Here are some of the things I’ve learnt about myself since becoming a parent:
I like to feel in control
I need time for me and I feel very quickly depleted if I don’t get it
I can be resentful of other people’s demands on me
I haven’t always been great at really showing my love
I’m often planning ahead and not always present in the moment
I like tidiness and order in the house
I really, really need my sleep
I’m not always good at looking after my own needs
I like to feel as though I’m achieving
I haven’t been great at self-love
Here are some of the things I’ve changed within myself since becoming a parent:
I’ve learnt how to let go and surrender
I’ve re-thought the way I work so that my work time and my family time aren’t competing with each other
I’ve discovered how to be more loving and compassionate
I’ve learnt how to lower my tidiness standards
I’ve found how to be both loving and firm when guiding my children
I’ve established some boundaries so I look after myself
I’ve let go of resentment
I’ve discovered how to see irritations as learning opportunities
I’ve become more self-reflective and self-aware
I’ve been practicing self-love
If it weren’t for my kids, I don’t think I’d be the person I am today.
Thank you.
Today I recognise what I’ve learnt since becoming a parent.
