Good morning theater fans! I'm Caryn Robbins with The Broadway Scoop for Tuesday, January 4th. 

Broadway grosses are in for the week ending February 2, and David Byrne's AMERICAN UTOPIA continues to enjoy huge returns at the box office, grossing more than $1.1 million and making over 140 percent of its potential. Leading the pack were heavy hitters THE LION KING, MOULIN ROUGE! and box office champ, HAMILTON. 

The third Broadway cast has been announced for the Tony winning play, HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD. Actor Paul Thornley will return to the show to reprise the role of Ron Weasley, which he originated in both the London and Broadway productions. Current Broadway cast members James Romney and Aaron Bartz will graduate to the principal roles of Albus Potter and Draco Malfoy. and actor James Snyder will continue on as Harry Potter, opposite his current co-star Jenny Jules as Hermione Granger, The new company will begin performances at the Lyric Theatre on March 18th. 

And a filmed performance of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical HAMILTON will arrive in movie theaters on October 15, 2021. Shot at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, the filmed production features the original Broadway company including Tony winners Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Renée Elise Goldsberry and Daveed Diggs, and Tony nominees Phillipa Soo, Christopher Jackson and Jonathon Groff.  The cinematic event will be released by Disney, which reportedly paid $75 million for the worldwide rights to the musical.
