This may be an unpopular opinion, but I decided to give this podcast a second chance, listened to about 5 old and new episodes, and I just can't get into it. Listening feels like when you're in that friend group where everyone keeps interrupting each other after every sentence to go off on yet another tangent, most of which are off topic - except that you aren't actually a part of the friend group and aren't a part of the conversation. The longer it goes on the more you want them to just get on with it and get to the point. I came back here after listening to two of the hosts guest on another podcast, where they were so eloquent, where every single thing they said was extremely knowledgeable, thought-provoking, and fascinating. I now think that that was more a reflection of that podcast's host's ability to moderate the conversation, and without him, maybe half an hour is nuanced discussion, and the other hour of an episode is (imo) not-funny banter.
It was a decently interesting story, but it was a little difficult to listen to just because the production value felt lower than a typical Spooked episode. The guest sounded extremely nervous, stuttering, pausing mid-sentence, and frequently nervous-laughing. It came across almost unrehearsed, and it reminded me of when a friend is telling you a story but where you keep waiting for them to get on with it. Also, the music probably didn't help. It sounded like the type of slow instrumentals that they play during meditation or during shavasana at the end of yoga, which brought down the energy and ambiance.
tl;dl Story teller invites a malevolent spirit into their home for kicks and giggles, doubles and triples down on it, and then acts shocked Pikachu when things start to go awry. Oh no. Who could have predicted this?
