"Comedy is Acting out Optimism". Robin WilliamsWriting: CVoice Acting: B+Sound Quality: AProduction Quality: AI used Robin Williams quote for this review because I believe it the best description slapstick humor I have heard so far. For example: We walk down the street head held high, slip on a banana slide just missing the baby carriage and land in the dumpster. We then get out of the dumpster, brush ourselves off and continue to our destination. To have gone through an experience like that is the height of optimism. But how do you do slapstick on a podcast? The writers of Damien Anto do an admirable job without resorting exposition and ridiculous sound effects. The story is about Damien Anto, a master thief who plies his trade during the middle ages with his "faithful" servant. Damien is a successful thief even though optimism as his only competent skill. I can visualize the pratfalls as he goes on his adventures. Though slapstick is not my cup of tea, I think those who do will like this podcast. The voice acting and the comedic timing of the actors a is good but are some parts that don't work. For example, the servant is whipped frequently and its meant as a three stooges type punishment but I kept feeling bad for the servant. However, if you were to tell its really very funny, I'd believe you. After all, I cried as child when watching the 3 stooges because Larry and Curly were being beaten up by Moe.However, it's Damien acting on his optimism that he is a master thief and his servant's optimism that he will get paid that's the comedy. Try it and tell me what you think.Disclaimer: Those who can do, those who can't teach and those who can't teach criticize. I am in the third category. Though I offer my opinion, am humble enough to admit I maybe wrong. If I am, please educate me!
