Eric T. Jennings is a Distinguished Professor of the History of France and the Francophonie at the University of Toronto, recognized for his extensive scholarship on colonialism, decolonization, and transnational movements within the French Empire. His research explores cultural exchange, migration, and political transformation across French territories in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. Jennings is the author of several acclaimed books, including Free French Africa in World War II, Imperial Heights: Dalat and the Making and Undoing of French Indochina, and Escape from Vichy: The Refugee Exodus to the French Caribbean, which have earned international recognition for their depth and originality in modern French and colonial history.
