Das literarische Echo (the literary Echo) is a new radio program entirely devoted to contemporary literature written in German, mainly from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. It also deals with literary works written in German by authors living in Canada and in other parts of the world. It is primarily intended for a Canadian audience. Its purpose is to keep listeners abreast of the ‘literary life’ in German speaking countries. On the one hand the program informs about mayor literary events (prize winning authors, critical debates, book fairs, new trends, controversies, etc.), and on the other it presents critical perspectives on selected works of fiction, on drama and poetry. It draws particular attention to literature in the making: work in progress pre-published online in ‘magzines’, virtual cafés and on numerous blogs, etc.
