In this episode, Bryce and Sam sit down with their good friend Jenna Wright. Jenna has a fascination with government intelligence and law enforcement and brings that curiosity to help create a very interesting episode with the guys.

Bryce’s book this month is about the incredible effort put forth by POWs during World War Two and their attempts to escape. Going so far as to create false documents, creating civilian clothing for escapees, and the constant effort of digging several tunnels to escape their prison camp. Bryce also takes the opportunity to make another Simpsons reference. Surprise surprise!

Jenna brings a book about the head analyst whose job it was to question Saddam Hussein when he was captured. The book talks about the difficulty in trying to translate all the data collected through intelligence and make it understandable for politicians who make the decisions. This book also shares how Saddam feels we failed in the Middle East because we never took the time to understand the Middle East.

Are you from Victorian age Britain? Are you looking for a way to accidentally die? Then Sam’s book is for you. This book covers all the incredibly ridiculous and absurd ways arsenic killed or injured people in Victorian Britain. It almost seems like there was nothing better to do than misplace arsenic for it to be found by someone else accidentally; use it in paints and other products that people would readily use, or simply just consume it outright. This book is filled with chapter after chapter awful and stupid ways people used arsenic, sounds like it is right up Sam’s alley.

The books we shared this episode are:

The Great Escape by Paul Brickhill

Debriefing the President: The Interrogation of Saddam Hussein by John Nixon

The Arsenic Century: How Victorian Britain was Poisoned at Home, Work, and Play by James C. Whorton

Our Book Recommendation Fanfare song is, “Evening Melodrama” by Kevin Macleod. Our theme song, “The Show Must Be Go” was composed by Kevin MacLeod. This and other content from Kevin can be found at incompetech.com
