The Wikum family has been farming in Dane County, near Stoughton, Wisconsin for over 100 years.  Allan Wikum, along with his two sisters Janet and Shirley share the story of their family farm and the changes they have seen.  Allan still resides on the home farm, while his sisters have moved away, but they all share fond memories of their days on the family's farmstead.  The farm began in 1919 when Allan's grandfather immigrated from Norway.  The farm used to be a dairy, hog, chicken and tobacco operation.  In 1985 they sold the cows and Allan then raised beef cattle for about 25 years before retiring and taking a job off the farm.  The farm is currently rented and unfortunately there is no future generation to take over in the Wikum family.  Allan does say however that it is important to him for someone to take it over that has a passion for agriculture and will make the land productive as his family has for so many years.
