So we previewed our upcoming Instagram project on Monday and as part of that I've been finding interesting people on Instagram who seem like they have a purpose, that big WHY, and are doing bits, and direct messaging them. So I've been engaging with them on Insta and arranging a time and place (usually in or around London) to meet up and do an interview and take their portrait.

So it was only into the 3rd one of these that I realised what a funny new situation i'm putting myself in everyday - meeting strangers and getting them to open up to me about their life! It's been great and they've all been successful so far :)

This got me thinking about how i've been watching the recordings back and analysing my own performance and extracting the reason why i've somehow managed to get each person to trust and open up to me right away.

I've also looked into some books and articles on the subject and combined these with my own thoughts to give you 2 main techniques (or at least things to think about) in having great conversations with new people and creating a comfortable easy environment for them to open up.
