I’m kind of a really ‘busy’ gal at heart, but it’s something that has made me really anxious over the past 5-10 years.   It’s not helpful.  I’m not saying that busyness is a bad thing, but that busy, anxious spirit is not a good thing.  It’s been a hard thing to step away from; it’s been difficult to say, ‘No.  I actually need a really slow day today.  I need to sleep in and make a slow breakfast.  I need to not start the day with a workout. I need to quell that busy spirit.’

I wanted to use this podcast to share my own story.   I don’t share this to make you think that I’ve got it all together or that I understand exactly how to quell that anxiety, but I want to encourage you that it is possible to get away from that anxious perpetually nervous spirit, waiting on the next thing or worrying about whether or not your plans will go as planned.

Being still and knowing that God is in control is hard but good. #podcast #anxiety…

I was inspired to do this because this trip to Europe has taught me 3 things:

#1)  Even though I struggle with not feeling like I’m not doing something ‘productive’ in the car, I’m still a human being, made in God’s image, and that makes my life worth while.

#2) Being busy with your life doesn’t mean that you have to have a ‘busy’, anxious, nervous spirit.

#3) Being busy with loving others because Jesus loved me first is the absolute best kind of busy.

#4) You are not any less of a person if you aren’t as busy as another person.  They could have a fuller schedule but have a more peaceful spirit than I would have on that kind of a schedule.

In today’s podcast I share about my own story with:

A) Struggling to put down the busy spirit.

B) Getting over the FOMO when I’m not able to do everything.

C) Remembering that my identity is not in what I do but who I am in Christ Jesus.

D)  Embracing each moment and not always making continuous goal and to-do lists.

E) Balancing getting things done and time for relationships (a balance I’m still learning)

F) My favorite bloggers who have reminded me that slowing down is not a bad thing and who have dealt with anxiety themselves.

There is so much beauty in leaving that anxious nervous busy spirit behind, even in the actual busy seasons of life.  The peace of God truly passes all understanding, and I have definitely seen God’s peace overwhelm me many times during this past year.
