My brain is mush. They've done it. They've made a cryptid mystery drama that of all things, reminds me of a Wes Anderson film. Such beautifully realized observations about the ride or die affection in sibling relationships, but also all the built up resentments. The redemption aspect wasn't something I was expecting and I loved how they handled it. The dialogue is deliberately kooky and many of the funniest lines are delivered as under the breath grousing. Also, these aren't copy paste cryptids. The show starts with a cryptid who presents as a sentience controlling three bodies. The next one is a voice that is best described as charmingly dangerous. And each one after that is probably something that hasn't been brought up in this genre before. I love it.
I love this podcast. Great characters, great writing, great voice acting, unique tone and atmosphere, queer rep - it's the whole package. Basically an immediate top fave. I cannot wait for the next season.
This story is very captivating, love it
Such a great podcast. I love it!
Love the concept of this. There are those towns or neighborhood that people have urban stories about them. This plays into so smartly. Was not expecting how heart warming it would be.
Wonderful world, cast, and relationships in this. It's funny, emotional, and warm whenever it needs to be, and I absolutely cannot wait for more.
This show doesn't get NEARLY the attention it deserves. It's got everything. Lovable bird dads. Grumpy monster aunts. Dubious relationships with fae-like creatures. Subversive action against a bigoted bureaucracy. Villains that I guarantee you will love to hate. Heroes facing the greatest challenge of all: figuring out what the hell they're supposed to be doing in their late 20's.
Great podcast, interesting characters. The narration is a nice touch
A podcast about somewhat dysfunctional siblings who love each other in Appalachian town filled cryptids, a department meant to handle cryptid-human affairs, and messy local politics — what else could I ask for? The people and the town drew me in. I might not like all the people in Harbor but it certainly feels like a real town in the middle of somewhere. The prose can be a little overwrought sometimes but it fits the tone of the world. It's a fully voiced audio drama with a lot of potential.
A comedy/drama with mystery elements, dealing with tension between a station with the purpose of helping cryptids and a human-run system that sees cryptids as monsters. The main relationship explored is that between siblings, who are close but whose secrets from each other lead to conflict. Other dynamics include a mentorship/found father-child relationship and friendship between co-workers. The first season also includes commentary on redemption and forgiveness. Some dialogue is quirky for comedic effect and the voice actors do well with the funny and emotional moments; the voices are distinct. Some of the cryptids include a being controlling three bodies, a being that can speak in dreams, an empath changeling, a living mobile home, and a shapeshifter.
