As part of Ireland at Boston College's Leadership Fireside Chat Series, in partnership with the Consulate General of Ireland in Boston, thank you for joining us today for a discussion about the European Union, Ireland, and global affairs. Dr. Bob Mauro, Director of the Global Leadership Institute and H.E. Dan Mulhall, Ambassador of Ireland, reflect on the transatlantic relationship through the pandemic and into the future. During this discussion, the Ambassador will discuss the ways in which Ireland is shaping EU-US relationships during the crisis. The Ambassador will also discuss the dynamic and emerging Atlantic future.

Opening remarks by Laoise Moore, Consul General of Ireland to New England.

Ambassador Daniel Mulhall was born and brought up in Waterford. During his diplomatic career, Ambassador Mulhall has held a number of positions at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, including as Director-General for European Affairs from 2005-2009. He also served as a member of the Secretariat of the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation from 1994-95, and after that he was the Department's Press Counsellor until 1998. In that capacity, he was part of the Irish Government's delegation at the time of the Good Friday agreement.  He took up duty as Ireland's 18th Ambassador to the United States in August 2017. Ambassador Mulhall makes regular use of social media in order to provide insights into the work of the Embassy, to promote all things Irish and to engage with Irish people and those of Irish descent around the world. You can follow him on Twitter @DanMulhall.
