Hello listeners! It’s been a long time, but we’re finally back with an analysis of a classic ‘ER’ episode!

This time we look at ‘The Long Way Around’ from season three, which focuses on Carol Hathaway as she is caught up in a hostage situation at a convenience store while on suspension from work. She uses her medical skills to help the injured, and tries to win the trust of the reluctant gunman, played by guest star Ewan McGregor.

We discuss how this episode highlights the brilliance of Carol’s character and the importance of her job as a nurse, and why we think it’s great that she decided not to switch careers and become a doctor instead.
