Rick Bass is a writer and environmental activist. Bass spent one year as a Wildlife Biologist in Arkansas, then became an oil and gas geologist and consultant, and then a writer and teacher. Bass has published short stories, essays, novels, and memoirs. His first book, "The Deer Pasture," was published in 1996. Bass received his B.Sc. in Geology with a focus in Wildlife from Utah State University.
