Do you like history? Do you like crime? Do you want your murderers 100% dead and unable to harm further? Then do I have the pod for you. Madison and Lindsay dig up old stories of poisonings, executions, and general deathiness to keep you entertained. True Crime meets History on this wonderful pod.
This is a show about strange and unusual crimes of the past. ‘I myself am strange and unusual’ so this immediately piqued my interest. The show, after a quick pre-roll, begins with a suitably olden, creepy theme and brief introductions from the hosts. Less than five minutes in, it’s in to the main feature of the episode, the case. The hosts explain where they got their information from before beginning which is a lovely touch (they also link to the sources in the show notes). The cases themselves are well-researched and the hosts present the details thoroughly whilst also offering their own commentary on the events.About half way through the episode there was a listener question of the week section. This is a really nice opportunity to interact with the hosts. The hosts themselves are comfortable with each other, bounce off of each other well and make each other laugh (they’re sisters after all). All of this helps you to switch off and enjoy the show. There was also a fun fact section which helps to break up the serious business and teach you a few things. A lot of work clearly goes in to this show.Overall, this is an enjoyable and interesting dive in to the stranger crimes of days past.
Funny. So damn funny. Probably can't curse in a review, but if we could we would say they are so #$@&ing funny. Lindsay and Madison are great. Can we curse in a review? We'll never know.
This is definitely one of the most unique podcasts I've ever listened to. For one thing, the hosts are very funny and great together (it probably helps that they are sisters). But the thing that really makes it stand out is that they only cover stories from before 1900, so I hadn't heard about most of the stories they tell, and I'm always learning something new when I listen. They're also very active on Twitter. I kept updating them on my progress and it was exciting seeing their excitement. I can't recommend this podcast enough!
If I had to choose four things I like then it's the bizarre, the historical, the criminal and the funny and Ye Olde Crime delivers all four, every week. Keep up the good work
"Where we discuss the funny, strange, and obscure crimes of yesteryear"What's it about?Well, gentle readers, as the tagline says, it's about mostly creepy and weird stuff of the past. As someone who's own podcast is dedicated to the classical stuff - it's super interesting to me listen to this podcast because there might even be times when the book I'm working on falls under the same time period that they're discussing. Honestly, they talk about a lot of things - not just crimes of yesteryear - but just a lot of historical stuff that I myself find interesting.Who are the hosts? The hosts are two sisters, Lindsey and Madison, who quite frankly have such a good rapport that you can't help but feel like you're friends with them while your listening to the stories that they're sharing. It definitely helps that they're hilarious. Why should you listen to them?Because they do their research and it's just a whole lot of fun to get into. Personally, for me I really, really enjoy myths and legends and I just like learning about the little different creepy stuff that they've discovered. So if you're into that, then why not give them a try!Suggested EpisodeEpisode 9: Terror of South China. Pirates? Asian Pirates? Female Asian Pirates? Come on, that ticks ALL of my boxes.Where can I find them?Anywhere you can find podcasts, but more specifically: Ye Olde Crime PodcastOriginally posted at: https://www.classicaladventuresfor.one/blog/podcast-promo-ye-olde-crime/
Lindsay and Madison are really great together. You would think that being sisters, they would automatically have chemistry, and they do, but that's not always the case. That's why it was so awesome to listen to them talk about random true crime topics from the way back when. I truly enjoyed the Terror of the South China Seas episode. So good. Not enough praise or recommendation in the world to do these two justice. Listen and find out for yourself.
These two are incredible. Obscure is definitely the right word for the cases they cover. Weevils? Cows? If you hadn't guessed, I am talking about The State vs Spot. They both do their research and the way that they work together makes every episode entertaining, even when what they're talking about is just the other side of unpleasant.Definitely listen to the episodes, they will entertain and educate (I certainly have learnt a few things).
The hosts have an easygoing manner and giggle-inducing banter. The concept ironically brings a fresh take to the true crime genre considering how unfresh the crimes themselves are. I enjoy this show a lot!
Ye Olde Crime excels by the energy and rapport of its hosts. They're funny and engaging. What also helps is the variety of cases that are dated and lesser known. As such, the subject matter is often very interesting. Give them a listen and subscribe now!
These ladies are awesome! I loved their vibe and energy they have together. Very well researched and awesome story telling. I listened to their Nursery Rhyme to Die for episode first and was captivated by the way they told the story. Can’t wait to keep listening!!
As someone who is into true crime and into history AND likes to laugh- this podcast hits the spot. They dig up some of the most interesting cases and are well researched in the topic! Lovie it.
Ok. These two seriously crack me up! The stories are usually weird ones that I've never heard before. I love that they designed an entire podcast around pre-1900 crimes, cuz some of these are MESSED UP, but they're soooo entertaining. Not to mention, the laughter between these two is highly contagious! Dedicated listener for sure
There's a lot of true crime podcasts out there, but this one stands out. Lindsay and Madison are amazing, hilarious hosts who bring to light true crime stories not covered by most other podcasts. Easy subscribe!
Ye Olde Crime is just one of those shows that the moment you hit the play button and get sucked in this time vortex of awesomeness. The hosts are funny and witty and truly paints a picture to some crimes from yesteryear. (PS the cramp episodes are to die for and it's an absolute blast). CHECK THEM OUT.
True crime with a spin!
Lindsay and Madison will be your new besties. They'll call you and read the scripts for new episodes long before they're released. They'll send cases of wine. They'll buy you a new puppy!!Just take a minute and listen to the show. You'll be glad you did. Also, the wine and the puppy and all that? I might not have accurately stated all of that. Just go listen. Hurry.
My mom loves old time stories and I told her about this podcast and she loves it!! The stories are mind blowing!!
Genuinely such fun to listen to! The hosts have such great energy and vibe off each other so well. You feel like you're part of it and in the room with them. The stories are very well researched and wonderfully told. Love it!
This is a fantastic program. A look at the crimes of the past, that will definitely make you laugh. A part of my weekly rotation.
