Welcome in everyone and thank you so

0:36

much for joining me again this week . This

0:39

week , our guest is here

0:41

to help bring us into the new

0:43

year . My guest this week is Paula

0:45

Agudelo , and she is a sacred

0:48

interior designer , and I can't wait for you

0:50

to find out what that means . She's

0:52

also a design coach specifically

0:55

for professional women , and

0:57

she has devoted her time and her

0:59

passion to creating sacred spaces

1:01

, and we're going to talk about what

1:03

sacred spaces are and the importance

1:06

of creating them within our

1:08

environment . It is my pleasure

1:10

and my honor to introduce to you Paula

1:12

. Paula , thank you so much for being

1:15

here and welcome to the show . Thank

1:17

you for having me . I'm so excited to be here

1:19

. We're talking about design

1:21

and we're talking about sacred spaces

1:23

. Let's first talk

1:26

about what

1:28

you are trained to do and what has

1:30

led you into creating

1:33

these spaces specifically

1:35

for women , and why they're important

1:37

to have them .

1:38

Amazing . Well

1:40

, I am an interior designer . I went

1:43

to school at the Art Institute

1:45

of Perlottardale and I

1:47

did the Art Institute of Pittsburgh

1:49

Many years ago . I

1:51

am also a Kundalini yoga

1:54

teacher , certified in all kinds

1:56

of feminine embodiment and somatic

1:58

practices , and so what I have done

2:00

, and what that sacred interior designer kind

2:03

of title means , is that

2:05

we designed sacred spaces

2:07

in the home space through

2:09

feminine embodiment , spiritual development

2:12

and interior design . So it's kind of a merge

2:14

of all those three things . How

2:17

did I get here ? A few

2:19

things . I think . One of the first things

2:21

that brought me here , unknowingly

2:24

, was as a kid I

2:26

had quite an interesting

2:28

upbringing . My dad died when I was really little

2:31

and there was just a

2:33

lot going on in my home . My mom was really

2:35

depressed and I was really lonely and

2:38

, I think , just intuitively , I started

2:40

creating sacred space for myself through

2:43

painting , furniture and art

2:45

and kind of making the one room

2:47

that I had which I used

2:49

to share with my sister , and that's a whole story

2:52

. But I used to share this space

2:54

and I found a lot of just

2:56

refuge in creating that space for myself

2:59

. Later on in life , after I

3:01

went to school for design , I

3:03

started working for high-end design

3:05

firms and I realized there was this gap

3:08

in the industry where I

3:10

was designing really beautiful , opulent

3:12

and luxurious spaces but

3:14

I wasn't seeing the connection to

3:16

how that affected someone's life

3:19

and there was like that just soul

3:21

piece that was missing , and so

3:23

that kind of created

3:25

a disappointment for me , if

3:28

that's the right word . And

3:31

then when I went through

3:33

deeper senses of loss

3:35

in my life as an adult and then

3:37

also entered a time of a lot of

3:39

joy in my life when I was a stay-at-home mom

3:41

and gave birth to my daughter at

3:43

home , that's when it

3:45

really hit me that my

3:47

space , the home that I had put

3:50

so much effort , time and money designing

3:53

, was more than just a really beautiful

3:55

space . It was a space that held

3:57

such a clear reflection of

4:00

the vision I had for this birth

4:02

and how I was going to welcome my daughter

4:04

into the world at home

4:06

, in the water , under the

4:08

full moon , surrounded by so many beautiful

4:11

things . That meant a lot to me , and

4:13

so I always say that when Luna

4:15

that's my daughter's name was born , that's

4:18

when Sacred Interiors , which is my business

4:20

, really was born .

4:21

So you're creating these beautiful spaces

4:24

that welcome in creativity

4:26

and peace and joy and

4:29

allow us to recharge

4:31

and reenergize ourselves

4:33

in this space . But you've

4:35

done something even a step further

4:37

, and we're talking about this in the beginning

4:39

of the new year of 2024

4:42

, where many people , including myself

4:44

, create vision boards and

4:46

the power that is a vision

4:49

board and full transparency

4:51

. My friend who puts on these vision board

4:53

parties will attest that before

4:56

I did

4:58

my first vision board , I

5:00

literally thought it was just arts and crafts . Before

5:03

that , I doubted the

5:05

power of a vision board . Did

5:07

the vision board ? Then I can finally see

5:09

and experience the power of this

5:11

. You take that to an

5:13

entire new level and

5:16

you basically use your

5:18

home as a canvas

5:21

to create a living

5:23

, breathing vision board

5:25

when you're creating these sacred

5:27

spaces . So

5:30

let's start with why

5:32

, why do you want a sacred space

5:34

and what does it do ?

5:36

Reason we want a sacred space

5:39

, and you spoke of

5:41

this at the beginning , where you mentioned I work with professional

5:43

women , so , as women , I

5:45

know that we have these standards

5:48

of life that we want to create for ourselves

5:50

. There's a certain way we want to show up in our

5:52

relationships , in our parenting

5:54

, in our career , in our business , in

5:56

our friendships . I know that ambitious

6:00

women who just have

6:02

high standards for their life want

6:04

a lot out of life and are

6:06

working to become better versions

6:09

of themselves all of the time . But

6:11

what I have noticed is that a lot of women

6:14

who are in that space of desiring

6:16

that , of becoming that , their

6:18

physical space doesn't really match

6:20

that persona . It's like

6:23

I always explained this , like when you see

6:25

an actress in a movie , it's like the set

6:27

that is , her house matches

6:30

the character that she's playing . And

6:32

I feel like a lot of us are amazing at

6:34

work , amazing in our parenting , amazing

6:37

at so many things that we do , but yet our

6:39

house doesn't reflect that . And

6:41

so part of the reason

6:43

why a sacred space is really important

6:45

, it's because it becomes a mirror effect

6:47

and a reminder of who we are

6:49

working towards becoming , who

6:51

we are striving to be each

6:53

day as we're improving ourselves

6:55

, as we're bettering ourselves , and

6:58

not because we aren't already good enough

7:00

, because that's absolutely not what we're doing

7:02

, but because we're growing and we're evolving

7:04

and we are improving in our

7:07

lives , and so a sacred space

7:09

is an opportunity for seeing

7:11

that , becoming more aware of that

7:13

, of what we're working towards . A

7:16

sacred space is an opportunity to be more

7:18

intentional with how we

7:20

are doing everything from the most mundane

7:22

thing like getting our kids ready

7:25

for school and making dinner and

7:27

taking care of ourselves in the bathroom and all

7:29

the things that we do to adorn

7:31

our bodies and all of that . But it's

7:33

also about creating a space

7:35

of connection where we get to

7:38

also design the kind of family

7:40

culture we want to have , the kinds of

7:42

boundaries we're creating with

7:44

our children , with our partners . So

7:47

a sacred space is really a reflection

7:49

of what you are wanting out

7:51

of life , and

7:55

to me , that's why we create sacred spaces is because

7:57

we are manifesting

7:59

more in our life . You touched

8:01

on the vision board piece , which , yeah , I

8:03

absolutely love and I'll

8:05

love to get into that .

8:07

If you're ready , I'm ready because

8:09

, like I said , rana

8:11

, if you're listening , you

8:13

know that when you first invited me to

8:16

a vision board party

8:18

, I thought I'm going because I adore

8:20

you and this might be fun , doubted

8:24

the power of a vision board

8:27

and now I am a devotee

8:29

because it's it's amazing

8:31

experience . It's amazing what you can bring forth and

8:34

I'm super excited to hear about

8:36

how you turn your home into

8:39

a living , breathing vision board

8:41

.

8:42

Yeah , and I love that , because I too

8:45

had once upon a time

8:47

that skepticism around vision

8:49

boards or kind of just

8:51

like downgraded the power

8:53

of them and they were fun . But

8:55

I , you know , it would be the thing that you do you

8:57

have fun with your friends and then you put it in a closet

9:00

somewhere and then a few years later you find in

9:02

your like , oh yeah , this was fun , but nothing

9:04

really came of it . And so

9:06

the approach that I use is based

9:09

on Feng Shui , and that

9:11

is essentially an opportunity to

9:14

design your home

9:16

to match the intentions you

9:18

have for nine areas

9:20

of your life , and so we essentially

9:23

create a grid , like a tic-tac-toe

9:25

grid , with nine areas

9:27

from the floor plan of

9:29

your home , and

9:32

each of those grids , or guas

9:34

, which is the name in Feng Shui , is

9:36

a living , breathing

9:38

manifestation of your home

9:41

. That relates to an area of life

9:43

such as your career

9:45

, which is also your area of purpose

9:47

, of Dharma , like what you're here to do

9:49

in the world . There's an area of wisdom

9:52

and knowledge , which relates to

9:54

any skills that you're wanting to

9:57

learn , anything that you're doing

9:59

new in terms of a certification

10:01

, something you're learning , or

10:03

also relates to your spirituality

10:06

, your connection to a higher power

10:08

, your growth as a human . Then

10:11

we also have the area of friendships

10:13

and network and community

10:15

, which is really powerful when

10:17

you're in business who you meet

10:19

, who you get in relationship with , what

10:21

kinds of relationships are we cultivating

10:24

? Those are kind of like the foundational

10:26

questions about that area . Then

10:28

we have the area of children and

10:30

creativity , and this is an area of

10:33

parenting . Whether you have

10:35

children or not , oftentimes

10:37

it's about re-parenting yourself

10:39

and taking care of your inner child

10:42

, and it's also an area that sparks

10:44

creativity and energy of inspiration

10:47

, whether it's for work , for relationship

10:49

. We need creativity for everything . We

10:52

have in the center what we call

10:54

the area of well-being , and that's

10:56

pretty much mind , body , spirit . Where's

10:59

your health at , your mental health , your physical

11:01

health , your spiritual health ? In

11:03

the middle here on the left , I'm like very visual

11:06

, so I'm seeing the picture of the board

11:08

in my mind . We have

11:10

the new beginnings and family

11:12

area . This is usually an area where

11:15

we deal with our ancestors , where we

11:17

tune into forgiving the past

11:19

, improving our relationships with our family

11:22

, releasing anything that keeps us stuck

11:24

from our childhood , and then also

11:26

where we kind of create momentum for new

11:28

projects , new businesses , new ideas

11:31

, and then the last three that we

11:33

have at the very top is

11:35

your area of wealth and money

11:37

self-explanatory . Your

11:39

area of relationship , romance

11:42

, marriage and self-love

11:44

. And then , last but not least

11:46

, is the area of fame and reputation

11:49

. So how you want to be known in

11:51

the world and whether or not we're

11:53

in integrity meaning does how

11:55

people see me match how

11:57

I see myself . And so

12:00

all of that to say

12:02

that when clients

12:04

come to me , they might come to me because

12:06

they are struggling in their marriage

12:09

. They might come to me because they just want

12:11

their bedroom to look better and feel better

12:13

, regardless of the

12:15

energetic connection . They might not know what

12:18

that is yet , but I can tell

12:20

you that if the

12:22

marriage is struggling , that room

12:24

where the area of marriage and romance

12:27

is located in your house is

12:29

most likely the area that you neglect

12:31

. It's the room that you shove

12:33

everything into . It's the

12:35

room with the leaky roof that you haven't dealt

12:38

with . Is the room with all

12:40

of the things your mother-in-law left you when she

12:42

passed and you just didn't feel like . You

12:44

just felt guilty and didn't want to get rid of them

12:46

. There always

12:48

is . That mirror effect of what

12:51

is going on in your life is

12:53

being communicated through what's going on

12:55

in your home , and so that's

12:57

where the vision boarding comes in .

13:00

So let's . First of all , I'm super

13:03

fascinated by this and , as you're

13:05

speaking , I'm thinking about my own house . So

13:07

, as people are listening , they're like , huh

13:10

, this sounds interesting , maybe I'll

13:12

give this a shot . What would they start with ? They

13:14

would start with a tic-tac-toe

13:16

grid and would they just go into

13:18

one room , because trying

13:20

to do the whole house all at once sounds incredibly

13:23

overwhelming to me , and I'm

13:26

sure that it sounds really overwhelming to everybody

13:28

else , and they'll be like oh , I

13:30

can't do it all at once . So where

13:32

would they start ? Where would

13:34

they pick the area that in their

13:37

lives that they feel needs the most help

13:39

or is the most neglected ? This

13:42

guide is through . Where would we begin ? Hello

13:51

, my dearest community , I am so excited

13:54

to share with you that this week's episode is

13:56

brought to you by Crossbreed Beverage , the

13:59

trailblazing infused beverage that's

14:01

turning heads and transforming moments

14:03

. Now , first of all , I want to highlight

14:05

that federal regulations designate that

14:07

hemp is legal , but it is essential

14:09

to check your individual state regulations

14:11

. As we dive into the empowering

14:14

stories and experiences on women in the arena

14:16

, let's take a moment to appreciate our incredible

14:19

sponsor . Crossbreed Beverage isn't

14:21

just a drink . It's a revelation

14:23

, a perfect blend of refreshment and

14:25

elevation . Picture yourself

14:27

sipping on this game-changing elixir while

14:30

immersing yourself in the unique narratives

14:32

and voices that make our community so

14:34

special . Trust me , it's

14:36

a match made in podcast heaven . So

14:38

grab your Crossbreed Beverage , join

14:41

us in the arena and let's raise a glass to strength

14:43

, resilience and women doing extraordinary

14:46

things in plain sight .

14:54

Yeah , yeah , great question , and

14:57

I'll start by saying that anytime

14:59

we concentrate our intention

15:01

and our energy in one area of our

15:03

life , the ripple effects

15:05

of that fall

15:08

into all other areas of our life

15:10

. Typically , there's

15:12

three different ways to get

15:14

started . I would say the first

15:16

way is if there's a specific

15:18

area out of all those nines in your

15:20

life that you really feel

15:22

like is the one you need the most support with

15:25

. Maybe it's your finances , and prosperity

15:27

is a thing that you really need to have support

15:29

with now . Maybe

15:31

it's getting a job , because you really

15:33

focus on getting a job . Maybe it's

15:36

fixing your marriage , because something's

15:38

got to give and you're at a point where it's either

15:40

I'm saying or I'm leaving , like if there's a specific

15:43

thing in your life personally that's happening

15:45

, start with that area . If

15:48

there is a room in

15:50

your home that it's just the one room

15:52

that you really either have a genuine

15:54

desire to make better and improve

15:57

let's pay attention to that kind of

15:59

intuitive knowing that that room

16:01

you really want to work on or maybe

16:03

it's the room in your house that you just know

16:05

something's got to be done because you've been procrastinating

16:08

on it forever one room

16:10

. The third path is

16:12

the path where you might not know where to start

16:14

, but you're really , really curious . My

16:17

suggestion is always start

16:19

at the center , which is mind

16:22

, body and spirit , because that really encompasses

16:25

everything in your life . That

16:28

would be the starting point for anyone

16:30

that resonates with either option A

16:32

, b or C .

16:34

Let's start with one that's an obvious one , because everybody

16:37

will probably really

16:40

resonate with this , which is money , because

16:42

you would always want more

16:44

money . Let's

16:47

face it , the last year and a half has been

16:49

probably challenging in that area , because

16:51

we were dealing with inflation and

16:53

the rising cost of groceries

16:55

, of gas . Everything has been more expensive

16:58

and wages haven't necessarily

17:00

risen at the same rate that the cost

17:03

of goods has . Walk us through

17:05

what that would look like to redo

17:08

the wealth

17:11

area to welcome in

17:13

more prosperity

17:15

or even maybe more organization

17:17

in your finances .

17:19

Okay , great question . As

17:21

always with any of these transcendental

17:24

remedies for life , there's

17:26

never a black and white answer . There's

17:29

multiple ways to address that . The

17:31

prosperity corner is

17:33

usually a corner that relates to

17:35

long-term wealth . Usually , when

17:37

we think of that area of life , we're

17:40

thinking around investments

17:42

, we're thinking about up-leveling in our finances

17:45

. Most likely , if someone is

17:47

struggling with money like

17:49

you , feel like you just need to generate more money

17:51

, generate more income right away . I would

17:54

suggest working with two other areas

17:56

first . The first area

17:58

typically is the career

18:00

and purpose area , because

18:03

that lets us kind of bring

18:06

awareness to are you enjoying

18:08

the job that you have ? Are you enjoying

18:10

the work that you have , which is a

18:12

really powerful energy to manifest

18:14

more money in our life we might go

18:16

into ? Are you really living

18:18

your purpose and are you being

18:21

generous with what you give and the value

18:23

that you give , because that's a direct

18:26

correlation to how much you're

18:28

able to receive as well . Then

18:30

, another area we might work on is the

18:33

daily flow of money . If we're just

18:35

talking about paying the bills and getting

18:37

that cash flow consistently , that

18:40

area typically is the area of new

18:42

beginnings , because

18:44

I know that a lot of people listening might not

18:46

have the map right in front of them and they don't

18:48

yet know what that area looks like . There's

18:50

a few very practical things that they can

18:52

start applying right now to bring

18:54

that cash of money in . One

18:57

thing is making sure that all your light

18:59

bulbs in your house are working

19:01

. How many times do we walk

19:03

by the one little sconce on the one

19:05

little lamp and we're like , dang , this thing doesn't have

19:07

a bulb and we just move on . Then

19:09

, day after day , we're like there's no

19:11

light here , this one's burned out . Checking

19:14

all your light bulbs gray way to activate

19:16

some money coming into your life . Making

19:19

sure that you don't have any leaks in any

19:21

of your faucets , sinks , plumbing

19:24

because that literally translates

19:26

as money leaking and leaving

19:28

your bank account . Paying

19:30

attention to any leaks . Gutters

19:32

outside of the house working well

19:35

, holes in the roof that's a big

19:37

one . In Florida , where I live , a lot of people have

19:39

holes in the roof from hurricanes and stuff

19:41

. Fixing that is really , really important

19:44

. And then , activating

19:46

a sense of prosperity is

19:49

something that happens subconsciously

19:51

. And one little ritual I give all

19:53

my clients , in fact , inside

19:55

of my coaching program . This is a non-negotiable

19:58

for all my clients in order to

20:00

qualify for a guarantee in

20:02

falling in love with their home and life with

20:05

me during the timeframe of the program , which

20:07

is nine weeks , and this non-negotiable

20:09

ritual is having weekly flowers

20:12

in your space . It's

20:14

buying yourself weekly flowers

20:16

and something really magical happens

20:19

. That was probably the first kind

20:21

of vision boarding ritual that I

20:23

included in my life and it's number

20:26

one this sense of abundance

20:29

that we feel when we buy ourselves flowers

20:31

. Right , a lot of people feel like that's

20:33

just for special occasions or

20:36

it's a splurge , they're too expensive

20:38

and it's like not a necessity . But

20:41

when we invest in ourselves in that

20:43

way and we just treat ourselves in that way

20:45

, not only are we acknowledging

20:47

that we are worthy of abundance in our

20:49

life , but we are also sending

20:51

our subconscious a message that there's

20:54

beauty around us , because just

20:56

looking at flowers instantly kind

20:58

of creates a cocktail of hormones in your

21:00

brain that makes you feel good . They're just beautiful

21:02

to look at , and so that's one

21:04

of the most powerful little prosperity

21:07

rituals that you can also

21:09

apply in your weekly routine

21:11

to activate prosperity into your

21:13

life .

21:14

Any flowers like . It doesn't have to be this big

21:16

, expensive bouquet . You can have grocery

21:19

store flowers and nothing against grocery store flowers

21:21

, because a lot of them have really come up

21:23

in the world and they're really beautiful . So

21:25

it could be a

21:27

really simple bouquet that you get at

21:30

the store or something extravagant .

21:32

Anything . It can be anything

21:34

you want . It does not have to be some

21:36

fancy floral shop bouquet

21:38

. You could literally go to your backyard

21:41

and pick a couple of flowers from

21:43

your garden and put them on a pretty base

21:45

. Trader Joe's has amazing flowers

21:47

for $2.99 , $3.99

21:49

, so it does not have to be opulent

21:52

by any means . It's more of

21:54

the habit that

21:56

you are creating . It's more of the

21:58

intention behind something you do

22:01

repetitively , so that

22:03

you're sending that abundant

22:05

message to your subconscious and really

22:07

embodying that feeling

22:09

.

22:10

That's so easy and it and a first at first

22:12

. When you say it , I'm thinking , wow , that sounds indulgent

22:15

, but Anytime

22:19

I have flowers in the house , it

22:21

instantly lifts my mood Every

22:24

single time . So

22:26

, yeah , matter what room you put it in , or

22:29

just so you can see it .

22:30

Just so you can see it . I personally

22:33

love having them in the kitchen because that

22:35

seems to be a place where I spend a lot of our

22:37

time , and then you know the ripple

22:39

effect of that that subtle

22:41

transcendental energy is also being

22:43

absorbed by everyone who is in the home . I

22:46

have them everywhere . I have

22:48

them in my bedroom , I have them in my bathroom

22:51

, but if there is one place I would

22:53

say probably the kitchen or

22:55

the entryway as well , because this is

22:57

the space that kind of greets

22:59

you when you walk into your house and

23:02

it also can't create this like symbolism

23:04

of Letting go and like leaving

23:07

behind whatever energy I just went through

23:09

, like if you work outside of the home and you're

23:11

coming back home . It's just like this

23:13

transition point of I am here

23:15

and this is a sacred space

23:17

. I don't need to bring in all the negative

23:19

energy that maybe I just went through

23:21

outside in the world . So entryway

23:24

is a great place for transitions , and

23:26

then the kitchen , just because it's typically the heart

23:28

of the home .

23:30

So , just to recap , see

23:32

easy things to do Change

23:35

all your light bulbs , make sure all your light bulbs

23:37

are working . Check for leaks

23:39

if you have a leaky faucet , running

23:42

toilet , go get those fixed holes

23:44

in the roof . Any holes that you might have in

23:46

the roof , go go get them patched , which

23:49

just sounds logical , quite frankly

23:51

. And

23:53

last , have

23:55

fresh flowers in the home every single

23:58

week . Non-negotiable , because that

24:00

brings in abundance , it

24:03

brings in beauty and , for

24:05

me personally , it lowers my blood pressure

24:08

Instantly .

24:09

Yeah , yeah , yeah

24:11

, I mean , there's studies around how

24:14

you know your cortisol levels lower

24:16

when you look at flowers . There's studies

24:19

around that to the point where many

24:21

hospitals have implemented having

24:23

Fake flowers , just because they

24:25

don't they're not allowed to do real flowers

24:27

and a lot of them and there's all these other logistics

24:30

. But it is a scientific

24:32

thing that they just create a different

24:34

, a different way of seeing the

24:36

world and physically it changes your Physicality

24:39

. So it's an awesome thing .

24:41

So if we do all these things , what

24:43

would we do next ? I mean , I

24:46

I'm thinking of all these things like this I could do this , I

24:48

could do this stuff in an afternoon , and

24:50

then it's Encouraging

24:52

and it's wants to . It

24:55

motivates me to want to do more .

24:57

So yes , exactly

25:00

so . I love that because typically

25:02

, those small little steps

25:04

that we make create momentum

25:06

for Bigger things , and

25:09

so that's why I always start with those small

25:11

non-negotiables . Let's start with those

25:13

big sell it small celebration so that

25:15

we can move forward . The next step , I would

25:17

say , is probably relief

25:19

, the releasing clutter and

25:22

Removing clutter from the home , specifically

25:24

for money , but honestly , for all

25:27

areas of life , clutter

25:29

is literally Keeping

25:32

us stuck . There is so

25:34

much emotional baggage that

25:36

comes with clutter there's a lot

25:38

of just past memories

25:41

, emotions so much

25:43

that it's just not letting us move forward

25:45

. So , because we're in a time

25:47

in the world where consumerism

25:50

is a huge part of our day-to-day , people

25:52

have bigger houses , people have bigger

25:55

incomes , a lot of times are at least more

25:57

disposable , exposable income . There's credit cards

25:59

and all the things that we did not have

26:01

once upon a time , and then , of course , we also have

26:03

Amazon Prime . So in just the

26:05

click of a button you can get so much stuff

26:08

. We are inundated by clutter . I would say

26:10

that is the number one thing that

26:12

people struggle with in their home life

26:14

. What what is happening is that

26:16

it's increasing our stress levels , is

26:19

stagnating our ability to receive

26:22

, because when we have no space

26:24

in our heart , in our mind and

26:26

in our home To receive something better

26:28

than it just doesn't come , it doesn't

26:31

manifest . And so Even

26:33

when I do vision vision board

26:35

workshops , like the literal vision work

26:37

Workshop , we always start with a release

26:40

what did not serve me from this past

26:42

year ? What do I need to let go of

26:44

? The way I address dealing with clutter

26:47

in your life and your

26:49

home and quieting your mind

26:51

and your home is through taking

26:53

honest , radical responsibility

26:56

of where you are at and

26:58

taking inventory of these

27:00

areas of your life , like if you were

27:02

to say on a scale of one to ten

27:04

how happy and satisfied you

27:06

are with your career , with

27:08

your marriage , with your parenting

27:10

, with your fitness , your self care

27:13

. You know all these areas . Give

27:15

yourself an honest reflection and

27:18

if you have anything that's under four

27:20

or four and under and I

27:22

Feel like five and seven

27:25

doesn't count because that's kind of like mediocre

27:27

space , so it's either really bad or really

27:29

good , but in the middle , like why are we even settling

27:31

for that ? That we need to pay attention . So that

27:34

that that's from the life kind of

27:36

perspective in the home clutter

27:38

perspective . We

27:40

want to look at clutter in terms of

27:42

clutter is a very subjective

27:45

thing . Clutter is anything that

27:47

you don't love , anything that you don't use

27:49

, anything that you don't need . I'm

27:51

not saying we all have to have these like minimalist

27:54

spaces by any means . That's not

27:56

what I'm saying . But I am saying you

27:59

probably have more than you need , love

28:01

or use , and so how can

28:03

we create room and release that

28:05

so that more blessings come your way

28:07

? So clean out your closet , your closet

28:09

, your kitchen . Your garage is a huge

28:12

one , your bathroom cabinets

28:14

are huge , your closet particularly

28:17

. Actually , clutter in the closet

28:19

speaks of lack

28:22

of authenticity in how you're showing

28:24

up in your life . It also often

28:26

speaks of just subconscious

28:29

events , moments , situations

28:32

that you haven't dealt with , that you're

28:34

just keeping like in a little box

28:36

here without you're addressing them . So

28:38

yeah , clutter in the closet is a great space

28:40

to start .

28:41

Is it too early to start this ? Because I'm you

28:43

know people are listening to this

28:45

in January , but

28:48

it sounds like to me that

28:50

the earlier you start the better

28:52

, because then it frees

28:55

up this congested

28:57

energy and

29:00

allows you to be

29:03

creative faster . Or am

29:05

I just ? Or am I hearing

29:07

things ? Am I jumping to conclusions ?

29:09

No , you're not jumping to conclusions by any

29:11

mean . I mean , at some point , when you start

29:13

working really closely with this energy

29:15

map and the home and life kind of

29:17

approach , what

29:19

happens is you start walking your home

29:22

with a deeper perspective of what's

29:24

going on right . So , like now , I know that

29:26

if at any point maybe things aren't

29:29

flowing so great in my relationships

29:31

, maybe we are arguing more

29:33

than we normally argue , or we're feeling

29:35

like more disconnected than we normally are

29:37

, it almost

29:40

always tells me that

29:42

something's happening in my room

29:44

at that same time . And sometimes I don't even realize

29:47

that this is happening in my relationship

29:49

until I walk into my room and

29:52

I'm like , oh my gosh , this pile of laundry

29:54

. I haven't dealt with these sheets , I haven't

29:56

washed in a while these maybe vase

29:58

of flowers that needed to be

30:00

changed a couple of days ago and they're

30:02

just kind of sitting there because I haven't had the time

30:04

. You just start seeing the relation

30:07

and as soon as I clear that maybe

30:09

a conversation happens between my partner

30:12

and I , as soon as I clear that maybe

30:14

a nice gesture of sit or for

30:16

the kids , let's go have dinner tonight happens

30:19

, something shifts in my life

30:21

when the physical space is devoted

30:23

to and addressed and taken care of

30:25

. Again , back to those non-negotiables

30:27

. One of my non-negotiables inside

30:29

of my program is decluttering

30:32

or I call it quieting , because it sounds

30:34

less overwhelming for 15

30:36

minutes , where you literally are putting a

30:38

timer for 15 minutes every

30:40

day at some point of your day

30:42

. It's a non-negotiable , and

30:44

you're just going to address the junk drawer

30:47

in the kitchen , the drawer

30:49

in the bathroom , maybe the closet

30:51

, in only 15 minutes . That's all I'm

30:53

asking . It doesn't have to be a whole weekend

30:56

, maybe it's one cabinet in the kitchen

30:58

, one little area for

31:00

15 minutes . And you will be so

31:03

surprised , in a matter of 15

31:05

, 20 days , 30 days , how

31:08

much you have released from your

31:10

space and from your life and shifts the energy

31:12

so much with just 15 minutes

31:15

.

31:15

So you don't have to walk into your closet

31:17

and go . I'm so overwhelmed . You

31:20

can walk into a little piece of your closet and

31:22

say I'm just going to deal with this spot right here . Absolutely

31:24

, you can do that . Yes , like

31:27

I said , doing these little things

31:30

will motivate you to want to do the next

31:32

15 minutes and the next 15 minutes , and

31:35

maybe you have an

31:37

afternoon that you

31:39

have available to you and it gives

31:41

you time to do your whole closet . If

31:44

you're anything like me , when I tear my closet

31:46

apart it takes me all day , but

31:48

that's because I'm tackling it all at once , but

31:50

once it's done , I feel so

31:53

much better . Yeah , I've shed

31:55

something or I've released

31:57

something . I

32:01

love giving away donations

32:03

. It's amazing Every time

32:05

I clean up my closet and I'm thinking there

32:08

can't be that much in here , but there are

32:10

always is , yeah , and I ask myself

32:12

this . is this doing

32:14

me any good ? If it's not , is it doing

32:16

any good hanging in my closet

32:19

where somebody else could use it , Right ? And

32:24

if the answer is yes , somebody else can use

32:26

it in the donations . It goes , yeah , yeah .

32:30

And you know I'm all about taking a full day

32:32

to tackle a project like that . If that's the kind of person

32:34

that you are and you have time for it , go for it . I

32:37

absolutely love that . However

32:41

, the reason I share the 15

32:43

minute non-negotiable is because again

32:45

those small repetitive tasks become new habits , and

32:50

then what I have found is that it's

32:52

then a lot easier to sustain that nice clutter free closet and

32:54

keeping your space the way you want , as opposed to doing just a full week and

32:56

a makeover and then a month later it's

32:58

back to being cluttered and then you have

33:00

to do it all over again . So when we create these habits , it's

33:02

a lot more sustainable long term .

33:09

That makes perfect sense , and

33:12

I'll let everybody into a secret that I like to do to help

33:14

me motivate to do this stuff , because

33:16

I also motivate my friends to do this . So

33:18

my birthday is in June and I always

33:20

throw myself a birthday party A

33:24

couple of weeks leading up

33:26

to my birthday party . I ask all my

33:28

friends to do this . I always throw myself a birthday party

33:30

and then I'm just

33:32

leading up to my birthday party , I

33:35

ask all my friends that are coming clean out your closets . Please

33:41

clean out your closets and bring all the donations

33:44

to my house on the day of my birthday party

33:46

, because then I'm going to take them to a donation center and

33:50

then that's fun .

33:51

I love that Because

33:53

they're like great I'm going to

33:56

clean out my closet and I'm going to a party . I'm

33:58

going to have a wonderful way to encourage your friends and power

34:00

them to do that and support

34:02

someone who will treasure your

34:04

trash . I always say your trash is

34:06

someone else's treasure .

34:08

So amazing we're cleaning out clutter , we're

34:11

giving ourselves flowers . What's one more step

34:13

that you can share with us , that

34:15

we can basically set ourselves

34:18

up for success for the next ?

34:19

12 months . I think one more thing

34:22

that you could do to set yourself

34:24

up for success is

34:26

to create one corner

34:29

somewhere in your home

34:32

that becomes your

34:34

own sacred space to sit

34:36

for five minutes and

34:38

journal . To sit for five

34:40

minutes and enjoy a nice cup of coffee

34:43

or tea . To sit for five

34:45

minutes and read five

34:47

pages of a book that inspires you . I'm

34:49

really , really big on self-development

34:52

and I have found that when you can

34:55

choose one designated space

34:57

for reflection or falling

34:59

apart if you need to , for celebrating

35:02

if you want to , whatever the

35:04

moment calls for , that

35:07

one space that becomes

35:09

your sanctuary is a must . So

35:11

claim it . It can be a chair

35:13

in a corner , keep it pretty

35:15

, maybe your flowers go there . It's

35:17

just like your one space that

35:20

you claim for you to

35:22

spend time with you . And

35:24

again , that repetition of being

35:26

in the same spot and doing the same

35:28

thing over and over and over starts

35:31

creating traction and it starts to

35:33

become memorized by not

35:35

just your mind but also your body . So

35:37

to me , that's yeah , that's a powerful

35:39

little ritual to have and

35:42

a beautiful corner of sacred

35:44

intention in your home to have as well .

35:46

Could it be outside too , because some

35:48

people have very , very busy

35:51

, noisy households and the

35:53

only place you can stay

35:55

is outside on the patio . So

35:57

is that okay too ?

35:58

100% , 100% . The

36:00

outside of your home is also part of

36:02

the map , so I would be curious to

36:05

know what area of the

36:07

outside someone would choose , what

36:09

area of life that designates

36:11

to and is about . But

36:13

absolutely sitting outside I mean

36:15

also being in nature is a wonderful

36:17

way to recharge and to

36:19

take care of yourself and your mental health and

36:21

connect with Mother Earth .

36:23

So I'm all about it being outside

36:25

, for sure , paula thank you for , first

36:27

of all , spending this time with me this afternoon . I'm

36:30

super excited for the audience to

36:32

hear this and to create

36:34

opportunity and space for them

36:36

for growth , for renewal , for

36:39

additional opportunity , because

36:41

, as you and I spoke before , I do not believe

36:44

in this idea of new year

36:46

new year . I hate that message

36:48

. I think that message is ridiculous

36:50

, because there is nothing wrong

36:53

with you . You don't need a whole new one , you

36:55

just need opportunity to improve . So

36:58

I am certainly looking

37:01

forward to doing all these little tricks that you've

37:03

just taught us today , which , by the

37:05

way , cost very little money . It

37:07

could cost a lot of money if you have flowers in your backyard

37:10

. Yep

37:14

, 100% .

37:16

Exactly 100% and I agree

37:18

. I do not like that message of new

37:21

year new year either .

37:22

I think 1% better each day

37:24

is all it takes If the audience

37:26

is intrigued and is like huh

37:28

, I want to learn more about this . Paula , you've

37:30

got something . You got something here

37:33

. I want to learn more from you and I want to

37:35

learn more about this creating a

37:37

sacred space . Where would they reach

37:39

you to get more information ?

37:40

The best place to go is my website

37:43

, sacredinteriorsdesign

37:45

, and in there you're going

37:47

to find information around all my

37:49

coaching programs and also

37:52

my Facebook community , which is where

37:54

I go live every week and we

37:56

do trainings on all Q&As

37:59

from clients , from people who

38:01

are interested in this kind of self-development

38:03

and interior design world . That's going to be

38:05

the best place to go , sacredinteriorsdesign

38:08

, and there's also a blog

38:10

on there where you can find

38:12

out how to create this

38:15

energy plan for your home so

38:17

that you can start kind of becoming aware of

38:19

what area of life each

38:21

room in your home falls into .

38:23

What I'll do just to make life easier is I'm

38:25

going to take those links for your website

38:28

and for your Facebook page . I'll link those in

38:30

the show notes . So everybody please go look

38:32

in the show notes and I will have

38:34

those two links to those

38:36

two groups for a website and to our Facebook group

38:38

. I'm really curious to watch

38:40

one of your Facebook lives because I think that would

38:42

be super fascinating and

38:45

really interesting to hear more and learn

38:47

more as we start to not

38:49

only recreate opportunity

38:52

in our homes but also in our lives

38:55

. So I'm very excited about

38:57

that . Well , this is my favorite part

38:59

of the show . Very , very favorite part

39:01

of my show is I

39:03

get to step back from the mic and

39:06

let you have an intimate

39:09

moment directly with the audience without

39:11

me interrupting . So , pahla

39:13

, the microphone is yours .

39:15

Okay , this is really interesting . I

39:18

like it If I could spend some of

39:20

this time with your audience . To

39:22

just share a message of inspiration

39:24

is to have the courage

39:27

to look at your life . Have

39:29

the courage to look at your space

39:31

with self-compassion , with radical

39:33

accountability and because

39:35

we are co-creating our destiny

39:38

in our life . What is not working

39:40

in your life ? Be really honest what

39:42

do you want to release and let go

39:45

from last year , from the last 10

39:47

years of your life , and

39:49

what would you like to plant a seed

39:51

for in this next 12

39:54

months ? What would you like to plant a seed

39:56

for , even in the next three

39:58

months ? What does that look like

40:00

? And pour all your heart

40:02

, blood , tears and energy

40:05

into that one thing Figure

40:07

out where that area is in your home . Put

40:10

all your love into keeping that area

40:12

beautiful so that you feel

40:14

connected and inspired to that

40:16

vision of that one goal

40:19

you have in mind . And

40:21

then let me know how it goes , because

40:23

I am so absolutely sure that

40:25

when you take the time and energy

40:28

to do that , something powerful

40:30

happens and the universe responds

40:33

to your call . So that's gonna

40:35

be what I'm gonna leave you all with .

40:37

Thank you . I'm really excited

40:40

and curious to hear what

40:42

the audience's experiences are , so

40:44

please pass them on to me as well . I really

40:46

want to know , and I will pass on my

40:48

experiences to all of you , because

40:51

if this is a living , breathing vision

40:53

board , I promise you , even to

40:55

the greatest skeptics , which I was

40:57

, vision boards actually

41:00

work . So turn your entire

41:02

home into a living

41:04

, breathing vision board and please

41:06

let us know , because we definitely want to

41:08

hear your experience 100% . Paula

41:10

, once again , thank you very much for

41:12

being here and sharing all of this amazing

41:15

wisdom and information with

41:17

us and allowing us to

41:19

create a

41:21

new path for us as

41:23

we co-create , as you said , a

41:26

destiny that is worthy

41:28

of us .

41:29

Beautiful . Yes , thank you . Thank you

41:31

for having me and thank you for the work that you're doing

41:33

in the world . I appreciate you .

41:35

Thank you , I appreciate you and

41:37

I appreciate all of you for listening and

41:39

we'll see you again next time .
