So, true story – back in ’09 when my then Girlfriend and I were getting our noses wet with creating podcasts (we began in the Gaming genre), a lovely lady called Julie approached us and helped us with some audio tips. I listened to her 19 Nocturne Boulevard Podcast and was, of course, completely blown away – and I told my GF “We will never be as good as this”.Fast forward 12 years and my (now) Wife and I have a Podcast in the Audio Drama space and 19 Nocturne Boulevard is still here, and Julie is still helping people and I still tell my Wife “We will never be as good as this”You can pick any of insane amount of episodes available, the sound design is first rate. One that sticks out is “Where are You Now” (recently re-issued) – an eccentric, dark episode encapsulated in a dreamy sound-scape. It is of the highest quality….and then I read it was created in a week! In a Week?? Wow!
I've been listening to Julie's audio dramas for over 10 years now. She has made some of the best Lovecraft dramas out there.
Great podcast and wonderful acting. Julie is one of the best voice actors there is. True story, I was playing one of her podcasts to a friend who is blind. She said, 'I know this actress, I have heard her before, she narrates stories. I enjoy her readings.'Definitely give this series a listen
19 Nocturne Boulevard is the OG of audio podcast dramas and a Master class in creative and technical work. For creator J.H. to make a worthy listen and not charge, ( donations are grateful I'm sure ) is amazing for someone starting out as a hobbyist back in the day.Just my Opinion.Listening to early content. Writing, producing and getting actors while voicing many characters and editing has to be time intensive. Great job.
One of the best anthology series with and incredibly deep back catalog of shows and consistently fine writing and acting.
The podcast is not award-winning for nothing. Much love and hard work is put into this and it is a staple for my listening week. Like peanut butter. 😄
Came for the Cosmic Horror, stayed for the Romantic Comedy.I came across this podcast many years ago now, I think through searching for audio adaptations of the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. I was quickly taken with the quality of the productions, with their full casts of excellent actors, their high production values, their great use of sound effects, and the sheer amount and variety of episodes. Though mostly speculative fiction of various kinds this anthology podcast ranges across many genres, with some of my favourites being perfectly conventional and highly entertaining romantic comedies.Thoroughly recommended.
Fantastic anthology with a classic feel. The writing is quality, the performances feel like the actors are having fun with the material, and the backlog of episodes is damn impressive. The stories span from dramas to thrillers to horror, but each has a certain wry charm. I'm hard pressed to find an episode I don't find charming.
I got pulled in with the Fatal Girl series and now looking forward to listening to all of the episodes on this list. Great production quality! Fun stories and characters!
I keep going back to 19 Nocturne Blvd because all the episodes are so good, although I vacillate between her 1930-ish screwball-ish because I love the banter, to the Lovecraft episodes that she produces so well. She generously supports others on the podcast, so there is a wide range of episodes. You will become a repeat visitor.
Top notch podcaster!Love her Lovecraft readings and especially her Lovecraft 5 adaptions.Have a listen.
Julie Hoverson is terrible.I LOVE Edict Zero but…..Her terrible voice acting (insanely poor delivery) almost makes it unbearable. The stories on this show can be ok but….. it’s limited scope and Julie’s need to do some acting make this a hard pass.
