Our guest today, R.T. Custer is the founder of Vortic Watch, one of the only American-made watch companies helping resurrect antique watches by combining vintage internals with modern wrist watch cases. Within just 8 years, he has been able to take it from scratch to 7 figures in revenue.

For 5-years, R.T. had a legal battle against the Swatch Group after they accused Vortic of trademark infringement and counterfeiting in 2015. A Federal Judge ruled in favor of Vortic. This legal battle was monumental for Americans as it protected thousands of American small businesses that preserve history, and also signified that small businesses can survive legal battles against larger conglomerates.

In this episode we discuss:

His journey into entrepreneurship and launching his wristwatch business.-Go use your hands to go do the things, not just talk about the things…you need to ask for help a lot.-Fail fast and fail often.-Fail forward, fail small.-It is okay to fail if it doesn’t ruin your entire business.-Be comfortable with just trying things.-Fail forward but fail often and fail small.-You may fail the first time but don’t major your business on that first thing.-Try and test and try and test and fail. When you hit the wall go find and expert.-It is rewarding to have a team of people helping you out.- Take messy action.

All this and much more from R. T. Custer, listen to the full episode to get amazing golden nuggets from him.
