RATING
Twisted audio drama that I could not guess the end to. Loved it.
One of the best stories and podcasts ever!! I didn't want it to end! So creative and I love connecting mysteries! I have listened twice please make more!!
A powerful cast of voice actors combined with horrific slow burning writing creates two seasons of terrifying mystery. I couldn't stop listening to this one. This podcast is not for the faint of heart. If you like horror, conspiracy and audio drama then this is the podcast for you.
this is both a serial and a story
To say that 'I absolutely adore this podcast' would be putting it simplistically. At time of writing, I must have re listened to all the episodes about 15 times and I have yet to tire of it. It's a must-listen to if you're a fan of horror stories or evil yet-incredibly-built character arcs!
Season One was amazing, I suggested it to everyone I knew that listens to audio dramas I liked it so much. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the rest of the story, no part of it captured me like the first season did and there was a lot of awful singing.
Darkest Night - season 1It took ten episodes to reach the pay off but was absolutely worth it. If the rest of this series was as meticulously planned then this is going to be an exceptional show.Episode 4Up to this point, this podcast is becoming the goriest podcast I have ever listened to. It's up there with the strongest episodes of American Horror Story.Season 2This show is turning into Westworld.Season 3Return to the style of Season 1 so it's harder to make the connections until the final episode.
It grabs you. It's gory, and some of those sound effects just make you flinch. Really enjoyed listening to this!
Strong first season, interesting second season, shark-jumping third season
This podcast isn't particularly well written. The storylines are kinda cringey and cliche, and over-performed in an artificial way. The discussions at the beginning/end of each episode come across as a bit egotistical and I don't feel like they add any value to the podcast. Some of the music choices are questionable for example the 'themed' song in episode 2. Stopped listening halfway through episode 3.
I tried. I really tried with this one but just couldn't stand it at all! Although most episodes feature talented and well-known actors they come across as too over-arched and or outright bad which may come down to poor direction or lack of experience in voice acting but either way it is noticeable. A clever premise for a horror anthology show is here but it seems wasted on rather clumsy, silly, or mean-spirited stories that just feel empty and aren't as clever or shocking as the show thinks they are. The narration adds nothing and serves no purpose other than it is what these shows have or listen to what celebrity we got to voice this season! Each episode features two characters experiencing the events of the episode that serve as a prologue and epilogue to the tale which is typical but why not just leave it at that or why not have them narrate over it instead of some random celeb? I can see the appeal of this show but I just find it too much of a waste of time to want to listen any further.
An intriguing set-up for a podcast. This is a full-throated horror podcast, with good sounds effects and acting and they really don't hold back on the grimness or gore. Put it this way - it's the gory 'Saw' to the NoSleep Podcast's creepy 'Insidious'. If that's what you're after, this is the podcast for you!
Unique and spooky!
The binaural recording here is great, and adds a unique spin to this podcast. Overall, though this show seemed to revel in trying very hard to be intense and shocking.
If I could rate the first season alone, this would unquestionably be a 5-star podcast. This is technically one of the best podcasts ever made. The audio quality is unmatched and the acting is excellent. The writing of season one is gripping, but season two is weak and feels unnecessary, and the acting becomes cheesy. In short, you will love this podcast. Just leave it with season one.
Children are audibly murdered. No trigger warning. Just dead children. While some of the writing is really good, and the acting amazing, I would not recommend this to anyone.
Rating - 7.75/10You need to be extremely patient on this one. The plot takes a really long time for you to get hooked and will not make sense at all until you are a good 50-60% into the the show to start connecting the dots. If you do have the patience for it, then the reveal of how everything falls into place is a satisfactory moment. This show is strictly for mature audiences and if you have a poor appetite for listening/visualizing gore then this is not for you. Note: These are only my amateur personal review ratings/thoughts, you are welcome to have your own opinions.
