So today, I have with me Dr. Indy Sahota, MD MSc CCFP(EM), staff emergency physician at Sinai Health System and Scarborough Health Network in Toronto and ICU clinical associate at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He completed his residency from the University of British Columbia.
Some of the things we discuss are:
Why he chose emergency medicine after finishing family medicine. We discuss his NGO called A Thousand Metres Above (ATMA) which supports healthcare initiatives in the Himalayas. How travelling changed him and how it can help humanize us, thus making us better physicians. How to normalize and learn from your own and other's mistakes. We briefly discuss the COVID situation in Canada and the rest of the world. We also discuss the differences between flu, SARS, MERS and COVID, and how this is much more threatening than all of them. How does he keep his sanity during these times?
And finally, we touch on his upcoming podcast that he is planning to make on race and how opening conversations about it can make a huge difference in all our lives.
Thank you for listening. I hope you enjoyed the show.
