David Waldman of Triton Brewing Co. is a long time brewer that has taken an excellent approach to the business of owning a brewery. David hired brew master John, who was a former brewery owner turned full time brewer at Triton. This move allowed Dave to feel comfortable enough to leave the brew house and leave the brewing to a seasoned professional while freeing up time to deal with the business side of owning a brewery. Dave being the director of operations for Triton means that he must focus on the big picture of Triton and stay in tuned to the distribution, day-to-day operations, and marketing for Triton. Having “Brewer John” as a colleague has been a big contributing factor to Tritons success in the brewing industry.

Why did you choose to incorporate Food Trucks instead of a Brewpub? Food trucks are easy to handle and easy to gather. Food trucks are also a great way to spread the word of your brewery through social media as each truck has their own set of followers and they bring their customers to your brewery. Food trucks are also easy to deal with in that, if they lack quality, a better truck with better quality can easily replace them.

How is the world of financing changing its role today? It is now secret that craft beer is growing at an alarming rate, and angel investors are starting to notice over the last few years. More and more people with some extra money are looking to invest in small brewery startups. Financing was easy, then became difficult, and now is becoming more accessible.

Where do you see the future of craft beer? Dave sees unbridled growth for the next 5-8 years. While this so-called “Bubble” has believed to burst and now the market is way over crowded. Dave doesn’t believe that’s the case and more breweries are welcome to join, over time high caliber breweries will filter out the lesser quality breweries.
