03

it has a lot of abrasive issues

1:51:05

when you breathe in. Snorting desert sand.

1:51:07

It can injure the endonasal mucosa.

1:51:09

It can lead to low grade inflammations.

1:51:11

If you get it into your respiratory

1:51:14

tract, then it can lead to

1:51:16

foreign body reactions within the lungs to

1:51:18

pneumonia. But that's it. So

1:51:21

that could be really, really bad. So, over

1:51:23

time, I wonder if you're someone who snorts

1:51:25

coke. So if someone is an alcoholic, a

1:51:27

lot of times the blood vessels in their

1:51:29

nose burst. Does

1:51:32

that happen with a

1:51:34

cocaine addict or someone... Do

1:51:36

you get that... The

1:51:39

burst... Oh, the capillaries on the

1:51:41

outside? I don't know. I've already seen it

1:51:43

only with alcoholics. I thought you were talking

1:51:45

about nosebleeds. No, I'm talking about externally. Yeah,

1:51:48

but we just talked about Arty Lang. Remember

1:51:51

what happened to him the other day? Yeah,

1:51:53

but the cartilage just wore away.

1:51:55

So it collapsed. But it doesn't

1:51:57

have that big sort of WC...

1:52:00

fields, bulbous, you

1:52:02

know, bursted capillary look to it. You mean

1:52:04

prior to it eating right at your cartilage?

1:52:06

I said capillary, but I think is it

1:52:08

corpuscle? Is that the more proper term? Dr.

1:52:11

McElhain. I don't know. I think you're thinking

1:52:13

of lobster week. Lobster, yeah.

1:52:16

Lobster fest, I forgot about that. The

1:52:19

last one they asked him about is talcum

1:52:21

powder. So that's what many people

1:52:23

assumed in the movies they were doing, talcum

1:52:25

powder, but that didn't seem right to me.

1:52:28

This can lead to respiratory issues. Also

1:52:30

when you inhale these talc particles, they

1:52:33

can lead to inflammation, but mainly of the

1:52:35

lung tissue. So it has to go via

1:52:37

the nasal pathway, via the post-nasal space in

1:52:39

your lungs. There's some sorts of issues with

1:52:41

talcum powder though. The people,

1:52:43

there's the lawsuits over

1:52:45

a talcum powder and the, I guess, the

1:52:48

aluminum in it? Yeah. And then it can

1:52:50

lead to quite severe impaired lung function. They

1:52:53

can potentially be fatal. There's

1:52:56

a condition called talcosis. So

1:52:58

a talcum powder induced inflammation of

1:53:00

the nose. But again, this is

1:53:03

almost the same as the asbestos. This takes

1:53:05

a long, long time to develop and you

1:53:07

have to inhale normally more talcum

1:53:09

powder regularly to create this

1:53:11

problem. So the ultimate takeaway

1:53:14

here is that if you want to be safe, snort,

1:53:17

narcan. Yeah, that's probably the best thing,

1:53:19

I guess, but I don't know. Hang

1:53:22

on a second. One more quick call and then we've got

1:53:24

to take a break. We will go

1:53:26

to Chelsea. Hi, Chelsea. Good morning. Hey,

1:53:29

good morning. Hey, what's up, Chelsea? So

1:53:32

I went to Oktoberfest in Munich

1:53:34

a couple of years back and just

1:53:37

did one of the standard tours, which I

1:53:39

would suggest for anybody if you go. But

1:53:41

they'd take you through, you know, this is how you

1:53:43

sit down and you get a beer. And

1:53:46

we're in this group and they hand

1:53:48

out their life. Apparently, when

1:53:51

you drink a lot, which

1:53:53

maybe we all do, but you don't think

1:53:55

of it, your nose gets stuffy the next

1:53:57

day. So they hand out their life. It's

1:54:00

sort of like a sugar powder with menthol. And

1:54:04

literally everybody snorting sugar powder with menthol

1:54:06

is what I'm going to call it.

1:54:09

And they're like, maybe don't take pictures of this

1:54:11

one for the tour. Wait a second.

1:54:13

So are you doing it while you're consuming or is

1:54:15

it something you do later on before you go to

1:54:17

bed? You're supposed to do it in the

1:54:20

morning. So the idea is it's

1:54:22

sort of a prophylactic way of keeping your nose

1:54:24

from stuffing up? Yes.

1:54:26

Okay. Are they like smelling salts in

1:54:28

a sense? It's

1:54:30

like a sugar powder. Like it's real

1:54:33

fine. I've never heard of

1:54:35

that. You snorted it. You literally snorted it. When

1:54:37

you watch a hockey, when you watch the Flyers,

1:54:39

especially when they come back from in between periods

1:54:41

and they're on the bench to start the second

1:54:43

or third, those guys do smelling

1:54:45

salts all the time. And

1:54:48

it's not every player, Kathy, but you'll get shots

1:54:50

at the bench watching on TV and they

1:54:53

do it just to get their blood flowing and wake up.

1:54:56

Like the actual smell, like the stuff that

1:54:58

they would use, because like they use that on

1:55:00

me when I passed out a couple of times. And

1:55:02

it was the second time that I was passing out

1:55:05

in a doctor's office. I told them, I was like,

1:55:07

give me, give me that. It will work. It

1:55:09

will work. And next thing I knew

1:55:11

I was laying down and that was under my nose,

1:55:14

but it made me, it takes away like the nausea

1:55:16

and everything because I, when I pass out, it comes

1:55:18

with like, the nausea feeling like I'm going to

1:55:20

vomit. And when they do that, it takes it

1:55:22

all away. Yeah, Nick, I've been seeing a lot

1:55:24

of videos of like the trainer standing with somebody

1:55:26

smelling salts as like college teams go out onto

1:55:29

the court or the field or wherever they're heading.

1:55:32

And it's like one out of three, maybe won't do it,

1:55:34

but everybody else is like, yeah, I put a little

1:55:36

dab of the vapor rub now and then, you

1:55:38

know, under your nose is just a very small

1:55:40

bit. And just that little, little bit

1:55:43

will kind of get me, you know, and

1:55:45

you use it for that purpose to kind of wake up a little

1:55:47

bit. Yeah. Just to clear the nasal patch,

1:55:49

just that smell, I don't want to rub it on my

1:55:51

chest. But I

1:55:53

mean, just a very tiny bit and it really,

1:55:55

it helps. It reminds me of my grandmother. The

1:55:58

smell of that. Oh,

1:56:03

that's sweet. Yeah, because he used to come in

1:56:05

and do the vix paper up on your on

1:56:07

your chest. Yeah Well, she used it on herself.

1:56:10

So I'd smell bad. There's been gay. Well any

1:56:12

of that stuff. I will anyhow Thought

1:56:15

that was just kind of a weird little

1:56:17

Question that was asked with some legitimate scientific

1:56:19

answers to it. So I thought I would

1:56:21

share We're gonna take a break because we

back with more of the Preston and

1:58:04

Steve Show Podcast. One of

1:58:06

the things I don't like about being on the

1:58:08

East Coast is we have to make our West

1:58:10

Coast friends get up so early in the morning

1:58:12

to join us. You feel bad about it for

1:58:14

interviews, but they do it gladly and we're very

1:58:16

happy to have our next guest on because he's

1:58:18

going to be in town on Saturday and at

1:58:20

the Keswick Theater there's a screening of

1:58:22

Fast Times at Ridgemont High and he is

1:58:25

there for a Q&A and a

1:58:27

little chat and some reminiscing, one of the

1:58:29

stars of that movie and we are excited

1:58:31

to have on the program this morning, Judge

1:58:34

Reinhold is joining us. Good

1:58:37

morning. It's

1:58:40

got a screaming goat. Yeah,

1:58:42

I actually borrowed it from

1:58:44

my daughter to express how scary it is

1:58:46

to be up this early. Nothing

1:58:51

like a screaming goat. I

1:58:53

have the exact same goat. Yeah,

1:58:57

there you go. No, they're great.

1:58:59

Nice. Well, listen, how

1:59:02

many years now since Fast Times

1:59:04

came out? I

1:59:06

looked at 42 years. Yeah,

1:59:09

it's amazing. I knew somebody

1:59:11

had looked at 42 years

1:59:13

and I was saying to

1:59:15

Preston earlier, Judge, first

1:59:19

off, it's one of the great comedies. It's

1:59:21

acknowledged as one of the great comedies of all time.

1:59:24

But it transcends the

1:59:27

generations that have come since then

1:59:29

because it nailed it. It nailed

1:59:31

it obviously from the source

1:59:33

material, which a lot of people don't know. Cameron

1:59:36

Crowe, the director and the writer,

1:59:39

almost famous, that was basically his story.

1:59:42

But he went into a school and

1:59:44

kind of eavesdropped on students. He was

1:59:46

young enough to pass as a student.

1:59:49

And so I guess that's one

1:59:51

of the reasons, and correct me if I'm wrong,

1:59:53

but he actually overheard conversations and

1:59:56

sort of transcribed those. That's

1:59:58

the way the kids were. we're talking in

2:00:00

the teens at that time. And I think that's why

2:00:02

it resonates. Is that what

2:00:05

holds true to you about why that movie has stood

2:00:07

up so long? He kind

2:00:09

of left me with nothing to say, but I, yeah.

2:00:15

Cameron masqueraded as

2:00:17

a senior in a San Diego high school.

2:00:22

And yes, indeed he did

2:00:25

transpose a lot of the dialogue that he

2:00:27

overheard. He'd run into the boys' room and

2:00:29

write it down. He wasn't wearing a wire.

2:00:31

So a lot of that dialogue is right

2:00:34

out of the kid's mouth. He

2:00:38

was hired to do an expose

2:00:40

for Rolling Stone. And

2:00:43

then he made it a book.

2:00:46

Fast Times at Rich Mon High, and we all carried

2:00:48

that book around. But that

2:00:51

made it special for us to know that we

2:00:53

were doing something authentic

2:00:55

like that. And in fact, what's really

2:00:58

ironic is we're in the

2:01:00

library of Congress as an,

2:01:03

I thought, wow, why? And

2:01:05

they said, because it's

2:01:08

an accurate portrayal of American

2:01:10

high school life at

2:01:12

that time. So. I agree.

2:01:14

I think we all agree. That's what resonated. I

2:01:16

remember watching the movie and it's like years

2:01:18

prior to that, I remember the show, Leave

2:01:21

it to Beaver, was one of the first

2:01:23

shows that sort of understood how brothers talk

2:01:25

to each other a little bit more than

2:01:27

your sitcom of the time. And

2:01:29

watching the exchanges and Fast Times at Rich

2:01:31

Mon High, I was like, this is how,

2:01:33

but I talk with my friends. This is

2:01:35

the stuff that I'm worried about or concerned

2:01:37

about at the time. And now

2:01:40

you were a bit older. It's

2:01:42

funny you say Leave it to Beaver because that was

2:01:45

a real influence on me when I was doing

2:01:47

the movie. I thought, wow, yeah,

2:01:49

this is a lot like Leave it to

2:01:51

Beaver. Yeah. Right.

2:01:54

Your relationship with Stacy,

2:01:56

your sister, Jennifer Jason

2:01:58

Lee. Oh,

2:02:00

that's a lot like Leave It to Beaver, right.

2:02:02

And that's the heart. You guys rib each other.

2:02:05

But you know, but there's

2:02:08

that. It's one of

2:02:10

the best scenes in the movie where she goes

2:02:12

for the abortion. If Leave It, if

2:02:14

Beaver was naked, I guess that would be. I

2:02:17

don't know if we want to see Jerry Mathers

2:02:19

naked. If Beaver had to drive a sister to

2:02:21

the abortion clinic. Yeah. Yeah. Though

2:02:25

I would. I can't see that. Yeah. But

2:02:27

that's a touching scene. I think,

2:02:30

correct me if I'm wrong, but when the movie came out, and

2:02:32

I remember this, people were kind of thinking,

2:02:34

okay, this is going to be kind of like a porky thing,

2:02:36

and this is a teen sex comedy. And

2:02:39

they weren't, they didn't quite know what to

2:02:41

expect or how to react to it. Correct?

2:02:46

Well, the kids seem

2:02:49

to really like it right away. I

2:02:53

don't remember any apprehension about it. I

2:03:00

felt like, well,

2:03:02

we just felt special because we

2:03:04

knew the source material. I

2:03:09

thought maybe I was in an American

2:03:11

graffiti more than I was

2:03:13

in a porky's because American

2:03:15

graffiti took place over one

2:03:18

night and we took place over one school year.

2:03:22

But yeah, porky's. That was,

2:03:25

I guess that was 1980 or something. Yeah.

2:03:29

How important Amy Heckerling is

2:03:31

amazing, the director and writer

2:03:33

as well. She wrote Clueless.

2:03:36

How important and how cool was it

2:03:38

to work with her? I

2:03:41

think the reason why the movie

2:03:43

works as a comedy and just

2:03:47

as an accurate

2:03:49

depiction as well is that

2:03:53

The marriage of the two sensibilities

2:03:55

of Cameron and Amy's, it was

2:03:57

just, that was the magic, really.

2:04:00

The about any was kind of a.

2:04:03

She didn't miss was in

2:04:05

her agenda but she was

2:04:07

out of a sexual renegades

2:04:09

for that time and she

2:04:11

was. She was perfect for

2:04:13

I as a D producer.

2:04:15

Art Lands and New is

2:04:18

now a legendary producer. He

2:04:20

brought them together so a

2:04:22

lot of that that was

2:04:24

that was arts doing and

2:04:26

he went on to do

2:04:28

the Untouchables and Fight. Club

2:04:30

and all these amazing movies that

2:04:32

I was early for. Have only

2:04:34

done a movie called carwash to

2:04:36

how he asked her elementary math

2:04:38

but he brought them together so

2:04:40

enda that I really didn't best

2:04:43

the secret behind it you know

2:04:45

judge when you've got a movie

2:04:47

like as as times it just

2:04:49

becomes in a when it as

2:04:51

a juggernaut as a classic. Ah

2:04:53

everybody's got their favorite scene I'm

2:04:55

Rain we've known forever that the

2:04:57

most rewound seen of all time

2:04:59

Aca. For the longest time was when

2:05:01

C Cates take stop asked the Odyssey

2:05:04

it's a classic moment and nos I

2:05:06

am movies are my favorite scene however

2:05:08

though it was also involved you if

2:05:10

as when you have the pirate had

2:05:12

on him a good looking girls and

2:05:14

zeus and you just huge part of

2:05:16

they play it I am done with

2:05:18

the as much as you probably not

2:05:20

be thrown out the when that's it

2:05:22

I just thought it was a brilliantly

2:05:24

played your facial expressions are awesome him

2:05:26

as but I wanted as you personally

2:05:28

what was your your favorite. Scene and

2:05:31

you can ah name ones that

2:05:33

you liked as a as an

2:05:35

actor working on the set and

2:05:37

then what is your favorite in

2:05:40

viewing This helps. I think when

2:05:42

I get fired and own merits and

2:05:44

burger because it's kind of when everybody

2:05:46

wants to say the that. on

2:05:49

to the jerk customers and

2:05:51

that you know with you

2:05:53

down and it's do you

2:05:55

get fired go.

2:06:03

Yeah, that

2:06:06

was pretty satisfying and apparently

2:06:09

it's pretty satisfying to a lot of

2:06:11

people because a lot of people come

2:06:13

up and say, oh, I want to

2:06:15

say that every day. Yeah. Want to

2:06:17

kick 100% of your ass. That actor

2:06:19

was the perfect dick to do that.

2:06:21

And I did not.

2:06:24

Any time I hear the name, we have a

2:06:26

caller named Brad. He says, Brad, Brad, because that

2:06:30

whole exchange is so iconic. Right.

2:06:33

Yeah. I enjoy that scene. I enjoy

2:06:36

doing that scene. Is it the scene

2:06:38

you enjoy watching the most? I

2:06:45

don't sit there and wait for my scenes. It's

2:06:48

a funny relationship I have

2:06:51

with the film because at first you're so

2:06:53

close to it. And then it

2:06:55

really takes years to be able to

2:06:57

sit back and enjoy it and say, yeah,

2:06:59

this is a funny movie. Right. So your

2:07:02

relationship with the film changes,

2:07:04

evolves over time. Right. And now

2:07:06

I feel pretty distant

2:07:08

from it and I can say, wow, this

2:07:11

is well paced and this

2:07:13

really works as a film. It seems like it might be

2:07:15

a standard arc for somebody

2:07:17

who has a success in an earlier project and

2:07:19

they appreciate the success of it.

2:07:21

They want to move on. They want to do other

2:07:24

things. And then over time circle back and go, wait

2:07:26

a minute. That was pretty damn special and can

2:07:28

go back and acknowledge how great it was. You

2:07:32

know, if it is. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So

2:07:34

many the cast, Forest Whitaker,

2:07:36

Eric Sols, Nicholas Cade, Sean Penn,

2:07:38

Ray Wallston, Phoebe Cade. And

2:07:41

then as the Spicoli character

2:07:43

working with Sean Penn, this is

2:07:45

at the beginning. You know, did

2:07:47

you, did you, what was his

2:07:49

approach? Was he method at that time?

2:07:51

What was it like working with him? You

2:07:53

know, because that's right at the beginning when

2:07:55

he's, I think, probably finding his

2:07:58

acting job. Nobody

2:08:01

knew who he was and we

2:08:03

couldn't figure out whether

2:08:07

he was a character actor who

2:08:09

just played surfers. Where

2:08:16

did the actor end and where

2:08:18

did Spicoli begin? Sean

2:08:23

really made no appearance until the end

2:08:25

of the movie. And

2:08:28

then he turned into this

2:08:30

very articulate, erudite, little guy.

2:08:35

And it was quite surprising and

2:08:37

he really did keep it up. And what was

2:08:39

so funny is the girls, they didn't

2:08:42

like Spicoli. He's obnoxious,

2:08:44

you know. And

2:08:48

he didn't care. The

2:08:51

first time that I saw him was when he rolled

2:08:53

out of that band in the park a lot. That

2:08:57

was my introduction too. That's

2:08:59

a classic scene. Well the scene, and

2:09:01

it was the scene, so when he

2:09:04

dropped that finally, it was the last

2:09:06

scene film for the movie, the Mighty Mart

2:09:08

scene, the actual end of the movie. Well,

2:09:11

yeah, it's great you

2:09:14

brought that up because I think it's

2:09:16

fascinating how that happened. They all

2:09:18

had it to the prom. The prom was the last scene. Okay.

2:09:21

And then I have

2:09:23

a feeling, Verna Fields, not to

2:09:26

get too far out, but Verna

2:09:28

Fields was the hero of Jaws

2:09:30

and she went on as

2:09:32

an editor and she

2:09:35

really saved, he credits,

2:09:37

Spielberg credits, Verna was

2:09:39

saving his butt a

2:09:41

lot. She cut Paper

2:09:43

Moon. She was

2:09:45

just a rock star editor. And

2:09:48

so Universal very rightly made her

2:09:50

a supervising editor over all of

2:09:52

the projects. And

2:09:55

I think it might have been her idea

2:09:57

to say, you know, let's

2:09:59

leave. Brad at the Mighty Mart,

2:10:01

he's not at the prom and

2:10:03

it's just a more exciting

2:10:06

way to end the film and I

2:10:08

just thought that was brilliant, you know?

2:10:10

It's perfect to give you, to give

2:10:12

your, where everyone has gone to and

2:10:15

also your moment of triumph because you

2:10:17

are the put-a-bond character in this. You're

2:10:19

the everyman, you're the everybody who's like,

2:10:21

oh the plans, all the great plans

2:10:23

that fall to hell and you're denying

2:10:26

your best but you get that win.

2:10:29

Yeah, it's really Brad's story

2:10:33

is a series of humiliations. Yeah.

2:10:36

And so it really is his redemption at

2:10:38

the end. Yeah. With

2:10:41

the, so just to remind people, the Keswick Theatre of

2:10:43

the screening is going to be on Saturday. Judge

2:10:45

will be there and obviously talking about the

2:10:47

film. Besides this, we do. Really

2:10:50

fun. I'm sorry to interrupt you. No, it's

2:10:52

all good. Well, I just, it's so

2:10:54

much fun to be able to, I

2:10:57

like that. I think that's true. I

2:11:00

also did want to ask about Beverly

2:11:02

Hills Cop because not that long ago,

2:11:05

saw the trailer for the next film

2:11:07

and on surface of, I don't know,

2:11:09

do we need another Beverly Hills Cop

2:11:12

movie? Saw the trailer. Every single one

2:11:14

of us came in here. We're like, did you see

2:11:16

this? They're going in

2:11:18

a really cool direction with this. It looks

2:11:20

pretty awesome. So I'm excited about

2:11:23

what the future holds and not

2:11:25

only you in it, John Ashton

2:11:27

is in it who played Taggart. So

2:11:29

the crews back together. Are

2:11:31

you excited? Oh,

2:11:34

it's a great cast. I

2:11:36

love those guys. I feel like

2:11:38

we're in a rock band. Paul

2:11:42

Riser is one of them. Bronson

2:11:46

Pinchot is one of them and just

2:11:49

all of us together. Yeah.

2:11:51

I feel like we're Eddie's backup band, you

2:11:53

know? We

2:11:56

all know our job and yeah.

2:12:00

It another barrow your family be I know

2:12:02

you didn't bat. An

2:12:06

eye bags of the so is so that. We

2:12:10

need this one hundred and I want

2:12:12

to my eyes are you judge about

2:12:14

that about of casting directors and they

2:12:17

these days announced that the economy more

2:12:19

to they're going to be presenting award

2:12:21

for Castings Odds so and and you

2:12:23

in Beverly Hills cop your your character.

2:12:25

I might have said this is a

2:12:28

role for you but but yeah it

2:12:30

is perfect and you as as as

2:12:32

Brad is is is is perfect on

2:12:34

how and how important is. That process

2:12:37

and and now I'm because I understand.

2:12:39

Nicholas Cage almost had the rope sewn

2:12:41

up of Brad, but he was too

2:12:43

young. So somebody yeah somebody so you

2:12:46

and said yeah, he's got. Well

2:12:49

I lived up or I'll have them

2:12:51

about pay me. had going out in

2:12:53

the apartment above it and so it

2:12:55

was made it harder for her to

2:12:57

recognize that city me take out the

2:12:59

garbage stuck with me assuming a hard

2:13:02

for her to really realize that I

2:13:04

could do it and than one seats

2:13:06

sort of I could see brought me

2:13:08

and but I the Masquerade was. That.

2:13:11

I wasn't supposed to lead on

2:13:13

that. I knew her because she

2:13:15

said. That. Are

2:13:17

wouldn't take me seriously if he

2:13:19

knew that we were friends so

2:13:21

I had to pretend that I

2:13:24

didn't know. And and. It

2:13:26

was tough is everybody were and

2:13:28

rightfully so really did want. That's

2:13:30

Diane and I am. I understand

2:13:33

why by tab because he was

2:13:35

seventeen and not yet eighteen. ah

2:13:37

it would have missed the schedule

2:13:39

of because he still had it

2:13:41

is so I'd to work i'm

2:13:43

in father hours ah. Yeah.

2:13:45

Does that was the reason? Doesn't want to ask

2:13:48

you about your appearance on Seinfeld at you know

2:13:50

the rely Tv shows that people sort of went

2:13:52

back to our during the pandemic and rewards

2:13:54

again and and there for for me and my

2:13:56

fiance. Seinfeld was one of them. And are you

2:13:59

have nominated for. Emmy for your guess we're

2:14:01

all which was remarkable A but there's something

2:14:03

inherently sweet about the close talker character. the

2:14:05

of what you were trying to do the

2:14:07

whole time was just be nice to people

2:14:10

and in a show with characters who were

2:14:12

really really reprehensible people's you are kind of

2:14:14

like this outlier of us have a nice

2:14:16

guy of what was your impression of them

2:14:18

by character have been on the show and

2:14:21

it was just have one of for you

2:14:23

but it like it was time a lasting

2:14:25

ah character for a lot of other people

2:14:27

myself included. I

2:14:31

should I said glass of water sorry

2:14:34

houses our voices Are you at the

2:14:36

go to? Ah

2:14:38

is the water for your the

2:14:41

goat a year ago versus. Get

2:14:48

a wet as whistle here or if

2:14:50

I'm sorry sir, that's okay. If I

2:14:52

did did it was inducted like. It.

2:14:55

Tasted like to pay. A

2:15:00

Go on my clothes, Soccer up? Yeah

2:15:03

yes or Aaron. was Barry a dogged

2:15:05

about it? I think what we we

2:15:07

all laughed at the table read was

2:15:10

he he is a friendly guy, sweet

2:15:12

guy and then he turns out to

2:15:14

be insane. I'm

2:15:17

usually you equate at least

2:15:19

in movies and stuff in

2:15:21

same people with dangerous people

2:15:23

in. Arizona.

2:15:26

Dangerous. but he is insane. He

2:15:28

does turn up to be crazy.

2:15:31

Were you surprised by the Emmy

2:15:33

nomination for for that role? Ah

2:15:35

yes! I

2:15:40

don't get the impression you're you're full of yourself

2:15:42

when it comes to stuff. I dare say you

2:15:44

use your take it with a grain of salt.

2:15:46

Correct. Oh well. Now I just wasn't expecting that.

2:15:48

and that. Are

2:15:50

yeah, these are some

2:15:53

funny outs, Martin Sir.

2:15:55

martin seen ended up winning at a

2:15:57

year for murphy brown And

2:16:00

the great Paul Dooley,

2:16:04

I was up with him and I thought, wow, I

2:16:08

could lose to Paul, but Martin

2:16:10

isn't necessarily known for his comic

2:16:12

work, you know? Yeah. And

2:16:14

so, but then he wanted his,

2:16:16

which is sometimes the case with the Emmys

2:16:19

and him being the, well,

2:16:23

it's like he had seniority, but

2:16:25

years later, years later in a

2:16:28

party, after

2:16:30

he'd done the West Wing, I said,

2:16:32

hey, you know, congratulations on your Emmy

2:16:34

for best guest star in a comedic

2:16:36

series. And he said, what? And I

2:16:38

said, yeah, you know, you won that

2:16:41

year. I

2:16:43

was up, I did? And

2:16:45

I said, yeah. I

2:16:49

remember, you know, he's got a

2:16:51

whole, whole stuff, Emmys. And

2:16:53

I said, yeah, well, of course you wouldn't. And

2:16:56

he said, do you want it? Well,

2:16:58

it's kind of not, it's kind of not

2:17:00

the same. He

2:17:03

says, I'm so sorry. I

2:17:08

didn't even know he'd get out. That's

2:17:11

hilarious. You want it? I

2:17:13

mean, kind of. You want it? Yeah. By

2:17:17

the way, isn't that, isn't

2:17:19

that illegal? With the

2:17:21

awards or maybe it's just the Oscars that you

2:17:23

can't, you can't give your, in fact, they kicked

2:17:25

some guy out of the union for, I think,

2:17:28

giving away his Oscar or selling it or something.

2:17:30

Oh, wow. Yeah. Oh, it's

2:17:33

a good thing that didn't happen. He wouldn't want

2:17:35

to have killed Martin Sheen's career. The

2:17:38

famous critic Pauline Taylor is

2:17:40

reading that she had

2:17:42

described you as a cross between Jimmy

2:17:44

Stewart and Donald Duck, which I mean,

2:17:47

to get acknowledged, there's a great documentary

2:17:49

about her. But

2:17:51

really, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

2:17:54

And just, you know, legend. I

2:17:58

mean, when you end up on somebody like that,

2:18:00

when you end up on their radar it's got

2:18:02

to be like a double take moment correct oh

2:18:04

it was amazing that she chose to write about

2:18:06

the movie and we were in the

2:18:09

New Yorker and I didn't

2:18:11

mind the Donald Duck right I

2:18:14

totally got it I thought that was a brilliant

2:18:17

way to describe new she also said

2:18:19

I know this by heart of course

2:18:21

the young man

2:18:24

with the old man's name yeah

2:18:26

yeah it's just right yeah yeah

2:18:29

that was pretty that was pretty cool who

2:18:31

amongst the cast members do you

2:18:33

obviously we're talking decades but who

2:18:36

remains closer to your your circle

2:18:38

and the guy who plays

2:18:40

Arnold Scott Thompson

2:18:44

he and I were friends before we

2:18:46

were friends with Amy Amy's

2:18:49

pack was well Marty brass

2:18:51

was part of that group

2:18:54

and Stuart Kornfeld who went

2:18:56

on to produce all of

2:19:02

no not welfare oh excuse me

2:19:04

Ben Stiller's movies and

2:19:07

let's see who else oh

2:19:09

John Landis was kind of

2:19:11

around okay it was a

2:19:13

pretty it was a pretty

2:19:16

fun group anyway Scott and I

2:19:18

yeah Scott and I were always already

2:19:20

running together so yeah that's cool yeah

2:19:23

we kept up yeah speaking of old

2:19:25

friends I don't know there's someone

2:19:27

on our phone lines it's on hold named Tom

2:19:29

Keene that says he's an old friend of yours

2:19:31

is that name ring a bell to you from

2:19:37

where you want anyone to ask you do you

2:19:39

do it yeah well I think you know I

2:19:46

grew up in Wilmington I would I think

2:19:48

it might be a friend from Wilmington

2:19:51

I like around there until I was

2:19:53

14 all right should I pull them up on the

2:19:56

on the phone lines and find out Well

2:19:58

I'd love to get it in for me. And if

2:20:00

that's okay I only do they will

2:20:02

do that goes around them. Fall judges

2:20:05

email them or email me. Last night

2:20:07

I said the give a give a

2:20:09

cause we once will see we can

2:20:11

go to you but are all email

2:20:13

Are you or your lovely wife Amy

2:20:15

and we can connecting as our way.

2:20:17

Thank you. I'd love to talk to

2:20:20

her and I am aware how long

2:20:22

were you in Wilmington Thought were revered

2:20:24

a whole time. Sports: My father worked

2:20:26

for the Du Pont Company is a

2:20:28

leaves a lawyer use that arbitrator. So

2:20:30

he'd settle disputes between labour

2:20:33

and management. And.a We He

2:20:35

retired when I was fourteen

2:20:37

and we moved to his

2:20:39

old farm in Virginia that

2:20:41

he'd always had. So I

2:20:43

was doing. I was. I

2:20:46

was quite a transition from

2:20:48

absolutely. Kind of. Yeah,

2:20:50

I'm at the. Bus

2:20:53

back in time the county school and

2:20:55

hair down my shoulders and ban everybody

2:20:57

was in agricultural schools and stuff and

2:20:59

but yeah I was. That was a

2:21:01

tough transition that was both went. How

2:21:03

did you make their the jump to

2:21:05

the acting career? Does he go the

2:21:07

New York rude or to to go

2:21:09

there California. Know

2:21:12

I I've found a girl I

2:21:14

have crush on against drama school

2:21:16

as into drama after school drama

2:21:19

class. With my sophomore

2:21:21

year. There. In

2:21:23

Virginia and. And

2:21:25

a wonderful teacher. And so

2:21:28

that's. I

2:21:30

felt more comfortable on the

2:21:32

stage than I did in

2:21:34

my life. Ah, and so

2:21:36

I. I didn't. Feel like

2:21:38

oh i tell my calling but i

2:21:40

just love doing place. That

2:21:43

ah got a job with the Burt

2:21:45

Reynolds Dinner Theater is one of the

2:21:47

first apprentices. They are always Jupiter. Ah

2:21:51

yes, yeah. Wow. And. Yeah.

2:21:55

Yeah. yeah a if you had a

2:21:57

walk on hard and then he served

2:21:59

during of the intermission you could maybe walk

2:22:01

away with a hundred dollars. Did

2:22:06

Burt himself come down frequently? Oh

2:22:08

yeah, he directed shows. Oh wow.

2:22:11

Yeah, he directed shows down there. There's

2:22:13

a larger-than-life character. Any

2:22:15

takeaways, any memories that stand

2:22:18

out? Dom

2:22:22

Dela Louise was hilarious. And

2:22:25

we had Charles Nelson Riley. Although

2:22:27

they think of him if they're

2:22:30

of age, of

2:22:32

somebody on Hollywood Squares. But

2:22:34

he was really a brilliant

2:22:37

director. And he directed Julie

2:22:39

Harris and Vincent Gardenia. And

2:22:41

wow, a death of a

2:22:43

salesman. It was

2:22:46

really an amazing experience for me. And

2:22:50

I got to know James Best. And

2:22:53

Sally Fields did Bus Stop. Burt directed

2:22:55

them in Bus Stop. Wow. And

2:22:58

you know, Jimmy went on to do The Dukes of Hazzard.

2:23:01

And Jimmy wasn't like that at all. He

2:23:03

was much more serious than that

2:23:05

anyway. Several

2:23:07

of those actors said that they

2:23:09

thought that I had promise and

2:23:11

that I should move to LA.

2:23:14

And really, the only decision, the

2:23:18

only thing that

2:23:20

I pointed

2:23:23

to LA was, well, I'm going to be so

2:23:25

poor that I can

2:23:27

live outside. I can sleep outside in LA.

2:23:29

I can't sleep outside in New York. That's

2:23:32

great. You know, I was thinking the

2:23:34

worst-case scenario. But

2:23:36

as it turned out, Animal House had just

2:23:38

come out. And so there was this whole

2:23:40

new genre of wild

2:23:43

and crazy guy comedies. And I was

2:23:46

in stripes not too long after I

2:23:48

got to LA. So I was really

2:23:50

lucky. I rode that wave

2:23:52

in. Man, what a wild thing to be

2:23:55

amongst because I forgot, yeah, Burt Reynolds list

2:23:57

of friends and people who played there. I

2:24:00

mean you were in

2:24:02

an improbable place you were surrounded by

2:24:04

some of the greatest actors around pretty

2:24:06

wild It was wild

2:24:08

yeah, yeah Yeah, that

2:24:11

was a great time Obviously

2:24:13

judge has got plenty of stories and

2:24:15

that's what it's gonna be Saturday night

2:24:18

because we theater actually some tickets together

2:24:21

I can take a caller number 18 and you

2:24:23

will be able to go to the keswick theater

2:24:25

It's on Saturday night tickets are on sale now

2:24:28

And it's an evening. It's a screening of the film. Are

2:24:30

you I assume Screening first and then you're

2:24:32

going to talk to the crowd or is it worth the other

2:24:34

way around? Well, no, I

2:24:37

like to introduce it and tell some stories

2:24:39

that'll help give people a dimension

2:24:42

When they're watching the movie because most of the people

2:24:44

have already seen the movie So I

2:24:46

like to tell them some stuff to look for Makes

2:24:49

it more fun and and then afterwards we have

2:24:52

a a Q&A. It's great I

2:24:54

mean, it's such a such a great movie

2:24:56

and you and you are a critical part

2:24:58

of it and your stories and storytelling is

2:25:00

is You know at pro

2:25:02

level. So I think people gonna have

2:25:04

a great evening. Thank you

2:25:06

so much you guys Absolutely and

2:25:09

and come back down and see Wilmington while you're here

2:27:08

My God. And

2:27:11

it is brought to you

2:27:13

this morning by Dermatology Associates

2:27:16

of Plymouth Meeting. Recruiting for

2:27:18

a non-segmental vitiligo study to

2:27:20

test an investigational medication. Adults

2:27:23

18 and older can register to

2:27:25

go to plymouthmeetingdermatology.com. Police

2:27:27

say that an 11-year-old boy is

2:27:29

admitted to bringing pot

2:27:32

brownies to school and sharing with his classmates.

2:27:34

That little whipper-snapper. Prompting one

2:27:36

to be taken to the hospital for

2:27:38

a medical evaluation. Now we've ignored Adderall.

2:27:40

Police were called to campus at

2:27:42

about 7.30 a.m. after receiving a

2:27:44

call about a student who may

2:27:46

have brownies containing THC. We'll

2:27:49

wake and bake that particular day. Sure. They

2:27:51

were able to track down an 11-year-old student

2:27:53

who admitted to bringing the brownies in question

2:27:56

from home. I bet that was a mellow

2:27:58

show and tell. The student... also

2:28:00

allegedly admitted to passing out Brownies to other

2:28:02

students. One of the kids apparently ate some

2:28:05

of the Brownies and had to be taken

2:28:07

to the hospital for a medical evaluation. But

2:28:09

if teacher can't get a Brownie, the student

2:28:11

who is accused of bringing them has been

2:28:13

referred to the county juvenile court for minor

2:28:16

in possession that they were later released their

2:28:18

parents. They are investigating where the

2:28:20

Brownies came from and how the 11 year old came

2:28:22

into possession of them. So I don't know if the

2:28:24

intent was to bring them to you

2:28:26

know knowing that they had a pot in them or

2:28:28

not. They could have just grabbed Brownies from the

2:28:30

kitchen not knowing. Don't really know. Really parents

2:28:33

please separate your pot Brownies from your regular

2:28:35

Brownies. Label them properly please if you would.

2:28:37

A Nebraska teen was

2:28:39

in a hurry Friday to see his

2:28:41

special gal around 930 p.m. deputies

2:28:44

pulled over a Kia Sorrento that

2:28:46

was caught doing 117 miles per hour in a 55

2:28:51

mile an hour zone. Oh, showing out of

2:28:53

boner. In West Omaha yeah the driver a

2:28:56

17-year-old said he was quote rushing to meet

2:28:58

his girlfriend during a work break. The

2:29:01

teen was cited on suspicion of speeding

2:29:03

and not having a valid registration and

2:29:05

he is facing a fine of about

2:29:07

320 so they don't wave highway speed

2:29:10

limits if you're if you're gonna get laid.

2:29:12

Yeah I guess they don't. I've never tried

2:29:14

that argument so. A

2:29:16

man has been jailed after deliberately ramming cars

2:29:18

at speeds of 130 miles an hour while

2:29:21

high on drugs. Gavin

2:29:26

Spittig was on a

2:29:29

cocktail of cocaine cannabis and alcohol when he

2:29:31

drove his silver BMW 125 like

2:29:33

a quote absolute lunatic on the

2:29:35

M3 freeway this is in England.

2:29:38

Viewing himself as the enforcer of

2:29:40

good driving he deliberately

2:29:43

crashed into what he considered bad drivers

2:29:45

during a 30 mile rampage on the

2:29:47

busy motorway before he was arrested. Thank

2:29:49

God someone's looking out for us. He

2:29:52

shunted the backs of nine cars so

2:29:54

he rammed into them nine cars. Bad

2:29:56

driver! During the half hour

2:29:58

spree of destruction after which he punched the

2:30:01

air in triumphant victory, according to the

2:30:03

court. Like Judd Nelson. Bining

2:30:05

even tried to grab or damage the side view mirror

2:30:10

of a car, according to one witness. Bad

2:30:12

mirror! One of his targets was a mother

2:30:15

of three. Her last name is Terry. Mrs.

2:30:17

Terry said that she felt an impact at

2:30:19

the rear side of her car. She described

2:30:22

seeing the silver BMW behind her, and he

2:30:24

was repeatedly, deliberately ramming the rear. He

2:30:26

pulled up into the middle lane in an attempt to get

2:30:29

away from him, but he followed her and rammed her

2:30:31

at the end. The woman pulled

2:30:33

her Tesla into a hard shoulder and

2:30:35

the silver BMW got away. Bining told

2:30:37

police that his rampage was a once-in-a-lifetime

2:30:40

moment after years of bad driving of

2:30:42

other people. He couldn't take it anymore.

2:30:44

Through tailgating, lane hogging, and driving slow.

2:30:46

And he added, quote, I want to

2:30:48

open up everyone else to

2:30:52

keeping the outside lane clear. Another

2:30:54

driver said he had never seen such dangerous

2:30:56

substandard driving. The prosecutor told the court that

2:30:59

he described the defendant to

2:31:01

be like driving like an absolute lunatic and

2:31:03

was shocked that he didn't kill anyone. One

2:31:06

driver, Lee Touswill, thought

2:31:08

that he was about to die when Bining

2:31:10

crashed into the back of his vehicle, which

2:31:12

spun him around to face oncoming traffic. So he

2:31:14

did like a T. That's crazy. I

2:31:16

think his quest for justice was clouded by

2:31:19

the drugs. Maybe. So apologizing

2:31:21

through his lawyer, Bining

2:31:23

said, I don't know what happened to

2:31:25

me that day, and I don't know

2:31:27

why I was so stupid that my

2:31:29

remorse did not appear when interviewed. He

2:31:32

said that Bining, his lawyer said, Bining

2:31:34

takes full responsibility for his actions. He

2:31:37

will be handed a nine-year sentence and will

2:31:39

serve six of them in custody. So dude's

2:31:41

doing some time for that, obviously. This

2:31:44

is terrible. And one of those moments where you're

2:31:46

like, man, you just had no shot at it.

2:31:48

A person was killed Monday morning

2:31:51

in Pennsylvania when a tree fell

2:31:53

into their house. So

2:31:55

they were inside the house. What are you going to do?

2:31:58

The coroner confirmed the victim was 45. of

2:32:01

Gardner's, Pennsylvania. Two others

2:32:03

were able to escape un-injured from the

2:32:06

South Middleton Township home. Crews were dispatched

2:32:08

at about 3.10 in the morning. And

2:32:12

fire officials said that they were on the scene

2:32:14

for about three hours at home. It is a

2:32:16

partial loss. And then

2:32:18

we'll do just one more story

2:32:20

and we will wrap it up.

2:32:22

A male humanoid robot in

2:32:25

Saudi Arabia was captured

2:32:27

on video, apparently touching a

2:32:29

female reporter's butt. Wow,

2:32:32

the robot named Muhammad the

2:32:35

humanoid robot. Nice software. Made

2:32:37

his debut at Deep

2:32:40

Fest last week. Deep Fest. Yeah,

2:32:42

Muhammad was built by Saudi robotics

2:32:44

company QSS and speaks Arabic and

2:32:47

English. And during a

2:32:49

presentation, Muhammad appears to touch

2:32:51

reporter, Wai'awakezim's backside. Copy the

2:32:53

field. She gives the robot

2:32:56

a stern glare and raises her palm

2:32:58

before continuing. Yeah, baby. Social

2:33:00

media users accused the robot of touching

2:33:02

the woman inappropriately. QSS

2:33:04

says that it has reviewed the footage

2:33:07

and will prevent anyone from getting close

2:33:09

to the robot within its areas of

2:33:11

movement as well. Why would

2:33:13

you design a sexual assault robot? And

2:33:15

that is the last story in the

2:33:18

Bizarre File for you this morning. All

2:33:20

right, we are gonna take a break. I do

2:33:22

2:38:33

that unless you ooh and aah, each time

2:38:35

you see the crack in the Liberty Bell,

2:38:37

her naked ass is no big deal. I

2:38:41

like that. And finally, Doja Cat, announcer

2:38:43

sees departed Instagram saying it has impacted

2:38:45

her mental health. Doja Cat says she

2:38:47

plans on getting away from it all

2:39:29

tickets. Visit phillyboatshow.com. All the

2:39:32

details are rotten. Why

2:39:35

did that not work? Hang on a second. I do

2:39:38

have some things to share and

2:39:52

we'll begin with this. Flash

2:39:54

has confirmed a North American

2:39:57

tour this summer in celebration.

2:40:00

of his love of the blues. Jimmy!

2:40:02

And Jimmy will be joining. No,

2:40:05

actually kicks off on July 5th. Slash

2:40:08

has curated an all-star blues lineup to

2:40:10

join him, including, and I will be

2:40:13

honest, there are several names here I

2:40:15

do not know, but Eric Gales, Warren

2:40:17

Haynes Band, Right. Kev

2:40:19

Moe, Robert Randolph,

2:40:21

Samantha Fish, and more.

2:40:24

And he has named it the

2:40:26

Serpent Festival, an anagram that stands

2:40:28

for solidarity, engagement,

2:40:31

restore peace, equality, and

2:40:33

tolerance to bring fans

2:40:35

together to celebrate the spirit of

2:40:38

the blues and to perform with

2:40:40

other blues artists that he admires

2:40:42

who shares his love of the

2:40:44

genre. You know Robert

2:40:46

Randolph Preston? No, not by name.

2:40:48

What's the answer in it? A steel guitar, but like

2:40:51

it's a lap steel guitar? A latsumer? Is that what

2:40:53

it's called? No, like a lap, a steel guitar, but.

2:40:56

A lap steel. Lap steel, thank you. He

2:40:58

plays that and I've seen him open for

2:41:00

Dave Matthews a couple of times. He's enormously talented,

2:41:02

a great musician. And I

2:41:05

think it's Saw Kim Oh actually, open for Dave Matthews as

2:41:07

well. But anyway, Larkin Poull is on the bill too.

2:41:09

Yeah, which is perfect because she plays Larkin Poull.

2:41:12

That's right too. The show

2:41:14

nearest to us, and if you see

2:41:16

something else, Nick, let me know, but

2:41:19

August 5th and Beth Lohim at

2:41:21

Music Fest. Oh, okay. Is what I have,

2:41:23

yeah. The Music Fest is huge. Yeah, they

2:41:25

have like 60, 70

2:41:27

bands over a stretch of days. So that's

2:41:30

gonna be his, that thing is gonna be a

2:41:32

part of Music Fest. It's pretty wild. I understand.

2:41:35

Speaking of Flash, it's been bothering me. Did you tell

2:41:37

us last week, Preston, that he wasn't gonna be at

2:41:39

the Oscars and that's why Wolfie was playing? The

2:41:41

way that I read that story, it seemed as

2:41:44

if he, it wasn't clear.

2:41:46

No, but yeah, he ended

2:41:48

up obviously playing. And they both did, yeah.

2:41:50

And Wolfie didn't show up till the end. So

2:41:52

maybe he did kind of surprise her, because

2:41:55

he realized how big it was gonna be. Not really sure.

2:41:58

The band, Train. has announced

2:42:00

their eighth voyage of sale across

2:42:02

the Sun cruise that departs from

2:42:05

Miami to

2:42:13

Cozumel on February 13th and returns

2:42:15

five days later. Other

2:42:17

bands on the ship include Living Color and

2:42:20

Matt Navinson with several others. Prices

2:42:22

start around $1,000 and

2:42:25

booking begins on March 29th. Jim

2:42:29

Blossoms and Toe the Wet Sprocket

2:42:31

will co-headline a tour this summer and

2:42:33

Vertical Horizon is scheduled as an opening

2:42:36

night. That's one

2:42:38

of those fun collections, Vertical Horizon

2:42:40

as well, Toe the Wet Sprocket.

2:42:43

Jim Blossoms lead singer Robin Wilson said, I'm

2:42:45

looking forward to an awesome summer of fine

2:42:47

rock. Friendship between the two headliners goes back

2:42:50

over 30 years in 1992 when Toe the

2:42:52

Wet Sprocket embarked on

2:42:54

their first headlining shows. Jim Blossoms opened

2:42:56

for them. I had this kind of

2:42:58

weird relationship with Toe the Wet

2:43:01

Sprocket because I love that band.

2:43:03

I think their harmonies are fantastic. They

2:43:05

do three part harmonies and they're just really

2:43:07

neat melodies that they weave in and out

2:43:09

of each other. But I had a chance

2:43:11

to interview them a couple of times throughout

2:43:13

the years and they're not unkind

2:43:17

but they're just kind of a

2:43:19

little full of them. But

2:43:21

Pompas kind of not

2:43:24

wanting to do the radio thing

2:43:26

and it was always a tough

2:43:28

interview. You do realize you're Toe

2:43:30

the Wet Sprocket. Well but back then they

2:43:32

were hitting and I don't know. But

2:43:36

it's changed now. It probably has changed

2:43:38

now. We can drive to

2:43:40

your house. I think Glenn is the lead singer. But

2:43:44

yeah, it was just kind of weird

2:43:46

but I really, really like that band

2:43:48

a lot. They're going to rename it

2:43:50

Toe the Wet Mortgage. August

2:43:52

15th they will be playing the Wind

2:43:55

Creek Event Center in Bethlehem and it'd

2:43:57

be great if that tour swung a little.

2:44:00

little bit closer but Beth-Him's not

2:44:02

too far away at all so

2:44:04

we shall see yet Glenn Phillips

2:44:06

yeah that's his name. Alright and

2:44:08

the last thing brand new Bon

2:44:11

Jovi music tomorrow morning debuting with

2:44:13

Pierre Robert at 11 a.m.

2:44:15

That seems suitable. Long as we finish our

2:44:17

show by 11 a.m. which yeah well then

2:44:19

we will be doing live broadcast and you

2:44:22

never know how that goes but we'll be

2:44:24

at the ballpark but Pierre is gonna handle

2:44:26

some brand new Bon Jovi and Cervatie on

2:44:28

a plata tomorrow morning here on W-L-O-S so

2:44:30

just a heads up on that. Alright we will

2:44:32

take one more break we're kind of skidded out

2:44:34

a little bit on the earlier side because we

2:44:36

got a plane to catch and all that good

2:44:38

stuff so we will return in a moment we'll

2:44:40

get the letter of the day for the word

2:44:42

of the week so stay put we'll be right

2:44:44

back. On

2:44:58

Wednesday morning, President

2:45:01

N's team radio program.

2:45:03

Coming to the end

2:45:05

of the day it's

2:45:22

kind of a start for us as we're gonna be

2:45:24

traveling here shortly but today

2:45:26

has been enjoyable and I would like to

2:45:29

thank our guest Mr. Judge Ryan Hulb for

2:45:31

being on the show today talking about Fast

2:45:34

Times at Richmond. Hi he has an evening

2:45:36

with Judge Ryan Hulb this Saturday at the

2:45:38

Keswick and he's gonna

2:45:40

come out he's gonna introduce the film you're gonna

2:45:43

watch the movie he's gonna tell you some stories

2:45:45

ahead of time and just to give you some

2:45:47

perspective some things maybe didn't know about things to

2:45:49

look for and then on the back

2:45:51

end he's gonna come out and do a Q&A and

2:45:53

he says he loves doing this type of thing. Oh

2:45:55

yeah and he lived it grew up in Wilmington yeah

2:45:57

it's very cool this is his stomping grounds Pretty

2:46:00

cool. So it was nice having him on today.

2:46:03

Piero Bear is in attendance. Hey, ma'am. Good

2:46:05

day, my children. What time are your flights,

2:46:08

I'm curious. Not till like 1.50 I

2:46:11

think is when we fly. So we got time.

2:46:14

You can land this thing really early when you

2:46:16

want to. You're

2:46:19

ruthless when you've got to be so much.

2:46:22

You land this plane with the precision of

2:46:24

a laser beam. And

2:46:27

I would say you have

2:46:29

like, you could go

2:46:31

home and clean the car. You can

2:46:33

have a shower. Showers and nap. I

2:46:35

mean, it's, when is it? Are

2:46:37

they two o'clock? Your flights? 1.50. Yeah,

2:46:40

you have oodles of time. Yeah. Or

2:46:42

whatever. I find it fascinating.

2:46:45

Well, of course, you know how many planes I've missed?

2:46:48

I bet you've not. You probably missed like

2:46:50

seven or eight planes. Not one. I've got

2:46:53

a perfect record. I think he is more

2:46:55

so talking about ending our show prior to

2:46:57

his maybe some days. Yeah. Well, I understand

2:46:59

that too. Well, I mean, it's, I

2:47:01

mean, when you're in

2:47:04

flow, it can go. And

2:47:07

when you've got to go, it's in

2:47:09

flow. Well, exactly. Yeah. So I just,

2:47:11

I find that fascinating. That's all good.

2:47:13

And we like to be fascinating. Oh,

2:47:15

you are fascinating. And we're also, we're

2:47:18

down. Thank God no one lives like

2:47:20

me. I wouldn't, I wouldn't wish me

2:47:22

in my field of dance upon anyone.

2:47:24

I don't wish me upon you ever.

2:47:26

I love that. Never do I. All

2:47:30

right. Well, you said the government infection. And

2:47:34

you want to stay away from it. Yes. All

2:47:36

right. Let's do the letter. Here we go. President

2:47:38

Steve on 93, three W

2:47:40

2:47:42
