In this presentation we see how civic authorities mobilise in the event of an earthquake. Where there has been extensive damage the mayor calls a meeting at which emergency services deliver reports. The meeting then decides if the situation warrants a declaration of emergency. If so, the mayor must sign it. People are then told to stay out of the city while the emergency services are rescuing people, clearing blocked roads and restoring services. We see rescue services at work and the procedures they follow.
