As with their excellent Myths & Legends series, the Weisers spend the time and energy making this show an enjoyable one. Irreverently respectful of their source material, Jason's wry delivery often improves on what are already classic tales, keeping them current. Another well-constructed, well-produced show from a talented team!

If you already love The Myths and Legends Podcasts then you already love Fictional.

Would love to see the Weisers find time for this podcast again, even if it were for a few special episodes from time to time. Equally as fun as Myths and Legends, but it takes its time to explore some longer works over several episodes. Great stuff!

Clearly a side project of Bardic, this podcast is the audio equivalent of crash course literature. If you think sparknotes are a great idea but a bit dry, check this out.I personally prefer Myths and Legends, the other podcast by the same creators, mainly because there, even for stories I already know, Weiser does a good job of shedding some new light on the story. Here, it feels like I can skip episodes about books I have read. That said, I do love Weiser's penitent for snark which is not dulled in this podcast and keeps the episodes from becoming down the middle retellings. Definitely worth a listen, especially if you are comfortable enough with yourself to admit you are never actually going to get around to reading The Count of Monte Cristo and the like.
