This session is dedicated to my teacher, Tina Porter, and her family; and our Asian brothers and sisters.

Tonglen is 'taking and sending' meditation. We draw the suffering or pain of another into our hearts and send them relief. It awakens compassion and connects us to others. When we are able to hold the suffering of another, we deepen our capacity to love and experience life fully.

"Compassion is not the relationship between the healer and the wounded. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity." -Pema Chodron
