Jimmy Yu, also known by his Dharma name Guo Gu, is a Buddhist teacher, scholar, and author. He is the founder and teacher of the Tallahassee Chan Center in Florida and a professor of religion at Florida State University, where his academic work focuses on Chinese Buddhism, Chan (Zen), and contemplative studies. A Dharma heir of Chan Master Sheng Yen, he trained extensively in both monastic and lay settings. Yu has published several works on Buddhist thought and practice, including “Passing Through the Gateless Barrier” and “Silent Illumination: A Chan Buddhist Path to Natural Awakening.” His recent projects combine scholarly research with meditation-based community education.
